Today we are unboxing the most original watch this year, CIGA Design Blue Planet, an award winning watch and first chinese watch to win an award at the GPHG or Grand Prix de Horlogerie de Geneve, Horology Grand Prix of Geneve. It won in the Challenge category where watches have to be under 3.500 CHF in price.
With a unique time telling system and a beautiful 3d carved earth that rotates, it has a high horology feel and look to it, not to mention it is simply breathtakingly beatiful.

what a beautiful design! Really like it
They really missed a trick. They should have made it solar powered like the actual Earth. But I guess one could argue that the kinetic movement that powers the watch is akin to the geological processes that also contribute to the Earth's power.

Can the maintenance of the caliber of this watch after 5 years be done by any watchmaker or must it be sent to Ciga Design?
Any watchmaker as the disc is simpli a large hand, the movement is pretty classical with just different gear ratios
It looks great ... but i'd expect a serious wristband for that price 😔

Hands allowed to read time immediately from the short glance. This watch will require user to focus prior to tell time. I don't think it will be widely accepted. But thank you for the unboxing, cool as always
Its a great watch. I wish it's limited edition and and there's a second hand....
it's easier to explain and understand how it works if you put it in minutes rather then degrees: the minute hand/ring has to move /hour as much as a minute hand on a regular watch moves in 65 minutes. when counting 1 hour the minute ring has to start at let's say 12 and finish one revolution at 12 and then also add the distance between the 12 and 1. so the minute ring counts 60 minutes but moves on the dial the distance a minute hand would move on a regular watch in 65 minutes..
It’s faaaaar too difficult to read in ANY light.
Well that is true of all Richard Mille watches, where Ciga Design gets most of their inspiration from

They should have kept the globe intact and made the compass align with the timezone of the place it overlaps with. I am from India and i won't like seeing the compass pointing at one time and India in the map at some other timezone.

A watch should not be that much of a complicated.... the basic fundamental of a watch design is that it must to be simply readable.. rotating earth 🌏 is so cool and clever .. but in the terms of full-filling the basic need of a watch to be honest this is a no go..
It seems simpler than a regular watch. Instead of having to look at two different hands in two different places, this one only required you to look in a single place
