  • Hello beautiful friends, it's been three weeks since my last video but I'm not sure that my stitching shows it. Haha! Ever onward.

    It’s so amazing how our cross stitch holds the memories and emotions of when we stitch it ❤
    A movie you and your daughter could watch is Kon-Tiki, a true story of a Norwegian explorer who sailed thousands of miles alone to the Polynesia islands. Your home schooling sounds amazing! 😊

      They even named my daughter’s day care group Kon-Tiki! 😂

      I'm going to look up Kon-Tiki! I have Polynesian heritage so it's always fun to have a little connection there.

    August looks so cute! And now you HAVE hit 50%!!! 🙌 that yarn looks super fun! AND it's my go to yarn brand for all of my blankets and scarves! What a great start! Love your new patterns ❤❤
    Book suggestion! There's not a TON of pirate stuff in this book, really just a scene, maybe 2? It's called "The Inventor's Secret" by Chad Morris (first in a trilogy). It takes place a bit in the future at an elite boarding school where they use technology to do things such as watch historical events, explore STEM activities, and the like. The use of technology also brings up some good ethical questions, such as "if you can travel to the past, say the Titanic, do you try to change what happened?" and some other things like that. Doing a terrible job book talking it, but I really do recommend it! The series is written for middle grades/middle school and the 2 main characters are twin siblings and one is a girl. And the books are totally free of language or suggestive stuff.
    Hope you have a safe trip and a great stitchy week!

      Thank you for the book suggestion! I haven't heard of that one. I'll look it up.
      I remarked to my daughter this morning that it's funny that my flosstube was posting on the same day I hit 50%. Haha! 🤍

    Good to see you again! Glad you had a great trip & got back safely. I agree with the q snaps. 8x11 is the size I prefer too but changing them out for another project just bothers me. It's not hard but I just want to pick up a project & have it ready to go 😂 Your finish of August is sooo cute! Treasure Hunt Bookshelf is amazing as always. Love Bubble Bubble...can't wait to see your progress next month. Hope you have a great solo weekend trip. Stay safe my friend. Much love ❤️

    Hi Suki! I’ve been following your Treasure Hunt Bookshelf over this last year. It’s so amazing! ❤ gosh I remember when you started that row and now you’re just about finished with it! Looking forward to seeing you begin the next row. Will that be the last row? Beautiful work!

      Awww, you're so sweet! It feels like I just started the row but it's been 10ish months! There are two more rows in this piece. 🥰🤍

    Whenever I had a nightmare as a little girl, my Mother always laughed and reassured me that it was just a silly dream and it’s not real. Later I read that it’s just your brain shedding random thoughts or something.
    Anyway it’s not reality and nightmares have never bothered me since. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @thebrowneyedstitcher
      @thebrowneyedstitcher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that there is much we don't know about dreams. It makes sense to me that dreams are your brain processing things outside the confines of rationality and reality. Or maybe it's just a different reality like virtual reality is a different reality than the one we call real life. It's still something we experience that activates our nervous systems. It's really kind of fascinating even if science can currently tell us not very much about it all.

    Fun Fact: Australia was first called New Holland :)

    • @thebrowneyedstitcher
      @thebrowneyedstitcher  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ooooohhhh, I need to know more about this because we read a Danish story which referenced and Zealand and I began to wonder about New Zealand getting it's name and I still haven't looked that up.

    • @rivkahburch8461

      @@thebrowneyedstitcher Australia has had a few names. Van Diemen's Land,Terra Australis Incognita, New Holland and Australia. The Dutch, French and English all came to Australia before the settlement of white man in 1788. Definitely worth looking into.

      The Zealand in the Danish story is most likely one of the Islands in Denmark,

    • @thebrowneyedstitcher
      @thebrowneyedstitcher  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, yes, it is. It just made me think about how I knew about York/New York and Jersey/New Jersey (etc), but not ever Zealand/New Zealand.

    So happy to see another video from you! Always enjoy seeing your projects on Insta but seriously thr camera just makes them look even more fabulous!😊
    I love the explanation to your new charts that you picked up. Stitching is great in and of itself, but when we have pieces that are showcasing a journey, or a specific time in our lives, or just a deeper meaning ,that is pretty special and worth hanging on to.
    Take care of yourself and enjoy your solo weekend!🥰🙏🏻❤️

    • @thebrowneyedstitcher
      @thebrowneyedstitcher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe I'm stating the obvious but I'm very meaning driven. Sometimes it's pretty or fun but mostly, there's something deeply meaningful to me.
      There's something about chatting about our projects on camera that adds a little extra something to the interactions with other stitchers. That's why we all encourage others to make flosstubes! 🤍

    The treasure hunt bookshelf I’m dying to do. How do you stitch on it. Do the scroll rods fit on your lowery stand? Or do you use another stand.

    • @thebrowneyedstitcher
      @thebrowneyedstitcher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One of my earlier flosstube videos shows my setup for Treasure Hunt Bookshelf. I think it's #5. The stand and scroll rods are from K's Creations. You could totally use two Lowery stands with scroll rods as long as mine are.

    • @thebrowneyedstitcher
      @thebrowneyedstitcher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I double checked and it is video 5. It's right at the beginning so you can easily watch that part without going through the whole video.
