I just researched the heck out of LiFePO4 batteries for my 18’ sailboat power system. I do 2-5 day trips and need power for led nav lights, phone charging and keeping handheld VHF charged. I ordered the Amped 20ah and Renogy 50w solar kit. I have 2x 12v 4.5ah and a 9.0v 3.0ah Bioennos for ham radio from mountain tops probably over 200x and they have worked flawlessly. I went with Amoed due to lower cost verse a Bioenno 20ah.
I've got the Amped Outdoors 30Ah battery that's the same size case as the one you tested. I've had it for two years and LOVE it. I really appreciate the information you share on all your videos. Thanks for doing that for us.
Thanks Sam! I assume you are talking about the 30Ah Wide? Looks really similar but the 30Ah wide is just about a little taller. I have one that I will be tearing down soon.
Bussssit open!! Yaasssss.. Really been a fan of Amped as well. I think Dakota Lithium and some of the other company needs to figure out their prices and innovation pretty soon. Cheap batteries bringing down that price gotta love it 👍🏻
Great review! It's the first Amped Outdoors teardown I've seen on TH-cam. Thank you for the info! One question please? 1) Does Amped Outdoors use only grade A cells?
Thanks so much for the real reviews…Hey will one amped 20ah run both graph and Livescope? I have the 10 inch screen and Livescope plus..approximately how long would that run? Thanks again👊
I wish this was out a few weeks ago. Probably would lhave gone with this instead of the 2-12's I put in my battery box build. But think they will be a good set up too just cost an extra $40 for 4 hours that I may never use.
The calk on the bottom of the terminals are a last measure for short circuit In case the battery pack inside the case moves and punctures the shrink wrap. This will in hopes of preventing the battery to short itself out internaly
My guess for the caulk on the solder is to control those solder whiskers that form after say 5 years, these things can wreak havoc on electronics of they break loose and short something on a PCB so keeping them confined to the little ball of caulk probably just protects the BMS down the road. IIRC this isnt even related to corrosion and more like the processes involved with mercury eating through aliuminum/aluminium
hey boss quick question will an amped outdoors 15ah lithium power a garmin gpsmap 1222 for a 12 hour day the 1222 will be the only thing connected to the 15ah, thanks for any info!
I think the taped down wires reduces vibration so probably not an issue.... However, as a side note. I haven't noticed you talking much about low temp cut off sensor location on the cells. I think you might want a sensor on the outside batteries AND touching a cell in the middle of the pack because if you have been on the ice all day the pack will be completely frozen and the innermost cells will be the last to thaw in the battery case. So an inner sensor may keep the pack from charging too soon. They might simply be able to adjust the acceptable internal temp on the BMS to compensate but I'm not sure how well that would work with really cold batteries. Just thinking out loud ;-)
If you could show a close up picture of one cell and any information like size (18650) amp (3500 mAh) manufacture (samsung) This would be important to me as the pack can only be as good as its cells. Thank you for you educational videos
Would adding a bead of silicon to the outside of the cover make it more water resistant? Any reason not to do that? I have the 18Ah and get in some wet conditions sometimes.
Seems like a very high price for the capacity you're getting. I know it's about form factor, particularly for kayak users, but for any larger type of boat you'd be way further ahead to get one of the 100AH batteries that are selling in the ~$275 - $350 range. You get 5 times as much battery for around 3 times the price, and not a whole lot more weight to worry about.
You're not wrong, but a lot of guys are running these smaller batteries independent of their trolling motors and stuffing them in the rod lockers. This size will also be ideal for ice fisherman. This battery was 4.5 lbs or so, that last 100Ah that I tore down was 24lbs
@@iceholepower8012 - I am right there with you. I'm using a repurposed, 12v, LiFePO4 battery from a medical device that cost me $45. I use it exclusively for my electronics and it still has around 18.5AH out of the original 21AH, which you noted is plenty for days of fishing. It also weighs around 5lbs, which makes it very easy to remove for charging. All I did was connect an XT30 to the leads on it, so my on-board smart charger can plug into it after my trolling motor batteries are charged up.
I had one fail and then the replacement failed. Using their charger, will charge to 13.6v idle and then drops to 13.0v after less than 0.300Ah draw @ max of 2.66A. Down to 30% after less than 15 minutes of usage. My two were just an AliBaba KMD-4S20 with their name slapped on the side. Didn't even try to hide the original battery model number! Ali is notorious for selling used and 2nds. Steer clear of these IMHO.
Why can't you use then in series? 4 of these at 12v each will give me 48V and the same 20AH which let's say my scooter or ebike is a 48v 12AH it will work... But if you parallel them, then yes, that's not going to work, since it will only be 12V 80AH, if the scooter/ebike is 48v obviously 12V won't cut it.
I enjoy tearing down batteries and making TH-cam videos. I have no interest in owning a battery company. However, I may have a future video on how to build your own ;)

I really appreciate your integrity man. I’m learning a lot from the channel.
Thanks man!!
Appreciate your time and effort. Purchasing online with confidence after your review 💪😎👍
I'm getting ready to get a pelican bass raider 10e and I want to go with the lithium batteries and I appreciate all the knowledge I can get. Thanks

@@iceholepower8012 Excellent, I'm interested in the Amped 30AH, will be watching for the review
The thing that comes to mind on the caulk on the inside of the battery terminals is keeping moisture from getting in through there
Thanks for the reviews. The silicone on the inner leads might give some insulation in my mid instead of having open leads. JMO.
I see you finally replaced your short circuit test lead, and with much heavier wire too. As always an informative video, thanks!
I built it for the Power Queen 100Ah video

Good video a lot of good information I appreciate it I just bought a 30 amp hour battery just like that amped up for Life scope thanks
Great review! It's the first Amped Outdoors teardown I've seen on TH-cam. Thank you for the info! One question please?
1) Does Amped Outdoors use only grade A cells?
Thank you again for another great battery 🔋 breakdown. Seems like a pretty good built battery 🔋 for $130.
Thanks so much for the real reviews…Hey will one amped 20ah run both graph and Livescope? I have the 10 inch screen and Livescope plus..approximately how long would that run? Thanks again👊
Thanks again for another good honest review. Keep up the great videos
Thanks buddy!

Hi, is this battery good for a electric fishing reel? Or what you recommend?
You provide very good information on all videos thank you 👍👍👍
You should tear down the new Dakota Lithium 23 ap battery with the 2 USB ports. It would be interesting to see if they improved since this video
The calk on the bottom of the terminals are a last measure for short circuit In case the battery pack inside the case moves and punctures the shrink wrap. This will in hopes of preventing the battery to short itself out internaly
Great video how is the 160ah battery
Because they're heating up the case where the terminals go through it melts the case a little bit potentially could leak
Good day. Have ya had a chance to review the new 15a/h battery ?
Which is better, the LifePO4 or the NMC batteries?
did you work on XZOY 12.8v 18ah already if so what do you think? should l bout it

Does the amped 30Ah wide have similar series protection as this new 20Ah
What brand cells are in these? I'd imagine that's the most important part? Thanks!
haha it looks like you upgraded your short circuit testing equipment lol
I built it for the Power Queen 100Ah video

Do you know were I can get connectors for my ampoutdoor battery adding a fuse block what size wire
What battery would you recommend for a helix 9 for icefishing?
More of a question how good is the charger you can get with it

What's the difference in a Life po4 and an NMC ? Thx
When I click the link it’s only amped batteries. But do you still recommend the rebel and others?
Any idea how long this will power a helix unit? I have a helix 10
What about the LiTime and Amped companies as one company?
Are you still doing reviews
Why did you discharge this battery at 2amp instead of .2c ?
Please do Amped Outdoors 48 amp battery.
Would adding a bead of silicon to the outside of the cover make it more water resistant? Any reason not to do that? I have the 18Ah and get in some wet conditions sometimes.
I don't see any reason why that would be an issue.
When you crossed ends how long did the BMS cut off power for? Or does it need a new Fuze
During the short circuit test? It comes back almost as soon as the short is removed. There is not a fuse in the battery.

Newbie question: What does low temp charging protection do?
Low temp charge will destroy the cells

❓ When is your company going to come out with a battery pack built to your specifications?
Hope the average guy can afford to buy it.

I bought 2 of theses batteries because of his review ----I did not get 305 WH--- he is lying about the capacity of this battery!
😂
Is the cover of the battery able to be reinstalled after taking it off? Looks like that is the case but wanted to double check
