My experience buying up 'old collections' is always that it's just a bunch of bulk from new sets. Heavily picked over, nothing more recent than a decade ago or so.
I think the dream of finding a random box of alpha is just not gonna happen.
It’s tough to find older stuff let alone untouched stuff. I find that the connections I make at the flea market bear more unsearched fruit
What's funny is all the random packs.. my dad loved to collect sets and prob had sets of 1/3 of the weird shit.

I donated some boxes like this to some military guys so they had something to do during the lockdown. They played some games and had fun with target practice. Lol
Awesome finds. I never find anything like this in England. Never. And if I did; guaranteed would be wastewater damaged, curled, common cards from some overprinted set.

I also do buy lists! I've always used Troll and Toad though. They give you 25% extra bonus if you choose website credit instead of cash and also let you purchase sealed product!! How are the buy list prices for Card Kingdom brother??
Same here but I use TrollTrader (UK) and prices vary daily:)
They’re good, I find competitive. They give you +30% for cred. (That’s the prices I list, b/c that’s what I use it for)
BUT I find that they just have a much wider selection of sealed to choose from. They also let you use the cred for sealed. ABU is expensive and doesn’t let you use it for sealed

I would have offered the guy .33-.50 a card and tell him. that's a fair price for a service to charge him for buy listing his stuff to get value so it doesn't sit there for weeks and never sell
