    Here is what most youtubers do not say about print on demand. You do need some money to get started because when a customer places an order etsy does not pay you until you confirm shipment so you have to pay for the printing upfront from your account. It is not as simple as posting designs and getting paid.There is an out of pocket cost,so if it goes great for you your first week and you get 20 orders for POD and you do not have the funds to pay your provider. You lose those orders because prinful and pritify do not get paid by etsy,they get paid from the card or account you have on file and no fulfilment until they get paid. Plan accordingly,I sold my first art print and actually lost money because although the customer paid over $130,after paying prinful and etsy taking their cut I was -$5

      @RailinX ปีที่แล้ว +25

      The absolute majority of people who open a POD Shop do not instantly get multiple sales. 99% have the opposite problem, are struggling to get sales.
      Also love how you blame TH-camrs for starting a business you seemed to know nothing about if needing to pay the supplier for doing all the work for you came as a surprise. If you watch at least one in depth tutorial about opening a POD shop they all explain the process and that you need to pay the supplier if you want them to do the work.

    • @Mindofacreator

      @@RailinX My point if you bothered to understand is that most people would take the positive tone of these type of videos and jump head first into something they do not understand.

      It’s obvious man

    • @MB1z
      @MB1z ปีที่แล้ว +65

      It is not obvious. They always say start with no money , start with no money just to get you to watch their video. Non of them have it that you pay the provider first then you have to wait to get the money from Etsy. And while you wait there could be returns and cancelations. You have to have a lot of extra money on hand even if you get small orders because nothing goes through until you pay the provider. What is the purpose of Printify and the others being connected to etsy if the financial is not connected. Some TH-camrs tell about this issue dee in their video. Just stop putting thumbnails that say with no money.

    Hi Alek! I have a few questions about starting a business selling stuff on Etsy. 1. What about taxes? Do you pay quarterly or are taxes taken out automatically? 2. Do you have to have a business license? 3. How do you get paid? Paypal? 4. Do you have to deal with copyright. For instance, Disney. Thanks!

    Hi, I am a graphic designer and in my opinion, it is not easy to create a logo that people will buy if you are not skilled in graphic design. I have found that the most simple looking designs can be the most difficult to create.

  • @thegamedoctor200
    @thegamedoctor200 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Just for information specifically regarding North Prints, the majority of what they're selling exist within the public domain. You can reverse image search a lot of the paintings that they sell and figure out where they exist, who painted them and how to acquire them for resale. They are not original works of art, but purely available for resale in the public domain. Not to say AI art is not useful in this sense, but North Prints probably hasn't started doing it yet.

    • @alekSheffy
      @alekSheffy  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That's completely possible too. They're slightly different - and you could use public domain images as the base file and use AI to modify them into something else.
      Good insight though thanks for sharing

    Hi Alek, really appreciate your etsy tutorial videos, you have been my go to channel to learn etsy selling. In your first video for starting your etsy shop you had mentioned you had an issue because Etsy suspended your account almost immediately and you had to wait to figure out why. I am currently in that same position with a suspended account immediately before I even posted a single product without ANY information from etsy, I still have not heard back from them and daily I have been trying to find information on why my account has been suspended. I recommend making a video about "what to do if your account has been suspended when starting" and go over why they did it in the first place because I am in this situation and would have really appreciated finding a video describing this problem. In the mean time i have just been working on designs but to have a video that I can relate to in this situation would definitely put my mind at ease because as of right now I feel as though I did something wrong. Anyway, cheers and good luck

    When you sell the Logo, or Business templates does the customer have to have a Canva account to personalize them?

    • @DoBeLove
      @DoBeLove ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, you send a link that takes them directly to canva and they modify as a "guest" I believe. I have actually purchased templates to ajust and that is how it's worked when I bought, link took me directly to canva or whatever platform and I was able to work within the seller's parameters.

    Which platrorm works best for this method of producing images,? Certainly. Etsy would be to expensive since we have to pay for each posting.
    It seems that this could backfire when you have so many people producing so many easy to create postings that flood the market place to the point that it becomes self defeating.
