Gina makes her debut to the channel! Gina and Mike discuss a mishap that is now referred to as "The Incident". Mike's rookie off roading skills and lack of preparedness have caught up to him, resulting in an SOS call and an off road recovery. It's a good thing they had the Garmin In-Reach!

No harm, no foul.
I remember when our unit was training at Ft. Sill and one of the 5 ton maintenance trucks found the only deep mud hole on the base that day. The driver panicked and buried it up to the rear axle before finally admitting defeat and calling me on the radio. I had a humvee positioned on a solid rocky outcropping in front of the 5 ton and hooked the winch from the 5 ton to the humvee since there were no trees to use. I had the driver hold his brake, put it in low gear and wait for the winch to take up the slack. Then to release the brake slowly while barely giving it gas while the winch was constantly being reeled in. Worked like magic.
Nice!
Let’s have Gina in more videos! Glad you’re all okay! Always be prepared because you never know what can happen out there… & the Jeep looks great! 😁 (Love, Chloe) 😉
Thanks Chloe!
Gina is a good sport indeed! Preparedness is often overlooked and is an absolutely critical skill for having fun in situations that could strand you for hours or even days. Great video!
Thank you!
Years ago 1991 me a and 3 other girls went " muddin" in the Kilgore hills in NE Mississippi in an old open top jeep at night. We ended up sideways up to our butts stick in the mud. We had a wench but to no avail. So we walked about a mile to the main road and flagged down a woman in a pickup truck We hopped in the back and she took us to one of the girls homes. The next day the girls brother and father went and retrieved the jeep. It was a learning moment. Our only excuse is we were young. I'm glad yall weren't hurt and no major damage.
I definitely can’t use the “young” excuse anymore 😂 thanks for watching 😁
No damage done and no one hurt. Cut your some slack Mike!
Thank you!!
One of the sage rules of off roading is when you mix dirt and mud, you get more mud. See if you can get a copy the Army FM 20-22 Vehicle Recovery Operations 1962 or 1970 versions are available online. Good job on letting others know what you went through as everyone gets stuck sometime. A key point to always remember is 9 times out of ten, its best to go out the way you came in and never have more ego than fear of getting stuck, as you can always return when it isn't as muddy.
Well said! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
I'm pretty sure that getting a Jeep stuck in the mud is a rite of passage.
Definitely! The trick is to be prepared when it happens. Thanks for watching!
Wow! Mike and Gina, so what winch are you going with? Lol. Great video Mike. ... (edit) Oops, I commented too soon 😮🤘👍
Thanks Sam!
Bad ass jeep
😎
Morning,
Please don't sell the Jeep - I just started following your channel last week and have really been enjoying your adventures with Juniper!
Thank goodness there was no real damage done, no one was injured, and the pups did okay.
Definitely need a winch.
Boy, your dear wife is an awfully good sport!
Thanks for sharing this with the rest of us, and take good care...
Jeep isn’t going anywhere and it now has a winch! Thanks for watching!
I know where that’s at. I live one county over. Glad you had the Garmin.
Us too!
Pulley winch around a tree stump mounted to the front would have pulled you right out I think. I believe they're remote controlled wenches.
SOS has to be pretty costly.
The lack of a winch problem has been solved. Thanks for watching!
Gina or Gena? She is a great sport! At least you had a partner in crime with the pups! And now you are prepared and sharing to educate! ❤😊
She certainly is an amazing sport! lol Her name is spelled Gina. Thank you!
Great mods to the Jeep!!
Thank you! It was a fun process doing all the mods.
Does that series of Jeep have front and rear lockers? The Rubicon does.
It doesn’t have lockers, but it does use an anti slip system on the rear differential in 4 low. I think it’s called Track-Lok. Not really a true locker but it does work quite well.
Hi Gina!
Gina says Hi! Thanks for watching 😂
You have the wrong tires for mudding.
I know. I don’t want mud tires and I don’t plan on intentionally wheeling in the mud if I can help it. Thanks for watching!
Where was this? What trail/road?
It’s a place called Ritchie Mines, in Ritchie County, WV. I will have specific GPS coordinates on Patreon soon. In fact, there is GPS data available for all of our videos www.patreon.com/nowherebound thanks for watching!
Did Garmin charge you? I always have mine
They didn’t charge me any extra on top of the subscription fee. However the towing company certainly charged me! 🥴
