  • All new 2017 Audi Q5 TDI quattro 190PS on snowy roads in Sweden! It was our first real test of ultra quattro system and it did not disappoint us ... The car was just as steady and good as cars with the standard quattro system. The car was easy to drive and fun to drive on this treacherous and slippery road conditions. The wide tires (besides studless Nokian) had good surprise worth a good grip even if the width took its toll, and sometimes the "floating" on top of the snow.

    Hi
    I just bought 2020 q5..Actually same car in this video daytona pearl grey...My question is which drive select mode is best for snow and ice... i live in canada..

      Hi Comfort mode is probably best but if the snow is deep you have to put ESC in the off position (one press of the button) Then the car is more forgiving and allows a little wheel spin.

    Would you recommend anything less then 20" for snow? I am getting mine in few weeks and need to buy winter tyres. Normaly i would go an inch or 2 smaller, but on this car...not sure. Your reccomendation? Thanx

      First, I would like to congratulate you on a nice car. The longer time I drove it the more fun it became!
      Now to your question ... which I unfortunately have difficulty answering when I did not test the car with smaller dimensions than the one in the video. What I can say is that it went really well on the surfaces I was driving. Ice, packed snow and loose snow. Generally speaking, wide winter wheels can give a feeling of car floating on top of the snow, and thus losing a little feeling, but nothing has to do with the dimensions of the rim, without the width of the tire instead. On the other hand, I have experience of 18 inch winter wheels on RSQ3 (235/50 R18) and it works perfectly. It only applies to having a rim so that the brakes can fit in. In the summer I drive with 255 / 35-20 ... I think you will be satisfied whatever you choose ... 20 inches are always nicer but more expensive ... 18 inches cheaper and at least good at RSQ3 ... One tip is to check what Audi recommends for your car. They usually "wear the feet" after all the tests they have done and choose the tires / diesms they recommend, it would be a good choice.
      Good luck!!!!

      I just bought a set of winter tires and wheels for my 2018 q5. 235/60 R18 is the minimum size you can go with. Michelin ice xi2 will fit perfectly. My original 20'' continental sports tires are very slippery on ice and snow. Today we had a 15 cm snow, the car is super slippery. I'll install my winter tire package as soon as possible. At that time I will know the real performance of Quattro ultra compare to the old Quattro.

      what is the obsession with Torsen? OLD Quattro is good, Quattro Ultra is even better.

      If you don't know anything about car handling and different drive systems, then to you, there is no difference and you are this market, whom this new "masterpiece" is made.

      You can simply put it in 'offroad' or 'dynamic' setting and it will be permanently in all wheel drive.

    • @SiiliViin
      @SiiliViin 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe, but it is still not as real permanent four wheel drive. For housewife it is good enough, but not for snow track or mud no.

      You want to buy an Audi Q5 2018 model to drive on mud ? lol I am a housewife and i live in the Mountains Quattro Ultra is more than enough, if you haven't tested it be quiet macho guy

  • @SiiliViin
    @SiiliViin 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You need to compare real four wheel drive quattro with this crap at snow track and then compare handling & best lap time. I am sure, this new crap is worse. It can be enough to start up in slippery conditions, compared FWD, but thats all.

      this is actually better and faster reacting than torsen, the new system is way more efficient, Torsen is now considered slow, and it gets confused when you got 3 wheels off the ground

      @@jpch8814 confused? :D this one needs to think like forever where instead you need the power to dig through. This is the end of the quattro

      @@rook1e5 You want a Luxury crossover that costs more than 60K $ to dig off road? maybe you are a spoiled brat? most people while use Quattro for snow,ice, light off road/camping that is it, the new system reacts faster and better than Subaru and BMW ( Both has great AWD). by an ugly 4x4, you don't deserve an Audi.
