Mmmmmm… I don’t see anyone saying banchero being the next any kind of superstar. Plus Orlando has had some bad luck picking #1. Jabari is being labeled as next KD.
I think Orlando and Banchero are a match made in heaven. The Magic have sorely lacked a player who can just go get you a bucket when you need it most. Look at all of the good pieces on Orlando, and then look at all of the good pieces on Duke. Sure, Banchero may not have had eye popping stats, but what he does have is the ability to play with other high end players and be the engine of a cohesive team. I think banchero will take this Orlando team and raise the floor of the players on it enough to push for a playoff spot this year
Paolo is box office and is the spark they need to lead a young core if anybody drop the ball it’s okc they should have took JSJ he can create more shots for them
I feel like Paolo was slightly more consistently dominant than both BI & Jayson at Duke, but I wasn't sure if it was just time, so I looked up their stats. End of the day, all their stats were pretty much the same. BI shot the 3 a lil better than others. Paolo shot the 2 a lil better than the others. To my eye, Jayson appeared to have the most star potential as a pro, but all 3 struck me as remarkably similar in that they could take over in spurts, and completely disappear in others. None of them felt like guaranteed future NBA royalty, though all of them had clear high ceilings. I'm not sure why everyone was so certain Smith was the sure #1 pick. I saw definite ability & upside, but it wasn't obvi to me that he's better than Banchero. They're diff types of players. Smith is a crazy athlete, has ability to be a good defender and can shoot. He's gonna have to fill out, he shot it very well from 3, but not 2, which implies he's not great finishing through contact, and I'm not sure if he can make others better yet. That's a lot to like, but that doesn't necessarily equal a lock NBA star. Paolo is 6'10 with a grown man body and strength, enough handle to get his shot off the bounce, and that J is workable, so it could logically be improved. He doesn't defend well enough yet, or rebound consistently at a clip someome with his size and strength should. He also needs to work on bein more deliberate with his dribble, and using it to set up others more often. Tons to love. Also doesn't mean he's a lock star. There's a lot to like with both. I think it would depend on your need as to which you'd prefer to have. In a draft like this, where no one screams #1 pick, gotta just trust your work leading up to the pick & your gut when you make it. I hope he's great. He has the potential to be amazing. I'm pretty comfortable he'll at least be solid. We'll see how it plays out.
It seems to me that Orlando always knew Paolo was there guy and put it out that they wanted Jabari or Chet in the hopes that OKC or Houston wants to trade up and get the guy they had their heart set on. But then Houston wanted Paolo and OKC wanted Chet and were willing to bet Orlando landed on Jabari.
As a Magic fan I'm not mad at the pick, but was surprised by it ( he was my second choice , but also I said I think he will be the best player in this draft ). The reason I wanted Jabari one was his three point shooting and his defense. I do think the Thunder will be scary when it gets put together , Houston will be interesting with the athleticism of Jalen Green and the shooting of Jabari Smith, plus they got Ty Ty Washington in the draft too. Detroit is my sleeper team to make the playoffs with Jaden Ivey, and if I'm right they also got Jalen Duren in the draft too (so you can go Cade, Ivey, Bey, Bagley and Duren and or Stewart, plus they picked up Kemba Walker .

I think Bonchero will be a future All-star, but Jabari Smith Jr will be better all around, because of his defense and his offensive shooting. He's a better shooter than all three of them and he's a better defender then all 3 and he can guard 1-5...

To me both Orlando and OKC made the right pick and it would have been easily predicted if not for all the media noise in the other direction. Offensive creation is the rarest and most valuable skill. Whereas Chet probably has the highest ceiling and OKC has enough picks to take a flier. It’s great to be able to shoot 42% from three but 3 and D wings are abundant in the NBA.

There’s always a player in every sports draft that receives unwarranted hate and a good majority of the time proves the media wrong. Banchero will definitely prove them wrong
Paolo was the biggest offensive talent of the draft. He gives you shot creation, inmense athleticism and size for a wing. He's not great at defense but he can improve that. Chet is incredible but nonetheless a huge risk and Jabari will be a good role player, just terrible handles
Yeah, Smith was like 4 for 20 in a blowout loss to a low seed Miami team in the tournament. Just jacking up jumpers and shying away from the paint and contact. Banchero excelled...
@@shawna7813 yep I watched more than just tourney games as well and almost every one has the same story but Banchero, they just simply can't play well when faced with adversity.
I think Shannon is wrong. I don't see how Paolo Banchero is not a clear #1. Banchero is a three level scorer, he can finish with strength on the inside, he has a polished mid range game and he can knock down threes. In addition he has elite length, handles and athletic burst for a guy of his size. I just don't understand why people are so down on Paolo Banchero. I almost feel like Shannon and Skip have just been looking at Jay Bilas big board when it comes to draft picks.
Pablo shot 33% from 3pt range with five future NBA players on his team and Jabari Smith Jr. shot 42% with what how many future NBA players probably none maybe one. So Jabari is a better shooter then Pablo and Jabari is one of the best defensive player out of the whole draft and he can guard 1-5... So I'm sorry Jabari is better. Now I like Pablo and he will get better but not as good as Jabari Smith Jr.
@@timhargrave4881 Jabari couldnt create his own shots and had to rely on others I cant really think of many players that were 1st options on teams with that problem
Yes and how they gonna say he doesn’t look like the top pick when he was coming into college as the number 1 prospect and talk about weaknesses like they are not things he’s trying to improve
Magic took the right decision. I'm not seeing it in Jabari. Chet Holmgren is at best the next Kristaps Porzingis (pre-knee injury), just like Shannon said. Which is still a one time allstar (granted, in the weak east of the time) and would still be a great player if he weren't injured all the time and hadn't lost all his lateral quickness and effort at the rim. We'll see how Chet's scrawny body holds up though.
Jabari was the guy and tbh they need his elite defense. Pair him with Bamba and Issac in the front court would be scary. Banchero and Wagner are similar players imo. Banchero ceiling is Tobias Harris but he has the lowest floor because he has the least amount of flaws to his game. Chet ceiling is Andrei Kirilenko/Porzingis but his bust potential stinks of Bargnani/Jonathan Bender JABARI ceiling is Sonics Rashard Lewis offense but has KG level defensive upside.
Of course someone knew something. Have you not seen Casino, with DeNiro and Pesci? There is a modern day Ace Rothstein sitting in a betting hall talking to people, moving lines and placing bets.
I’m not saying that Jabari won’t be good, but he has a lot more developing to do when compared to Banchero. If he doesn’t develop his handles, he’s a 3&D player. Banchero is the only one who can be a #1 option from day 1.
He makes more sense for the Rockets because Green is a legit #1 option. If Jabari just becomes an elite 3&D player, that’s great for the Rockets. Wouldn’t move the bar much for the Magic though. There’s obviously the chance that he becomes more than that, but in the Magics case, why take that chance when you don’t have to.

Chet is gonna be a star. I watched him play at Minnehaha academy in Minneapolis with Jalen Suggs and the dude is special. Definitely going to take some time to develop an nba body but he’ll get there, and when he does I see him being a top 10 player in the league!
aint no way minnehaha a real word
@@EyeLabPNiece there’s a way lol. It’s the best basketball school in Minnesota
If he was black you’d have more likes. Sad isn’t it?
They have RJ Hampton too. He’s a beast
Skip: *sees something*
"I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING QUITE LIKE T H A T"
There’s always a player in every sports draft that receives unwarranted hate and a good majority of the time proves the media wrong. Banchero will definitely prove them wrong
Paolo is a superstar
Clearly Paolo was the right pick lol
Yeah I like J Smith too, but he's more Rashard Lewis to me. Fringe all star. Paolo could be MVP level at his peak
Nikola jovic is the steal of this draft
Timberwolves should’ve drafted him 26 instead of Moore. He’ll be a beast for the heat.
Paolo is the best player in this draft mark my word I disagree with y’all💯
Orlando must've seen Banchero in Tatum and didn't want go that route. The time Tatum was slept on. All talks were about Fultz and lonzo.
You can tell Shannon has no idea about Smith or Banchero other than what he's heard. Banchero is actually the most nba ready of the top 3.
Don't blame him. These year's rookies are more forgettable than the last
@@ireplytostupidpeople4750 No Shannon just showed he doesn't follow college basketball
@@jesusshuttlesworth8972 probably yea but to be fair most people don't
@@ireplytostupidpeople4750 True i am an Orlando fan and I just started paying attention a month ago. Banchero of course I had heard about all year.
Paolo was the biggest offensive talent of the draft. He gives you shot creation, inmense athleticism and size for a wing. He's not great at defense but he can improve that. Chet is incredible but nonetheless a huge risk and Jabari will be a good role player, just terrible handles
Everyone who keeps saying Jabari is better please watch them in close games or games that are tough one folded the other didn't very simple.
I'm a heat fan but I wanted Paolo to go to Houston cuz I wanted to see him and kpj together
I don't these think guys watch college basketball until March Madness to me Banchero was a clear cut #1
No media outlet had him #1 other than SI
@@sjchac washerman had him on #1 on his big board
Hope they all turn out great but im really rooting for Banchero, if not just cause he’s from WA.
If the Thunder think they have 4-5 years of no playoffs and still keeping Shai they crazy.
Waiting for these guys to say they were always in the Banchero bandwagon from the jump
I almost feel like Shannon and Skip have just been looking at Jay Bilas big board when it comes to draft picks.
pablo is going a superstar
Duke vs Gonzaga this past year... This is why PB went #1.
And now? Guys, he is the best
Banchero is the most nba ready guy in draft.
Walker Kessler is amazing can’t wait for the nba world to find out
PB reminds me off Malcolm Brogdan.
I feel like the biggest shock of the night was at #4 Sacramento went Keegan Murray instead of Jaden Ivey.
He didn't work for the kings. He wanted Pistons
I’m from Peachtree city and never knew Jabari went to sandy creek 🤣🤣🤣 I went to SC in 2006-7 rip Angel Anthony. Reggie. And J Dawg
Now that the season and draft is over enjoy because this usully when these shows go on a long break until nfl pre season lol
Watch the game! Paolo most skilled scorer in this draft! 3 level scorer!
My thunder had a A dradt
Betting lines tricked everybody 😆
This aged horribly and it was horrible in the moment. Paolo was the best player on one of the best teams in college basketball that year
No Capp skip steppin with this outfit 💰
👀taxi 12’s 🔥
Saint
lol! as they were talking about josh giddey he won 6 man of the year in my 2k mygm
These dudes do what they do best. Hate and set unattainable goals for others so they can hate some more in the future.
Yes and how they gonna say he doesn’t look like the top pick when he was coming into college as the number 1 prospect and talk about weaknesses like they are not things he’s trying to improve
Paolo is a baller
Palo Banchero ✅
Skip should’ve showed Jeff green some love!
Chet ceiling is Andrei Kirilenko/Porzingis but his bust potential stinks of Bargnani/Jonathan Bender
JABARI ceiling is Sonics Rashard Lewis offense but has KG level defensive upside.
Chet Holmgren Will Be A Future Superstar Especially Playing For The OKC Thunder......I See Him Being A Defensive Player Of The Year Without A Doubt!!
0 chance dude is darko
Of course someone knew something. Have you not seen Casino, with DeNiro and Pesci? There is a modern day Ace Rothstein sitting in a betting hall talking to people, moving lines and placing bets.
Good pick. The dude is a gamer
I’m not saying that Jabari won’t be good, but he has a lot more developing to do when compared to Banchero. If he doesn’t develop his handles, he’s a 3&D player.
Banchero is the only one who can be a #1 option from day 1.
Jabari Smith is far better for the Rockets
He makes more sense for the Rockets because Green is a legit #1 option. If Jabari just becomes an elite 3&D player, that’s great for the Rockets. Wouldn’t move the bar much for the Magic though.
There’s obviously the chance that he becomes more than that, but in the Magics case, why take that chance when you don’t have to.
Jabari will have the better impact on the league
