As they were running aways from that money grabbing guy her eyes suddenly seemed more lively.
We heard Kanao speak back on the mountain when she confirmed Nezuko's name. And while not able to hear her, we also saw her giving orders to the Kakushi during the cleanup afterwards :)
In the Kanao flashback, you guys got to see Shinobu's real (angrier) personality and her sister's softer personality that Shinobu puts on. She also got that beautiful Haori from her sister
I'm surprised you guys missed how different Shinobu is now from who she was in the past. The death of her sister is a huge part of her character that hopefully they go over in the future.

Kanao's backstory is one of my favorites! The way she cannot decide things for herself without outside influence is one of the most interesting quirks in this show. I hope that she can become more confident in her choices! Plus, she's so darn cute 🥺
@carlie @ange 18:28: you both were still caught up with inosuke's subtitle rage against Shinobu and didn't explicitly say this out loud but i thought I'd point it out for the rest of the crowd: what Shinobu was doing there is demonstrating how she understood the motivations of each person: for tanjiro she told him that mastering the technique (on roof) would lead him to a world where his sister is accepted at the very least. for inosuke she realized that he's a defiant soul that will not accept being limited by other people, only by himself, so she challenges his belief so he can uno reverse her and show her that he can do it. and finally for zenitsu, she taps into his fears of not being good enough for people or being loved or being alone and his hopeless romanticism and plays it off like he'd be impressing her if he did master the technique. this is also a throwback to how she kept Gyo distracted during their forest fight by tapping into his subconscious fear of not being loved or liked by anyone, and distracted him long enough to almost stick him with a standby boot thing while he was in his own head. and all of that is said indirectly about shinobu's intellect and empathy\insight levels without even directly stating it narratively. thought it was cool!
what Shinobu said is right, the wording for each breathings are very strict so if they have different kanji, it's a different type even though the two looks similar what Tanjiro used is called Hinokami; hi = fire, kami = god (fire god = sun) Rengoku was introduced as the flame hashira (enbashira); Shinobu said in this episode that Rengkou is a flame breathing user, flame using the kanji Honoo hi (火) =/= honoo (炎) pretty subtle thing especially if you are watching it with subtitle as opposed to reading the manga in japanese
I feel so sad for Kano as I personally feel and took her "I heard a sound like a "SNAP" and I never knew pain again" I think that was metaphorical for she was "Broken" so to speak after years of Neglect from her parents and them beating her till they finally threw her out sadly cause they didn't wanna look after her so of course she got put into slavery which was when she really "Broke" she lost herself and her self-worth as a person because no one ever cared for her or loved her it's unfortunate and sad
For clarification, Shinobu is 18. Her sister died 4 years before the current timeline, and was 17 when she died. It was never specified when Kanao was adopted, but it was likely around 5 years before. Also Hinokami Kagura translates to Dance of the Fire God. That's why Tanjiro automatically called it 'fire' breathing.

How I saw the difference between flame and fire when I first saw this episode is that flame is that the edge of the fire, you know the thing that glows. While fire is the part at the center of the fire and the whole.

I have tricks to read Japanese words or names maybe it helps you guys to read names properly in the future. Japanese words are mixed letters together so it's always short a sound, for example, Mikasa it's pronounced directly Mi-ka-sa but it came from mi/ka/sa 3 letters together and only has some rules exceptions that words can be long a sound such as has n in the suffix, consonant blend, stress the syllable, etc. N suffix examples are Eren, Tanjiro, and Zenitsu these 3 names have n suffix in syllable. Actually, n is another letter that is pronounced "Nn" or maybe "U-n" (It's hard to write it into a sound). So this rule you're speaking correctly. Tan-ji-ro, E-ren. A consonant blend example is Zenitsu. Sometimes Japanese two letters directly adjacent are linking sounds such as Zenitsu it's actually Zen-i-tsu but "n" adjacent to "i" and "i" adjacent to "tsu" it's become linking sounds like this Zen-it-su or Zen-nit-su instead. Stress the syllable examples are Goku, and Tanjiro. Goku actually has long a sound in the letter "ku" because his name actually is Gokū with a straight line on top of "ku" it means long a sound because in Japanese it's actually written like this Go-ku-u, So it's become of long a sound. As well as Tanjirō so it's Tan-ji-ro-u this "ro" become long a sound as well. So if you're trying to say every syllable short a sound it'll become more natural and close to the original name as possible as we can get. : Tan-ji-rō, Ne-zu-ko, Ka-na-o, Shi-no-bu, Zen-it-su/Zen-nit-su, I-no-su-ke, Go-jō, Yū-ji, Me-gu-mi, No-ba-ra, E-ren, Mi-ka-sa p.s.1 I don't say calling their names by name that adapted is wrong. I've watched the 2 seasons and the movie and i just could not wait for the next seasons, so i read the entire manga, and after i was done, i came to the conclusion that this is on par if not better than AoT in terms of my personal best anime of all time. (Krillin is Kuririn).
Come to think of it, I don't think I know what Kanao's official pronounciation is. But I've always pronounced it like *"Kan* -Ow" (as in, 'ow' i'm in pain + more emphasis on 'Kan' then how you guys were saying it at the end), It just sounds correct to me, as someone who has done a little-tiny-bit of of self study on east asian languages.

I know you guys are set on the movie for the next part of the show, but consider at least watching the first episode of the episode format because that part is not included in the movie. It shows more backstory to a character you will love! I think you guys would really enjoy it!
A decent way of getting closer to pronouncing Japanese words and names the right way is to remember that they pronounce their words with 2 to 3 letter syllables and hard consonants. So Mugen would be pronounced Mu Gen ( Moo like a cow, Ge as in "get", n as a nasal N sound) The N sound is like a special single letter extension to the common syllables, written like this ん in Hiragana. It's added after the other two letter syllables to make a three letter syllable. For example the Tan in "Tanjiro" is written "たん" ( the "Ta" syllable, followed by n) in Hiragana, but makes one syllable.
The nuance of the “fire” breathing is lost in the translation. The “fire” breathing that Tanjiro uses is pronounced as “hi no kokyuu”. Without knowing the actual Kanji that spells “hi”, it can mean a lot of different things in the original language, one of them is of course fire, as Tanjiro guessed, but another is “sun” or “day”.
Zenitsu backstory before he got adopted. His life was just like Naruto childhood He was ignored and beaten by people He had only one pair of torn cloth and He did not had money and proper food to eat that's why he was so thin his bone can be shown And top of that he did not even know his parents that his parents abandon him or they were killed You didn't see it properly Kanao and Zenitsu both them have same types of past And both of their eyes have blackish darkness in their eyes And Zenitsu and Tomioka are that type of character who don't want to talk about themselves Tanjiro and Zenitsu are very good at hiding their feelings like Naruto while doing fake smile I am just telling you story that didn't explained properly

Inosuke's sword isn't cut perfectly, when you look from a distance it looks broken, but they make it look good in almost every scene so...

@@aedan704 Mhm, I think it's important to highlight that when spoken normally they probably don't include the emphasis on the 'oh' at the end, it's kinda blended with the 'ah'. hense 'ao', or in my example that might make more sense in english: 'ow'.

Kanao Tsuyuri
A decent way of getting closer to pronouncing Japanese words and names the right way is to remember that they pronounce their words with 2 to 3 letter syllables and hard consonants.
So Mugen would be pronounced Mu Gen ( Moo like a cow, Ge as in "get", n as a nasal N sound)
The N sound is like a special single letter extension to the common syllables, written like this ん in Hiragana. It's added after the other two letter syllables to make a three letter syllable.
For example the Tan in "Tanjiro" is written "たん" ( the "Ta" syllable, followed by n) in Hiragana, but makes one syllable.

The way I remember how to pronounce Kanao is to separate the o from the rest of the letters: "Kana-o"

The nuance of the “fire” breathing is lost in the translation. The “fire” breathing that Tanjiro uses is pronounced as “hi no kokyuu”. Without knowing the actual Kanji that spells “hi”, it can mean a lot of different things in the original language, one of them is of course fire, as Tanjiro guessed, but another is “sun” or “day”.

I'd probably recommend watching the "movie" in the episode format they released. It is basically the same but I felt like the episodes had a little more and added extra
