Ive never seen anyone ever drum like this with a wardrobe like that haha. You do not look like a death metal drummer at all, but hell, Mohammed Suicmez doesnt look like a death metal guitarist haha. Awsome job man. U hit the nail on the head with this one. U score a 15 out of 10.
THIS GUY is one of the best drummers i've seen. But damn, he missed some parts. Still, the drumming still sounds unique and badass! Keep up the good work, Jan!
@EvilSamson19 - most people with two hi-hats leave the traditional more closed while the secondary (open-handed) is in the open position. Gives both styles while still being able to use double-bass. Having said that, neither one of his is all that open...lol :)
@luciferincestus i completely agree... Jan is a definately in the best drummers out there... along with kollias, brutal dave, roddy, hell hammer, nick barker, tony laureno, romain goulon... many more.... love this video... thanx Jan!!!
Wikipedia tells me that this guy is not the drummer for Behemoth. Is he just a studio guy? Did he record this for Behemoth or is this just a drum cover?
This guy looks like a pretty average normal guy without looking metalhead at all: Plays extreme death metal drums 👍 It can't get more badass than that. Awesome cover btw!
Ok heres a question for everyone, what does Daimonos means, ive looked nearly everywhere and cant find out what it means, not even the lyrics to this song give a clear meaning.
One of the sickest left hand in metal :) You can't JUST do this with technique. You need excellent technique and to be in shape and stay in shape. (=can't slack with practice)
@Affenhaug well considering he doesnt haedbang too much or get into the music really it seems when performing live. then again its hard to headbang when youre playing sweeps as clean as he does haha
@N0TI86 keep in mind that what he is playing is extremely hard. There are a lot of " sickdrummers" that play their songs less sloppy but have much easier songs than behemoths fingerkillers. =)
so sick. love how much he gets into it. nothing better than a drummer who physically shows how passionate they are. nothing worse than a guy sitting there looking like they would rather not even play. ew
Seems like almost all killer extreme metal drummers in europe come from either germany or poland (few exceptions ofc Kollias etc.) why? Germany discipline. Polish Power That's how they do!!!
Agreed. He's fucking solid. Monster talent. But it's kinda sloppy. Not that I could do any better, but yea, it's definitely noticeable. Probably because I'm a drummer too. I notice the little stuff.
nowadays you can cheat as much as you want or need ON CD. part by part etc... but thats not the point...the extreme drumming is a big discipline and it should not go that way in the near future ^^
It should sound Exactly the same if it's done clean. I can listen to this without looking at it, and his two footed blast sounds exactly the same as a lot of the guys that do the one footed blast. It's all just a matter of opinion anyway. I prefer doing two footed blast because it makes sense and saves energy, and just feels right to me.
imo jan does it crazier than Inferno on this one. Because Inferno plays all the bomb blasts with triplets on the feet (like the drummer of krisiun) and jan plays regular bombs with 16ths on the kicks. The triplet bomb blast misses alot of power and it's kinda stupid Inferno does this with pretty much all the bomb blasts on Evangelion(and there are alot of them).
You're definitely one of the better drummers on TH-cam, but it would be nice if you took more time to learn these songs. Fills, techniques with the blasts, etc... 2:18 is an example of a fill you should have learned
Blast beats or double bass? I'd have to guess the bpm of the blast beats, but the double bass in this song never goes over 230/240. If you want Behemoth's fastest song that would be Shemhamforash, which is 275.
Smart drummer... using two feet for the blast beats. Saves a lot of energy. Most metal drummers seem to do one-footed blasts. Just doesn't make sense to me...
music = knowledge, not style or other boring borderlines. Death Metal is extreme music and any good musician would appreciate it. hellllll f****ing yeah!.
Do I? Do you choose to argue about categorising music, categorising them or both? You can point where Behemoth`s good oldschool ends, same goes to Vader- listen to their first album and compare it to actual, from 2011. Anyway I`m conservative and I dislike when black metal or ANY metal bands goes into metalcore because it`s somehow brillant (complex), This is like you choose to write comment with your dick, because it`s hard (innuendo wasn`t planned :D) and unique. How about that, sir?
@TonyForTheWin Well, it's not exactly a good thing to not use your wrists at all. Wrists give you more power and control. BUT... once you get to extreme tempos, you're in a territory where your body kinda dictates what is natural for it. You see slightly different technique with every drummer. And there's hardly anything you can do against that. And every real pro realises that. Jan's advantage is that power in his fingers is out of this world. He worked on it and now it works for him.
Great playing! But please allow me to do some critics. The essence of Inferno's playing actually ain't caught by all-blasting beats, but some small details, that make his playing so distinct (e.g. bomb blast on the chorus, where you play traditional). That's all those fills that you cover just by random ones. No, his fills are the ones following the melody. Two advices here: 1. When you want to cover, try to play it 1:1 first, then "cover" 2. Learn to find those specific moments. Best regards!
@Frodamn Daimonos is the Latinised spelling of the Greek word for demons in ancient Greek religion. He also alludes to Greek mythology with his references to Chaldean Priests, with Chaldea being the Hellenistic Greek word for an area in Babylon that is today Southern Iraq. I've actually learned a lot of cool historical facts from Behemoth. Amon Amarth is good for that, too!
@thispagesux Read it again, read it right. I said I'm not impressed compared to the original drumtrack. I don't know about you, but I pay a lot of attention to the details. Just beacuse it isn't spot on to the original drumtrack doesn't mean it is bad drumming, if you catch my drift?
@burythebody666 i think that they make every technique you play on double bass sounds like shit. if you know what i mean. im not also saying that they are not good or they are cheating pedals but what im trying to say is that they realy help you with your double bass techniques ; ) :D
i care to not even attempt Inferno's playing. i just listen to his music. im just giving my opinion, im not shit talking this dude. sure he's a good drummer. and you obviously havent seen Inferno record, because he hits just as hard as anyone else would at the speeds he goes.
The only man who can make polo shirts metal as fuck
nope. didnt happen
Um yes it did
amazing natural drum tone and talent. mad respect
Holy shit..this is metal viagra. Brilliant job, man...
You gotta give him credit, he`s a beast. Don`t be jealous.
OUTSTANDING JOB!!!!!!!
@hyrael2 - Jan has full access to our youtube account and uploads his own videos here... as do many others.
Great song, great band, great cover. Insane finger technique and great sounding. That only shows how great drummer Inferno is!
@Kentsuruki 1:31 - 1:34 is a bomb blast, it's a blast beat where you play twice as fast with your feet as with your hand that is hitting the snare.
Bow to YAN in adoration!
This is the best fucking drum cover of Daimonos on youtube.
The sound of that snare is AMAZING.... What snare is it?
THIS GUY is one of the best drummers i've seen. But damn, he missed some parts. Still, the drumming still sounds unique and badass! Keep up the good work, Jan!
awesome blasts men
Axis longboard or pearl eliminator demon drive ?
Woo, 666 likes! This is amazing, it's almost impossible to follow Inferno's drumming, but he played this as if it were easy. Good job!
Sick!
best top comment I've seen in some time, well done my friend
very nice.
BEHEMOTH IS BY FAR THE MOST IN YOUR FACE MONSTROUS SOUND DEATH/BLACK METAL BAND EVER
damn it dude u are really an inspiration!!!! now i want to work my ass off to be as good as you!!!!
If they need to replace Inferno, this guy would fit perfectly.
@EvilSamson19 - most people with two hi-hats leave the traditional more closed while the secondary (open-handed) is in the open position. Gives both styles while still being able to use double-bass. Having said that, neither one of his is all that open...lol :)
This guy is so so good
@luciferincestus i completely agree...
Did he record this for Behemoth or is this just a drum cover?
the tuning is great. beast as fuck.
what snare do you use? and skins?
Jesus tap dancing Christ. Wow.
Once I thought it was imposible to replace Inferno in case of him leave the band...
...Now I see it is not. o/
But one has to come up and write these drum parts too, Lol! Another skill Inferno is so damn proficient at...
This guy looks like a pretty average normal guy without looking metalhead at all: Plays extreme death metal drums 👍 It can't get more badass than that.
Awesome cover btw!
you are the ultimate "sleeper"
@KillingKillFire I think he offers to play for people, does some professional stuff like this etc, but does not have a official band
DAT SNARE!!!
Ok heres a question for everyone, what does Daimonos means, ive looked nearly everywhere and cant find out what it means, not even the lyrics to this song give a clear meaning.
wow
dude,you're sick!
niiiiiiiiiiiice
wich tipes of stick do you use?
One of the sickest left hand in metal :) You can't JUST do this with technique. You need excellent technique and to be in shape and stay in shape. (=can't slack with practice)
if behemoth need a drummer curse that comm but you could pull it off great job sounds pro pro love it
Fun hack- Play this video at 1.5X speed and it's like watching a hummingbird play drums
amazing!!!!
now you need to master SIngle foot blasts :D
Oh my Aleister Crowley look at his hands!!!
You seriously look like Thomas Lang in this video!
@zayz505 Chuck Norris doesn't play drums because Jan is already playing :)
Harvey Levin on drums?
@espalexi666 Now 5! What has the world come to?
spielst du pearl demon drive oder axis
Nah, Krimh Kerim already replaced him temporarily because of Inferno's appendix surgery
@TommyGalazkowski
well looking at the whole song its sad that only 14 secs of it is any good..
Some sick drumming here. Does anyone else think he looks like bear grylls aswell? :P|
@Affenhaug well considering he doesnt haedbang too much or get into the music really it seems when performing live. then again its hard to headbang when youre playing sweeps as clean as he does haha
@guitarman3190 Check his "miasma" video in his channel and you'll see he can blast with 1 foot... idk why he doesnt do it on this vid :p
too fast is not always quality
Exactly. He appears to play fast, but he does A LOT of mistakes.
burbon you do realize this is an extremely hard song to play right ? For him to even cover this is amazing. He did a great job
are the toms triggerd?
@N0TI86 keep in mind that what he is playing is extremely hard. There are a lot of " sickdrummers" that play their songs less sloppy but have much easier songs than behemoths fingerkillers. =)
excelente como tocas igual de rapido que el tema ese de nile
The tom's could be a lot louder.. I can barely hear them...
and sometimes it sounds like he just stops for a few seconds : S
@zachf914 yes
I can do this slower
I bet I can do it slower than you
im the best at doing this slow. i do it so slow i havent even hit the first note yet
Bitch please, I'm playing it slower than all ov you with my mind, I don't even need to move.
I quit. No more drums for me.
good thing i like playing sludge
Keaton Williams lol!
i counted how many times he hit the snare. It's at least 14 times.
That finger control though, bet the ladies love that
so sick. love how much he gets into it. nothing better than a drummer who physically shows how passionate they are. nothing worse than a guy sitting there looking like they would rather not even play. ew
Seems like almost all killer extreme metal drummers in europe come from either germany or poland (few exceptions ofc Kollias etc.) why?
Germany discipline.
Polish Power
That's how they do!!!
Because they learned from all the American death metal drummers who created the art and improved upon it.
True but th-cam.com/video/ldFk6_0AdgI/w-d-xo.html
Nils is Norwegian I guess... :)
Jan Benkwitz which planet r u from? this is just unbelievable!
fucking astonishing
Watching this makes me realize how great Inferno is to come up witht that impossible shit! And this dude kills it all! Great job man!
ive never seen anyone play this wow so intense!!!
Sick foot technique dude
Jan really does make this look effortless. His feet and hands look like there barely moving. Simply amazing on his part this is insane
good playing but not precise. he isnt tight.
Agreed. He's fucking solid. Monster talent. But it's kinda sloppy. Not that I could do any better, but yea, it's definitely noticeable. Probably because I'm a drummer too. I notice the little stuff.
@Gerald Iwan So you're saying he played this correctly?
@@jamdwhi Dude, it's a cover....
That's an awesome sounding kit
Total finger control. FEEL THE POWER!!!
Freaking killer job on the blasts man, great overal control tightness and stamina. Excellent :)
You simply fly over those drums man, you kick so much ass!!!
nowadays you can cheat as much as you want or need ON CD. part by part etc... but thats not the point...the extreme drumming is a big discipline and it should not go that way in the near future ^^
Hey Jan, please do a cover os Shemhamforash from this same album. I wana see that shit!
It should sound Exactly the same if it's done clean. I can listen to this without looking at it, and his two footed blast sounds exactly the same as a lot of the guys that do the one footed blast. It's all just a matter of opinion anyway. I prefer doing two footed blast because it makes sense and saves energy, and just feels right to me.

the snare is triggered. you can see the black trigger at 11 o'clock :). Fine sound!
Many fill ins are not played correctly. particularly in the intro! You often have a problem with the right speed also. The sound of the kid is great.
You're definitely one of the better drummers on TH-cam, but it would be nice if you took more time to learn these songs. Fills, techniques with the blasts, etc... 2:18 is an example of a fill you should have learned
Jan would deserves plus one 0 at the end of the views' value.
It'd still be impossible to replace Inferno, unless this guy can think of a insane drumtrack like this.
Blast beats or double bass? I'd have to guess the bpm of the blast beats, but the double bass in this song never goes over 230/240. If you want Behemoth's fastest song that would be Shemhamforash, which is 275.

music = knowledge, not style or other boring borderlines. Death Metal is extreme music and any good musician would appreciate it.
hellllll f****ing yeah!.
Haha from the first minute you can see Jan's really feeling the song, awesome man
disculpame me confundi de video como vi otro video del mismo baterista haciendo un cover de nile...gracias x avisarme sobre ese detalle
damn i didnt know behemoth was actually good. shit was pretty intense.
ahora q m acuerdo lo decia x la misma velocidad del blast beat como inferno toca death black y el de nile toca death solo....
Yeah, it is just showing off I think. And people are capable of such. Watch Tim Yeung's feet. He's ridiculous all around.
Do I? Do you choose to argue about categorising music, categorising them or both? You can point where Behemoth`s good oldschool ends, same goes to Vader- listen to their first album and compare it to actual, from 2011.

would have sounded better if your hi hat was opened a bit more

Those are Vic-Firth SIH 1 headphones, they can be picked up almost anywhere. Very popular and nice headphones :)
@thispagesux Read it again, read it right.
