    The incomparable Paul Brown and Graham led the Browns to a place no other American pro sports team has matched. That is because in pro football a champion cannot lose in the post season unlike the 3 other major American sports. All of those leagues allow for champions to lose multiple games in the post season. The Browns reached the final in their league 10 straight times and 11 out of 12 times while winning 7 of those finals including 5 in a row. Graham is the only pro player in American sports to dominate one sport and also win a championship in another which Graham did in his 1946 pro basketball season. Graham is also still the GOAT QB and it's still not close. He led his league in passer rating 5 times, Yds Passing 5X, Comp.% 4X (3 in the NFL), TDP 3X, INT% 4X, Y/A 5X. Up until a couple of years ago held the all-time record for rushing TDs by a pro QB (44). Still holds the all-time record for career Y/A at an incredible 9.0 (NFL all-time career high 8.6 in his 6 seasons in the NFL). And, he did all this in a "pass un-friendly" pro football environment as opposed to the "pass friendly" NFL of the past few decades. Paul Brown & Otto Graham created the modern pro offense which has only been copied and is still used today in the NFL.

    And now similar to Otto Graham, Tom Brady has also won 7 NFL Championships(Known today as The Super Bowl) in the 10 games Brady has played in.
    Otto Graham won 7 Championships in the 10 Championship Games he played in.

      Not similar. Graham won his in 10 seasons. It took Brady 21 seasons not to mention 3 cheating scandals & one of which was his. As players they were not alike either because Graham could ball carry well & make plays on his own which Brady, of course, could never do.

      So, when Tom Brady was down 28-3 late in the 3rd Quarter to Atlanta in Super Bowl LI, it wasn't Brady making those plays along with scoring the 2 Pointers Twice on the last 2 Touchdowns scored? DAMN , the Patriots must've had One Hell of an Offensive Coaching Staff to pull off The Greatest Comeback in Super Bowl History! With Tom Brady as the MVP.

      What does that have to do with Brady not being a play maker or taking more than twice as many seasons to win as many titles as Graham@@Jiltedin2007

      In reality Graham had 6 MVPS (3 AAFC MVPs and 3 NFL MVPs). The last AAFC season he was the selection. The NFL blocked the award due to the merger after the AAFC season (the NFL did not have an MVP in 1949 either). There was no MVP selected in 1950 or 1952 either. Kessing would confirm this a year after the merger of the NFL and the AAFC, saying he personally delivered it to Graham. Its mind blowing. Graham was 6/8 for MVPs, that's 75% of the time!

      Russell could & did lose as many as 7 games in a single post season while Graham couldn't lose any. Russell also, didn't have to have the best W-L record in his half of the league to even have a chance to win the title like Graham always did.

  • @bryanjones4444
    @bryanjones4444 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Like Tom Brady, Graham is highly overrated. TEAMS win football games not quarterbacks. The Browns won championships because of their defense. However, if he had played a few more seasons at the same level Graham would be on the lowest level of the top 25 all time. And that is if you count his AAFC stats as legitimate which would be like counting Canadian Football League as equal to the NFL today.

    • @stevem7606
      @stevem7606 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The AAFC had better players than the NFL and more innovative coaches. The AAFC was known as the millionaire's league and paid better than the NFL (some teams offered year around employment, like the Browns), attracting those better players. It had higher average attendance and actually made more money than the NFL, just not enough. Looking at rosters after the merger you notice AAFC players replaced half of the NFL players, or more, on nearly every team. The NFL was contractually obligated to incorporate AAFC stats into their record books. What happened? The Browns came in and literally dominated the NFL Champion Eagles in every way in a 35-10 blowout the first game of the season. After that the NFL said the because the stats were on score sheets instead of score cards they weren't acceptable. They later stated the reason was the authenticity of any AAFC statistics or records could not be verified. Now the argument has shifted to this idea that this was not a merger of equals. There's a reason the Pro Football Hall of Fame preserved and recognizes these statistics, and its not due to the location. They were the pinnacle of pro football at the time and forced the NFL to modernize, elevating the game.

    Ah, no. Bill Russell is the greatest winner in professional sports with 11 championships in a 13 year period. Russell accomplished this with only 11 teammates whereas Graham's record was accomplished with more than 40 teammates. In that 13 year (e.g., 1956-1969) period, Russell's Celtics went to the NBA Finals 12 times, and to the Conference Finals in 1967.
