Wow, just run across this. I'm one of the engineers at UMI and I drive this car most of the time at autocross and road race events. It now has 315/35-18's on all four corners and 520 rwhp from a Dart/AFR/Conklin 427 SBC. Thanks for making this video!
Ķ
I would love to see how 315's fit and work in the front. This is one hell of a build.
It has been a pleasure watching this video... I owned a 1980 monte with a v6 and transformed it to a 350 4 bolt main monster 600 cfm edelbrock with intake manifold mid rise The last thing I did was put 373 gears on diff but I wish I would have put a posi unit on there because Even though my limited was rebuilt it was sometimes 2 tire fire. I was young and married and stupid so I sold it for $250.00 because it required electrical work due to headers burning ignition wire all the way into the fire wall. Mine was a midnight metallic blue with 15in wide wheels in the back and skinnies in the front. I wish I would have had bucket seats converted to stick shift and posi tract also maybe supercharged. I still dream of me driving that car. But seeing your video makes me feel so much better knowing I wasn’t the only one with the same vision 1980 hot rod monte
My son actually rode in that car at Carlisle gm nationals. I have a 82 cutlass I built because of this monte.
I have a 1984 Hurst Olds and this inspired me to do mine as well. Very nice build.
@@mr84ttop34 yes I can't wait to see it at Carlisle this yr
This particular Monte Carlo generation produced some fine vehicles - not least the SS. Great video - thanks for sharing!
I have a 1978 Monte Carlo Landau. I love it.
Roadster Shop builds are the best by far.
My dad had one just like it in the early 80's, two tone green with spoked wheels, sharp little car then and still.
I'm constantly trying to find one of these with the Landau package for my dad, he had one a little ng time ago and had to leave it in one spot for a bit while he moved to somewhere else as he didn't and couldn't afford transport for it, however when he went to get it back it had been stolen his was in Burgundy red and had (if I remember correctly) a 454 ripped out of a old El Camino with a 4 speed manual and he had old school steelies on it as well which he can't even remember what exactly they were as I wasn't even though of at the time and he hadn't even met my mom, but that car was his favorite and his most cherished car he ever owned even including his current baby which is appropriately named "The Beast" and it's a 1992 C1500 extended cab long bed with a very powerful 350, yet he always says if he could he would trade his beast in a instant for his old Monte Carlo so I have made it my mission to find one that is a 1979 model and that has the Landau package and put a modern 454 big block with a T56 Super Magnum in it for it and not tell him a damn thing about it
I'm selling my 1980 Monte Carlo
That was a great car to start with.
I love 78-79 body.. minus the tail lights..
My build will have the 86-88 tail lights but the rest of the body will be stock..
Yes it's a welding bondo precition job but it will look sweet..!
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME
That is one amazing build real world R&D so great to see what can be done with old cars wishing you all the luck in the world with this project 🙋♂️
Not my cup of t but simply beautiful work as always
Love UMI products. I have your SFCs, LCAs, panhard bar, adj torque arm and your STB on my 95 Camaro Z28. 💪
Very nice work!!!
You're my best inspiration on TH-cam.
#salute
Love it! One thing that is driving me crazy though is the orange sealant, black block, black intake use black sealant wouldn’t have even noticed it!
Nice car
Awesome job!!! Outstanding!!!👍🏻👍🏻
My 79 Regal had the same factory green colour paint and same colour interior \o/
Thanks for sharing! I saw a lot of ideas. UMi has what I need..
EXCELLENT. A1. Topnotch. ✌🏾💯
Great job!Very nice!Greetings from Croatia!
Nice car, good idea, better idea, show it in motion, not still photos 👍🏾
I see you guys are from Phillipsburg nj. So and I.I owned that Monte Carlo about 10 years ago.
No way..my son rode in it at Carlisle
What kind of kit is that u got for the dash...I'm restoring my 79 monte and need all new gauges...thanks..and beautiful car by the way
Very Nice 👌
Nail that's the joint yay ya
Wow….That was my car! Same color and everything. I bought it brand new in 1980.
Why didn't he x-brace the chassis or use upgraded Chassis? These A/G & G Body frames are flimsy without bracing up, Mine was.
Nice work brother something different
Badass build!
Nice welds.
Just picked up a 1980 grand prix to get this treat ment aswell
Nice!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
What suspension brand did you guys use QA1?
you destroyed the car of its originality and made original montes even more rare now, congrats
Sorry Philipsburg pa. I am from Phillipsburg nj . I sold this car to guy from trevose pa
Where you get the steering shaft from?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Where do I find the build source page?
Q do ermosamente como cuanto costaria una sus pension asi me in teresa tengo un malibu i es identico en suspension
I think this monte carlo is a Landau version
I see you cut the spindles....what brackets where installed for the bigger front brakes
Umi sell a kit check their web site
@@redneckswitwheels thank you sir
How much would a project like that cost. Parts and labor.
That’s how you do a 78 MC
Its leaking a bit of oil at the front lower cover
1:45 monte Carlos 1980 venta 5000
Flaming river I think
Was a company that had electric exuast it out in the 90s
A great start but ruined with a lot aftermarket interior parts and typical rims.
Need to clean or sand blast the undercarriage. You got surface rust looks like shit with all the new parts on it .you cant even pay attention to the new stuff . When u see the undercarriage like that . Do gloss black or color of car under there.
i know were a 79 t top is sitting guy wants or i should say he wil sell me the car for 100 buck all complete very good body just don't run but i all ready have a lot of cars and trucks
What state are you in bc I like the t tops
@@shawnjones9197 in oregon i got the t top it is a 79 z28 rs t top with the full spoiler kit from factory the one were the spoiler is in front and in back of all wheels plus a hard top z28 he told me come a get them out of here u can have them i can't beat free
@@jeffrey4547 any chance that vehicle is still available. I also live in Oregon
@@jmcginty7816 that one is gone but can get other cars what do u like or are u stuck on camero's do u like 4x4
I know that car...
Looks really beefy, but it has 0 style.
I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10.
What was wrong with those firestone rally style wheels?!?! Plz someone tell me! Monte's are cool with a set of rallies; there's too many out there now that look like donks!
So this tire and wheel size is needed for performance not the donk look....18s are hardly donk rims...
@@redneckswitwheels Just my thought.
I think speaking for myself that all that you've done to that car is just short of having a better driver
So you put about 10k in it. Still looks like a Demolition Derby car.
c'omon man.....I am not talking about taste....but this is nice car ....for me this is like arte....because I like "old"car's....from stell-or metal.....sorry for my english....I live in Croatia and we dont hawe car like this ....engine like this ...Yes there is Mercedes or Bmw ..Audi with "big"and strong engine but still...
Car is sexy as hell.
That body-style is GM's ugliest breed ever.....I would'nt spend a buck on it.
