I was looking at this video as an extra help while following the manual, and I think that makes the most sense when you want to make sure you're doing everything right
How do you get the drawer out? I see there’s a simple locking mechanism on it but it’s hard to reach to unlock. Also what does the locking rack mechanism at the back of the dresser? Thanks
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Your video made the assembly so much over the printed instructions. IKEA should pay you to make these tutorials for their products!
Thank you for this video. I mostly just double-checked that I understood correctly from the printed instructions, but I actually got stuck when mounting the sliding rails on the drawers, as well as the guard/support that goes below their middle, and on inserting those little white screws on the backsides, so it saved me from some headache.
I have a couple of the same units coming next week. I've done this kind of thing many times, so no problem, but what I really like is the strengthening bar underneath each drawer to prevent the bottom of the drawers from sagging. Haven't seen this on other units, but it's a really good idea. I could have bought similar units for a much cheaper price, but I think that you get a certain level of quality with IKEA. There also seems to be one more additional step because of IKEA's insistence (for safety reasons) that the units be attached to the wall in order to prevent them from toppling over.
I was able to misunderstand the instructions and the video! 😂 props for me! But at least after misunderstanding the video, I was able to ruin the entire assembly with self-confidence! 👌 the ikea furniture teaches us humility, but first humiliates us! 😂😂
just got this desk this morning and had to assemble it myself when i got home.I had jumped from 2 other videos before finding this one and how glad i am that i kept searching and came across this gem. super simple guide and very quick. thanks alot for the video mate. :)
When I was putting in the back part of the dresser like at 7:24 it was folding in instead of staying straight on. Regardless of the folds it would bend in a little. Did I do something wrong or is that just how it is bc I see yours and it stayed on completely straight.
How do you get the drawer out? I see there’s a simple locking mechanism on it but it’s hard to reach to unlock. Also what does the locking rack mechanism at the back of the dresser? Thanks
Very helpful video! I just built the same. It seems Ikea got the white tape on the frame rails upside down. You can see the exposed MDF on the tops of the rails when the drawers open and the a nice finish on the underside of the rail. Mine is the same.
Oh, wow, those sliders used to come assembled already? That would have helped so much! Now they just send you eight separate sliders and dozens more screws... :(
Hi, I put together this drawer chest and it's all in place but I don't remember if it had soft close draw in the showroom or normal. I'm confused if I missed something as the drawers are normal closing not soft close
I wouldn't recommend using a drill driver for Ikea assembly. Use a a screwdriver or an electric 4v screwdriver. There's no chance of you overdriving the screw and wrecking the panel. You also missed inserting some dowels when you assembled the frame.
Hi, Thank you for this video very useful. I could assemble it yesterday.. but my whole piece is not stiff or strong.. somewhere it is loose though I tight the whole screws fully.. can anyone help how to fix this
It makes it easier for me. I’m 5’0” with no upper body strength. I have assembled previous units using manual screwdriver. My hands and arms hurt for a couple of days afterwards. Plus I did it by myself so it helps a lot because I had to hold parts steady as well.
No, you need a drill if you want to attach it to the wall (which IKEA tells you to do and if you have children you really really should do) but for the actual assembly you just need hand screwdrivers
Two of the drawers don't slide all the way in. I've looked and looked, I just don't know I did wrong. Two go right in the middle two stop and don't close all the way. Any suggestions of what I should redo?
Just assembled one, checked this as I thought I had the cross pieces upside down (the bits inbetween the drawers) the underside of them is covered white so not sure why the exposed wooden bit goes at the top???
Order my drawer from Home Depot. I’m on putting the back pieces but it keeps sliding of what should I do please help me. Someone. I don’t want to regret buying it because my money😭
I was putting together a 3 drawer one of these while watching this and missed putting an extra board between the middle and bottom drawer. Strange the 3 drawer has it but the 4 drawer doesn't. Super helpful vid thanks.
My guess is no, but the manual suggests you attach it to a wall in case children try climbing on it. Otherwise, you can try to put heavier things on the bottom, to keep it bottom heavy! This will help keep the center of gravity towards the bottom and stop it from tipping over as easily. Hope this helps!
Quick question, when you put the 4 small front panels across the front, the piece between each drawer, is the unfinished side face up? I finished mine and then thought i put those in upside down
You may have the wrong screws on the drawer slides or they're not fully screwed in which will catch on the sides stopping the drawer from sliding properly.
No, the unfinished side should be happy pointing up. You usually won't see that side of each rail because it would be covered by the drawer above it. Besides, if you are strictly following the instructions and positioning them so that the cam lock holes are pointing inside, there's only one way they can go.

Hmm. I congratulate you. I feel like paying someone to do it after seeing this. Looks intimidating, I have never done this.

Thank you for the video. Helped me to set up my Malm drawer today.
Thanks a lot for this video. Helped me build mine easily! 👍
For this size drawer what size glass top would I go for to fit it perfectly
Some closeups would have been good at certain spots. Good overall.

Mine has been built and can’t open the bottom drawer - any advice??
Thank you, the manual didn’t come so this helped a lot
If you would ever have that problem again, go on IKEA'a website and search up you item and you will find the manual!
Tack för hjälpen 👍jag har fixat
Thanks so much for the video it helped me alot
Does anyone know why it specifies that you can't put a television above it if it can be seen that it can handle it?
Thank you finally have been able to build a flat pack for myself
Thank you for the video. I didn't know if I would be able to do it by myself but I think I can now

Help, my drawer doesn't close. What am i doing wrong?
What drill torque do you usually use when assembling ikea furnitures (since they are made out of cheap wood powder) 🤷🏽♂️. Thanks.
I never go more than 5
This has been very helpful thank you 🙏🏾
What would you use for the part where you need to add a hole to the backside of the drawers without a drill?
I just used an electric screwdriver and the wood is soft enough for the screw to go in without any difficulty.
Un grand merci pour votre vidéo ça m'a vraiment aidé
Do u need the power drill to assemble it I don’t have one
Thanks, made my assembly process easier..
Super ❤️❤️❤️
How do you know which drawer goes in which
They're all the same, so it doesn't matter.
I just want to say excellent taste in music for this video
very useful🙏🏻❤️❤️thank you
How to open drawers when there is no handle/knob? Fingernails?
There’s an angled side at the bottom of each drawer. I find it better than knobs because knobs can work themselves loose.
@@anisahkasim3305 you mean at the top of each drawer?
Some parts of my malm dresser are grey even though i purchased the white dresser is that normal!!!??

Thanks a lot

Yes, the smooth, white surface should be up, but even with the drawers in place, you won't notice the difference, so I left it as is.
Tengo una duda, antes de colocar la parte trasera, estaba muy como inestable, es normal?
Si. es.
Great. Thank you so much
Very helpful!! After a friend put them together they have fallen apart - I now know why. Thanks!! 👊🏽
Do you have to use an electric drill?
No, make use of a screw driver.
The new Malm dressers come with locking mechanisms on all of the drawers so they don't open. I cant figure out what the heck is going on!!!
THANK YOUU!!! MADE IT SOO EASYY!!

lovely video. recently moved and the back panel for my chest of drawers got very damaged. will I still be able to use the chest of drawers ?

Quick question, when you put the 4 small front panels across the front, the piece between each drawer, is the unfinished side face up? I finished mine and then thought i put those in upside down
How is the quality of the MALM series? At 7:00 it looks a little wobbly.
How is the quality of the drawers? Does it run smooth?
Im stuck on page 7. Can someone help?
You need to properly screw the front screw on the bottom of your drawer to ensure the bottoms are secure.
Thank you but I maybe have an older set... my drawers have metal/iron underneath... funny thing i just bought it...
you are my god
Thanks for your help 👍
Always welcome
Completed assembly and top drawer only opens a couple inches and cannot pull entire drawer out
You may have the wrong screws on the drawer slides or they're not fully screwed in which will catch on the sides stopping the drawer from sliding properly.
Great video…Price of item has gone up significantly.
Seems like the cross bars under the drawers in the front would have the smooth side up instead of the smooth side down.
