Thanks. I was looking to braid a walking stick handle and this works great. Have modified the method for an 8 strand so it conforms to the curve better.
I've been a mechanic my whole life. I know the difference between people who are comfortable in their craft and people who are not comfortable in their craft. A lot of people who are not comfortable in their craft show it and are overly focusing on little imperfections. As to where listening to you felt like going in sitting down next to one of my elders to get schooled for a minute. It was very enjoyable to watch. If there's one thing that everybody's going to lose with technology it's going to be Hands-On skilled craft like this or hand pinstriping a car for example. Because you can't teach these skills in a book. Why a lot of times people don't appreciate the cost of something they think that they watched you do it and x amount of time that your your current present time all the value that you're worth. It's like no sun sit down I've got over 50,000 hours into this I'm a master okay you're paying for my time before so that I could do it in a short time for you now. And that's what's ruining the market for skilled Craftsmen because somebody's going to go undercut them and the client doesn't know the difference until they've already bought it or they don't even care. I don't mean to rant but when I look at something like this that's what I think of
I wrap a piece around from where I want to start, to where I want to finish, in a spiral, edges touching...then add around 6 inches and double that. That would be 1 piece. You then cut another piece the same length.
Took a couple of minutes to get my head around but now I know I know. Great clear instructions and good camera angle 👌
Agreed 100% I did have to hold my phone upside down though lol
Thanks.

Makes me want to go and get a bat and give it a try 😄

Very solid presentation! Inspired to do my first flogger. Subscribed.
Thank you thank you thank you so much!! I just finished my first handle and now my thumbs can barely type but it looks so good!!
Yes very nicely done, you can tell you're a skilled worker because you're calmly talking and explaining at the same time.

@@SHAMAN.VISION thank you so much! We seem to be of the same thoughts.
Very nicely done. Much appreciated.
Very impressive, nice video. Just ran across this artform.
Amazing!
That is awesome. 👍🇬🇧
Thanks for the inspiration! Can you give me direction on what wire to purchase. What I have keeps breaking as I twist/pull. Thank you.
Thanks for the great tutorial! I was wondering if you could provide a model / link of the pliers you are using?
Those are parallel jaw pliers from Amazon and the little cutters are from harbor freight
Suggested smoothing method for a rectangular (wood mallet) handle?
Hmm...I'd make sure the leather is thin and well conditioned veg tan and use a light twisting and bunching...that's what I'd try first.
How thick is the leather youre working with? Can this technique be done on a handle that isn't round, like an axe?
Around 2-3oz leather, can be on odd shapes...measure circumference and divide by number of plaits.
👍👍👍
do you have a formula for calculating the length you'll need?
