Anyone that says a physical specimen like Otto couldn't compete in today's NFL is a simpleton. I'd like to see Tom Brady try to play back then; with no roughing, no pass interference, and throwing what was essentially an oblong beachball, and win at Otto's level. LOL
Otto STILL holds the all-time yards per completion record. That is absolutely RIDICULOUS when you consider the era he played in, and that stupid ball he had to work with. He WAS the first modern pro-style QB. He extended the pocket, elongated routes, read the field, and made absurd back-foot throws. Look at the old film in slow motion. The torque he generated with his waist and shoulder turn was absolutely absurd, and is the model for athletic QB's in today's game, such as Mahomes and Love. The other big arms in the league at the time, were all "big plant and stride", Otto looks like he got in a time machine and traveled back. He and Don Hutson looked, and played like time travellers. In terms of playing style, Brady actually typified a 50's style QB MUCH more than Graham did.
Otto Graham, in spite of what many might think, is the GOAT, PERIOD...

Anyone, (mostly fans) who compares today's penalty laden, QB friendly, pass happy, score and stat obsessed football and its players (Brady, Rogers, etc) to ANY OTHER ERA, is a complete buffoon. Not only is it a completely different game, but the level of medical knowledge now, that allows for players to play at a high level for 15 to 20 years, compared to the MEDIEVAL medicine that Otto and the others had to play with all the way through the 70's, is another reason why comparing eras is the height of stupidity. Call players: "The most accomplished or greatest of their era or generation" not of all time.

Indeed. If Brady played in Montana's era, he couldn't make it five seasons. If he played in Namath's era, he couldn't make it one season. If he played in Graham's era, he couldn't make it one game.

its honestly sad how dumb our youth are. They would never watch this but they can't even see how well he can throw the ball while having film to look at. This dude could throw balls no other QB had the legs to get off. and he could run. and lead a team. I hate being young having to be around all these arrogant youth

      It's true.
You can insult the younger generation if you like, but they really aren't smart enough or have the intestinal fortitude to understand what you're talking about.
