It certainly is the case for me with Chess, Go, and my art. Part of getting good is powering through those plateaus without getting demoralized.
Yeah I did the same a few weeks back, I started playing the london and just winning every game as white instead of my standard opening with e4 , Just learning a standard opening which is so solid like the london or something that starts with d4 made things easier. That was my problem I was losing too many games as white , meanwhile as black I mostly win with the scandinavian defense cause people at this rating just want to trap the queen or attack and they will eventually blunder. Scandinavian is niche and nobody knows how to play against niche openings, my whole reasoning for scandinavian is that it fights for the center early in the game and your queen is already developed. Initially I had an issue where I didn't know where to place my queen after taking the pawn but when I learned that it is safe on a5 I knew that was the opening that fits my playstyle.

And "Fou" translates to "Crazy" in English. xQc was excited and nervous and his brain forgot the Bishop piece's name and he simply translated it's French name, Fou or "Crazy". lol Funny stress glitch. I like that guy.
You're giving XQC's chat way too much credit by saying they told him to castle to troll him. They're not that bright. They only told him to castle because you said that's what he should do. Unfortunately, the timing was bad and he had already moved the knight when they'd sent the messages telling him to castle.
It's honestly pretty impressive to see xqc go from a complete noob (scholar's mated by a throbbing Charlie lol) to where he is now. The kind of tactics he is seeing are fittingly reflected in his rating too.
One thing that I have to give XQC credit for that few people have mentioned is how he uses his time to try and find good moves. Many players around XQC’s rating, as seen from his opponents in this video also, play a 10 minute game as if it were a 3 minute blitz game. His first opponent literally got destroyed while spending less than 30% of his time. It’s that type of thinking that’ll cause a player to get stuck at a rating level, and I think as long as XQC continues to do what he’s doing right now, which is thinking through the consequences of each of his move to the best of his ability, he will continue to improve.

Actually at the last game XQC could still fight when he made his paln to move up the rook18:48, he only took the exchange not in the right order... If he had actually taken with the rook that knight, you should notice that the pawn is unable to take on the rook as it's pinned. so the only other piece that can really take is the other knight. This way if knight takes bishop takes knight and again nobody can touch the bishop. Little trick here but may not be easy as the opponent was good... is that with that follow up opens a path to stalemate, as bishop and rook work together: rook takes on g7+and then just move the rook away for a discovered check, on G file and do again g7+ continously untl 3 move repetition and u get a draw.
xqc is near my level in rapid now, although hes a few hundred points lower in other time controls, but he's gotta work on tactics. Rook e7 is pretty obvious move in that later game, and the check with the bishop sets up rook e7, but he missed all of the tactics around those moves
