Why can’t they have dogs for rehoming from puppy mills. Rescues go to puppy mill auctions to purchase old dogs and some breeders rehome there past breeders with rescues. They all need homes. I salute spca of Tampa for stepping up and doing the right thing. Donations from breed rescues an rescues go to purchase non usable dogs. And most of these organizations are tax exempt. Let’s get dogs in need in good homes.
It comes down to hypocrisy and control. If retail rescues had it their way, they'd be the ONLY source for people to get a dog. They're ok with buying from auctions and marketing them as rescued from puppy mills because they get donations and receive revenue from each dog they re-home/sell. Meanwhile, breeders and pet stores who do follow protocol and care about dogs get punished for unfair reasons and many sadly go out of business because of it. It's a mess.
