  • In this video I decided to head to a local bike park and explain the 5 most common features that you would find at most bike parks in a how to style video.
    Bikepark's are a great place for all riders from beginner to advanced to sharpen your skills and in this video I dive into how to jump, ride a wall ride, drop off tips, pumping and hitting steep kickers hopefully teaching you something by the end of the video and helping you to progress on your mountain bike.
    I am using my custom Haibike ALLMTN 7 electric bike in this video at Pheonix Cycle Works.
    I hope that you enjoy the video! :)

    Thanks Tom! I’m in the process of trying to transition from completing revs freeride line gap jumps to vision line.
    I can’t seem to get the same confidence on the roll in and I think following an experienced vision rider would help

    Totally agree with having stiffer suspension. I was doing some jumps at a bike park a few weeks ago and I'm by no means am I big spender so the jumps weren't that big but I was going sideways in the air as in not upright. So I decided to pump my rear shock up and I was much better and sturdier. One feature you have included was the shark fin, how to get the bike upright and then into a berm that's the opposite angle?

    • @TomCardy
      @TomCardy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Makes such a huge difference having the bike stiffer!

      @olliejennings5348 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally I twist my slightly shoulders so they are more horizontal, and this helps the bike to rotate beneath you when your wheels unstick on the lip. However, most shark fins that are built well should naturally help with it. My best advice is just to go with the flow of the trail, stay relaxed and don't overthink it!

    😂 the case on the pump bump. I’ve done that so many times thinking I can clear that. Good times😵‍💫

    Hello. Is it even possible to pump on a pump track when riding a rigid frame?

    • @mattgies
      @mattgies 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually it's easier than on a bike with suspension, because the suspension steals some of your pumping energy.

    • @IggasaurusRex
      @IggasaurusRex 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattgies would I need to let some air out of my tires for more squish. My bike is a 55 pound ebike. I am also just getting back into riding in my 60s.

    • @mattgies
      @mattgies 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IggasaurusRex I've never tried a pump track on an ebike, but I'm guessing the usual rule of using as much tire pressure as you can use without losing traction (more of a problem on a dirt pump track than on an asphalt one) would still apply.

    Tom, you forgot another VERY important thing on a wall ride... Don't EVER touch your brakes once on it, not even a tiny bit.

  • @pauljnicholls3929
    @pauljnicholls3929 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those kicker jumps with the steep takeoffs are killing my bike park fun. I collapse onto my bike on takeoff. I know you say "show it who's boss" but maybe it's either I have terrible body position or I need to go to the gym.. lol
    Think I need an assessment from an expert...
    Any recommendations?
