    Awesome! Good looking truck, the arm isnt the best but it's different. Hope to see it run through Niles near the Mosk tomorrow.

    Now from what Heil says, that black box on the gripper assembly is a sensor that levels the arm on its own to adjust with the carts. Heil has made this unit very fancy looking and it really looks unique. The only thing I'm not confined with is the Curotto grippers. I'd pick out the tri grippers tbh. Like you said, it's just a matter of mastering the controls on the joystick even though it has like 5 to 6 buttons. I will say driver's can get satisfaction from the extra 3 shakes this thing gives with the touch of a button and the fact the head rotates up and down. Heil has definitely put in some good physics into these units. Lots of learning is left for drivers who will be driving these. I don't get how they are at 2500 series now lol. The Fresno yard hasn't even started that series yet besides the fact the Durapack RR's taking over the lower numbers instead of the higher numbers. You still have a great video here!

      him and I were actually picking up a lot of knocked over bins off camera, mainly due to the fact of the sloping asphalt though

    The arm is so bulky it looks so weird up in the air when dumping a cart. My yard appearantly got one and it-s a diesel. I plan on finding it hopefully next month.

    Beautiful truck but I don’t like how the process doesn’t look smooth too much hesitation for me I like to slide thru the route scoop and score (my opinion tho)

    I remember first seeing this and not believing it existed because usually the side loader begin with "24" ie: 2423, 2432 x)

    • @GarbageTrucksofSanJose
      @GarbageTrucksofSanJose  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      well fremont has amassed so many different trucks from different yards over the years that instead of just replacing the older #24 series trucks and retaining their numbers or renumbering them, they just decided to keep going and go past 2500 lol

      @@GarbageTrucksofSanJose yep. There's a republic ACX (I think?) 2447. It's not one of those painted over ones. It's a true republic that was there before everyone got repainted. And I also think you're correct about the 520's beginning at 48.
      I remember wayyyy long ago before 2009, there was an Automator 2412. so cool.

      Number system for Republics trucks are normally this: Side loaders are 24// and 25// and if it’s a Curotto it’s 23// and 22//. Front loaders are 12// and 13// and Rear Loaders are 10// and 21//. Rolloff’s are 34// and 35//.

    Why is there 2 drivers? Not one?

  • @contracostawaste
    @contracostawaste 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! Does the driver control the grippers, or do they open and close by themselves when needed? Weird how sometimes it really squeezed the carts and sometimes it just barely grabbed them, to where they almost fell in, like that little 32 SSI at the beginning haha! Also was cool to see it picking up one of the 20 gallon SSI wheelies! Great work!

      not sure, I know that the arm automatically extends out if the extend button is merely tapped on the manual controls underneath the seat, but I'm not sure if the grabbers are automatically assisted or if they're still just manually controlled

    GreenTeam of San Jose is considering these trucks along with the Mcnelius auto-reach….the Labrie still the best side loader on the market!

    • @GarbageTrucksofSanJose
      @GarbageTrucksofSanJose  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah no way should GT buy these considering the number of trees you guys have. they'll be wire and tree magnets, already difficult enough for your roof mounted CNG tanks to handle

      @@johnnyB692 explains the want for autoreaches and these crap SSTs, don't think they would fare too well after seeing some of the routes you guys do. most of the SSTs at fremont and other republic yards are sitting dormant unassigned to a route since none of the drivers want to touch them
      odd that y'all are considering buying new trucks as well since they aren't that old compared to the trucks over at GCS/GWS/GWR

    This truck sounds like the Durapack Rapid Rail CNrG and has the same chassis. I like this truck. It has an Arm nearly identical to the Formula 7000 and the Python. But it has a chain like the ZR, Amrep HX450 Octo series, and I still remember the rubber grippers I remember that Heil has and I am quite curious this truck flips lids.
    Great video and still have yet to see more to come from Republic Services of Fremont.

    As much as the truck is aesthetically pleasing, it just isn’t practical. From what I’ve heard there’s way to much tech on the truck. I watched the demo video from Heil on their channel and I was so taken back by how much automatic paraphernalia this truck is equipped with. It’s a very nice looking truck but just doesn’t seem operator-friendly whatsoever. Great footage!

    That arm looks a lot better then the Older style that gets loose swaying after awhile this arm looks more stable n strong let’s see how it pans out in a year or so. For being a heil I like it. But the Amrep ASL is a better ASL all around.

    • @GarbageTrucksofSanJose
      @GarbageTrucksofSanJose  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you're right about waiting a little longer to see how it is in a year. perhaps some opinions will change once drivers master the controls and the trucks have some usage on them. right now though, like almost any new truck, people are skeptical since it seems like the older ones do just as fine as these ones with less complex components

      @@GarbageTrucksofSanJose I hear you like I’ve said before Heil ASL bodies always have problems with the arm this coming from drivers that operate these trucks. • @GarbageTrucksofSanJose
      @GarbageTrucksofSanJose  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@abelpadilla7789 amreps are nice since you don't have to retract the arm if you want to dump it, that's the thing I've heard from old WMSJ drivers, plus they're usually pretty quick off the line. actually heard that the old amreps in the 90s were so quick that they would fling bags and whatnot over the side
      the thing with Heil arms and Heil products in general nowadays is all of the safety cutoffs and whatnot. our older Heils can rev to speed up the arm, manually pack, open the arm while stowed, etc. nowadays with new Heils, you can't do that

    • @abelpadilla7789
      @abelpadilla7789 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GarbageTrucksofSanJose that’s true about the early Amreps on over loaded cans. The gripper wouldn’t drop enough in to the hopper like the N3 arm I’ve seen the gripper does not drop enough in to the hopper but newer Amrep now comes down in to the hopper so what slower making the curve in to the hopper.

    • @GarbageTrucksofSanJose
      @GarbageTrucksofSanJose  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      judging from the lack of streaks of GJ on the hopper walls, combined with the high rubber shielding, I'd say it actually does a fairly good job with preventing spillage, granted that the resident hasn't played jenga with their overflowing trash
