This was a great adventure! What a fantastic find! Of course it's impossible to believe whatever you read about a place like this, because it is obviously, very, very old, but you guys, went and filmed it for us. Great job!!
These are called Bole Hills. Many places have names in towns and cities. A bole hill is an area of furnaces on hills with openings directed to the wind. Usually, for lead mining. This one is regrowth with young trees. In Sheffield the bolehills area was the first and still used B.M.X track in England.
Just a thought, are they not flues going to chimneys ? Wasnt a lead mining area? We've got loads of similar looking tunnels here in Northumberland, been through a few of them 🤔
Is it a medieval store for smoked or smoking foods? place to hang game from hunting? Could be an old ice store! There's no sign of burning like in a pottery Kiln? I think it's post medieval smoke house for smoking game before it's brought to a residential area tobe hung.
I wonder what purpose they served. A lack of carvings or care towards aesthetics suggests it was for utility. Do you know anything about the history of the land?
Great find 👏 👍
Looks like tunnels used to conceal troop movements or others from medieval days. Saw similar structures below Dalhousie Castle in Scotland.
AMAZING thank you both.
✨🏴✨😳✨😱✨.

Wow this is awesome! Another cool find & explore! 👍👍❤️✊🤘
What area in the UK was this, as the rough geographical location might give a clue to its former use.
Definitely Dwarf Tunnels, in my opinion
Lime furnace?

Look at some of the back walls/ tunnel endings and try and determine if they are original or blocked off.
..mmm..wonder who built it.. and why..?..🤔
It looks like s defensive structure. The lower narrow tunnels make it hard to swing a sword??
Unreal workman ship, you can tell a lot is missing from there
You're 6ft something! How you got in there must have been tight! :)
What do we store in the ground? Burials?
What if those tunnels directed water?

Don't let anyone know where you are as the idiot graffiti lot will be there. Very interesting find.
