I think these are best made with Espresso instead of regular coffee. A sweet base(syrup) can easily be made at home by cooking 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar and stirring..when the sugar has melted take it off the heat and let cool..can be kept in the fridge for about a month.

instead of chocolate chips I took some cookies I had, put them in a bag, then I crushed them into pieces and used that instead and it still tasted really good and at night instead of coffee I use chocolate milk and it still tastes amazing!!!!
just slightly tweaked this recipe and omg.. never going to starbucks again. instead of using pure coffee, i use the Lungo button on my keurig rivo to make basically two shots of espresso. works fine that way.. i just needed to add more ice then u showed. and for the chocolate chips, i used the Ghirardelli chocolate chips and it came out great.

The Starbucks version however, it has salty and almost carob elements that I really haven't been able to mimic at home. When I really want to share a nice frozen coffee at home I use a Starbucks java chips frappe as the base. I know I can "just buy java chips" but there are so many brands. No way my teeny kitchen can handle that taste test.
I got a little excited and didn't give my espresso time to cool, so it melted my ice. I was ready for it. I love JAVA CHIP FRAPPUCCINO !! Thank you. The extra espresso is in the freezer at the moment. :)
A Java Chip Frappuccino is basically a chocolate milk shake with chocolate chips in it with a little bit of espresso. You could order a double chocolate chip frappuccino which is essentially the same thing without the espresso.
Your description has a typo. You put chocolate chips twice and no syrup. Thank you for the recipe! I will have to try it, since I love the Java Chips at Starbucks.

I used pectin as a binding agent and it came out great! You can find it in your flour isle at the supermarket.

I once got this at Starbucks and they didn't blend the ice all the way. It was like I was eating ice. I'm going to have to make this! :D

The key ingredient to a frapp is the coffee syrup. That's what gives the frapps it's texture and correct taste.
