    Thanks for the interesting video. In the case of a 350 liter tank aquarium and two pairs of discus fish, two pairs of angel fish and about 10 other small fish. How many such filters do you think I will need?

  • @willparsons32
    @willparsons32 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    If your plans are to build a sump. Make it at least 2x larger than the water volume of the aquarium it's intended for. The longer it takes to re-cycle the aquarium's water, the better success you'll have keeping aquarium inhabitants. Remember, bigger is better!

    • @TheFishTankGuy
      @TheFishTankGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree! My 10g sump build was not the greatest design...my 20g sump is a better design and simpler as well. I've never had the real estate to have a big sump, but I recommend to my viewers that any sump is better than nothing!

    The water should rise from the bottom! This build will just cause stagnation of the water

    • @TheFishTankGuy
      @TheFishTankGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. I should have comment cards that pop up during the video stating I'd do it differently. The water in that first chamber does become stagnant :/

      I don't belive in these subbs. It cost more electrics. More watter more maintaning. A inside canister is the best. Propper

      @@richardbunt2278 you lose the expandability and customizability with that.

    I'm sorry but room configuration
    completely incorrect. For the operation of the current system, the first glass should be above.

    The water needs to go under the last baffle not over it. This will only create more bubbles going into the return pump. If the water goes down and under the baffle to the return pump the bubbles will go up in the chamber before and the water then free of bubbles will go under the last baffle to the pump

    Do I need 2 power heads? one for the tank and one for the sump? I'm trying to figure out how to get the water from the aquarium to the sump and back up the aquarium and don't know if I should buy two power heads?

    • @garyrappel2976

      shirley williams generally your intake is gravity fed with an overflow box or overflows to keep from fully draining during an outage and a sumbmergable sump pump for return

    Great series. Just what I needed to know. Starting with plans for a 20 gallon long reef tank. Seeing how I have more than enough 10 gallon fresh water tanks around the house, I am planning to use one of these tanks as my sump. Wish me luck.

    Certainly no expert but the longer the water spends in the sump is important but the number of times it travels through the sump should be part of the calculation as well, there must be a sweet spot between the two factors.

    The water just flow the top part..should have let it flow from the bottom,give a gap below..that way the water will pass thru all filtration..

      so water flows under then over.

  • @WMAProductionSingapore
    @WMAProductionSingapore 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Good effort.. but circulation design is wrong, your first compartment should not flow, should seep from below to the second compartment, else it defeat the purpose . Because water from your first compartment should pass through sponge/cotton, all the way to the bottom and seep through from below to second compartment....
