*UPDATE* In the video I state that the 4SB has a solid cedar top, whereas it actually has a solid spruce top. Apologies for the confusion, at the time of recording the video those were the specs I believed were used, whereas Flight went with a spruce top instead to achieve that super black stain and for a brighter tone. I’m happy with the decision Flight made and this does not change the image or sound that you’re getting in this video - it very much feels, sounds and looks like my ukulele. Any questions or confusion, talk to me 🖤 Grab the Flight 4SB here: Flight 4SB Sammy Turton Tenor Ukulele thmn.to/thoprod/579522?offid=1&affid=1399
I always liked solid spruce tops more than solid cedar tops. The spruce to me ears is more defined cuts through better (louder) and has clearer/cleaner sound if that makes sense of what I am saying. This is why I purchased the Nighthawk the solid Spruce top w/ Solid Mahogany back and sides over the all-solid mango Fireball. I'll one day go for a 4SB model once my wallet recovers from the Iris, Vanguard and Nighthawk purchases!
Thank you for demonstrating your beautiful Ukulele. Flight should be as happy as you are in designing the 4WB. When I grow up I hope I will have my name on a Uku. I'm 76 now so I had better hurry, but in the mean time I'll continue having fun, as I learn something new every day on my Ukulele 👍🤙
Love the new signature model, a massive congratulations Sammy. Sounds beautiful and looks lush!! Love the combination of the black and spalted maple, classy yet very modern. Can't wait to see one in person and looking forward to hear you playing one in person. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Congratulations Sammy! Your signature uke is a babe and hands down one of the most gorgeous Flight models. Awesome job on the design ... it's sooo you! 🖤🖤
I just ordered one today. Really liked how Flight accommodated your requests for building it. Looks very unique. Congratulations on your own signature uke!
Fantastic recap of this new beautiful uke!!! Enjoyed hearing the sound comparisons woth the other ukes too. It's soooo Sammy too, love the salted caramel I mean salted maple bits!!! Hmmmm coffee . ..
Great video! Loved all the nerdy specification stuff. I think you've designed an absolute beauty mate. Loving the clarity from that spruce top. Sounds great!
Congrats, Sammy! I really like the design of your signature uke, which sounds beautiful and looks gorgeous. I wish I could purchase any Flight brand in Japan as well. The thing is I am still a beginner. All I have to do to stay consistent and practice every day to be able to play any tunes like you do!
OMG! That thing is gorgeous. Please Flight, if you're listening, do a FSB in baritone also with a passive pickup. The sound hole ring thing/rosette and scalloped cutaway are just stunning. Well done you. Fret marker placements and headstock... geesh. Some people are just naturally this clever?
Congrats Sammy, really classy Uke, love the cutaway, really nice. The nod to Baz was A1. Well thought out and the wood combo’s are lovely. Congrats as well to Flight, perfect partnership.
Sammy, just looked on SUS and it is ready on pre order. Man, now I have a dilemma, my bug needs a carb or do I wait till the summer. 4SB, SUS, Flight, what on earth have you done 🤪🤪😉.
Congratulations Sammy!🎉 I just took one glance at the video an though “Ooh flight made a Sammy-uke!” Before even reading the title. It’s so cool and sounds great😊
Mine has just arrived. Great to play. Point to note - no serial number on the label? Would have been great to have a serial number as it is a signature series. NB. My fireball also doesn’t have a serial number. Beyond a certain price point a serial number helps with future value.
Did you consider an arched carved or laminated back? I've got a Kala thin body travel ukulele with a significant bulge on the back and it is VERY loud. I love it for the volume but hate that the intonation is off. The electronics aren't great, but they work well. With the exception that the wires sometimes contact the wood and cause a buzz. Since the electronics were installed before the top was installed, there really is no way to get inside and shorten the wires. I just pulled the output jack out and twisted it a lot to shorten the length of the wires.
I collect ukes and have the A10 QM which is nice along with the Iris and 2 of their electric ukes. love the spalted maple touches. I am a sucker for salted maple. Only minor critique is I personally would have used flamed mango as the back and sides but each to their own. Flight definitely are pumping out the models. I wonder if some will drop out of the range and if they may eventually be collectible. Time will only tell.
Thank you! You can purchase the soundwave pickups separately, so it is an option but you’d need to install it/have a nice professional install it for you ☺️
Sammy is there no affiliate link or something in your bio? Where do I purchase this and since it's your signature one do you get some sort of kickback? How does all that work, I was going to get a fireball but now I would prefer to get this one if I can support you in some way with the purchase.
Hey Andrew, that’s very sweet of you mate - yes I get a royalty from this kid, but buy the right uke for you mate 🧡 if you’re in America Aloha City Ukes has a couple of models, Europe the BAX stores have them (UK SUS have it) outside of that I’m not sure 🤔
We talked about a comfort edge but wanted to keep the price down (hence no side hole either). 3rd fret marker would have broken the symmetry of the fret markers 🥲
@@4stringboy could you do a video comparison (or at least an opinion here) on the Flight Comet vs A10? I own the comet (and Diana Soundwave) and am trying to make a decision on the purchase of my next ukulele. I’m looking at the mango vs maple tops and think this would be a good video since these 2 are similar and you already have them.
@user-dp4ev9ec8f that’s a great idea - I was gonna do a Fireball vs Comet but why not add the A10 in there! I have some new bridge pins that I want to put on the A10 and I’ll get them at the end of the month - so then I can restring it and film 😊

@@4stringboy I know!! Hopefully see you soon, but if not before, definitely in Cheltenham!!
It's all about COFFEE ☕ what a lovely Uke! Welcome to the family ❤
It was very cool to hear the comparisons. Might be the first time I’ve recognized differences. Super sweet.
She’s very different to my usual bunch and that’s exactly what I wanted 😇
What an excellent development! Congratulations - it looks amazing.
Thanks Paul 🧡
Such a beautiful piece of functional art, Sammy. 😍 Congratulations!
Thank you Wendy - aesthetics are important :)
What a stunning instrument! Such a beauty! Congratulations, 4SB. And Fligh are a gem among the companies!
Thank you Jens!
I love the black and the contrasting look with spalted maple. Looks gorgeous. And the cutaway is awesome. Good job. Sammy and well deserved
Thank you Bonnie, glad you like it!
Wow this the best looking uke I've ever seen! The black and salted maple is so nice together. Hopefully I can get my hands on one!
Thank you mate, yes I love their contrast
This is a beautiful ukulele with sound to match.
Thank you Jane!
Wow, it's absolutely gorgeous and I love all the little personal touches. Massive congratulations mate 👍
Thank you so much! Flight were very cool about me tweaking the little things to make it look how I wanted 😇
Fair play Sammy - looks stunning!
Cheers Baz!
Congrats! This is awesome news. I love my Flight Fireball but I think I see one of these in my future too!
Thank you! I designed this to be the yang of the Fireballs Yin - together they are truly perfect

Thank you Ali, I’m glad that comes across 🥲😇
Coincidentally, I have been shopping for a tenor, Flight has been on the top of my list. I'm intrigued!
They have a lot fo good tenors mate, you'll do well!
I love Flight ! The quality is so good even in the lowest price series. This one is fantastic and one of my next dreams.

Ooolala yes 👏 love the spalted maple 🍁 soooo sophisticated!!!

What a beauty! Such clarity & wonderful projection. Harmonics are awesome 👌 The 4SB, one to start saving for & flogging some of my other ukes! 😉🎵❤️
Hahaha thanks Jude, I’ll write you a love letter on this one if you like?

Thanks, I’ll tell mommy and daddy at Flight!

I avoided Mango as I already use the Fireball (all solid mango) 24/7 so wanted the tonal opposite of that for the 4SB!
Hello Baz! 😂
Baz has more cameras than me 🥲
nice! I looks like an Anuenue. Where do we get one?
And aNueNues are beautiful 😍

Bugger I missed the release live.😢
You're pretty much on time Angie :)
What a beautiful uke! I love the detail with the fretmarkers. I would like to know the distance between the frets?
Thank you! The neck is a standard Flight Royal series standard, so it'll be the same as the Fireball, Nighthawk, Comet etc
Dude that is dope
Thanks Matt, I love it
Looks like a custom built uke. I want one!
That is a seriously nice looking Uke. So how do I get a lefty version 😁
Ask Flight realllllllllllly nicely haha
Mr Sammy, will it be available in the States? I just got my mitts on a Fireball and now this? Too much goodness 🤪
Hey Steven, I’d hope so but there’s only a limited batch at the moment to test the waters
Boah! Starkes Design!
Very cool, wish there was a natural option, but still cool overall
It’s gotta be black for Sammy I’m afraid 🖤
For a natural option look at Anuenue Moonbird 🖤

Hi. Can you get this version with electrics?
Hello, you can ask a store to install a pickup for you, but they’re only sold as acoustic models 😊
Very nice! Question though - you mentioned it was a cedar top…but flights website says its spruce. Could you confirm?
A very good question - I can confirm it is actually spruce, but I fully believed it was cedar.
