  • Now that I have assembled the 21 different fibers I plan to spin during this year's Tour de Fleece, I am ready to start spinning.
I have chosen to spin undyed and minimally processed animal fibers this year. I have sheep's wool, some alpaca, some goat, and some bunny fiber - oh yeah, I also have bison down. In this video, I show each of my fibers and talk of their properties and in some cases, I will share a bit about the animals the fiber came from.
I have made a short blog post to accompany this video and it can be found here ... pithypondering...

I enjoyed seeing all of the fibers you were going to spin for TDF, and listening to your stories. Blessings.

Do you have any sheep or do you buy fleece?

I purchase my fleece either from breeders or from weaving/spinning stores. My daughter raised angora rabbits for awhile, but we resisted the sheep/alpaca temptation 😊 I grew up on a dairy farm and honestly had enough of animal husbandry as a youth😹
I really love attending wool/fiber festivals and buying directly from a breeder or breeder co-op.
