    I’ve had my Impulse for over one year. For the first time, I can hear music and other audio perfectly. It is a joy to use. I’ve had many other helmets with frustrating results. It’s well made and comfortable. The mesh works well. A big step forward. I’ve had no malfunctions. Sena put a lot of effort in this helmet..

    The Velcro flap is there to keep the loose ends of the laces secured underneath to avoid them getting caught on parts of the bike for safety. Regardless I also don’t like laces on any of my riding boots either. I gladly pay extra for my riding boots that have the ratcheting BOA system instead.

    I like Red Wing boots and wear them every day. They're outstanding riding boots and very sure footed. With the oil proof soles, comfort and support, I feel like they're the right foot gear for me. I too have the same HJC helmet you used to wear. When its 5-year life expectancy is up, we'll shop for new helmets, but probably won't go Sena since we're still old school plug-in on the electronics. There was another brand we tried at Sienna Electronics at Wing Ding 2019 in Nashville that we really liked but it was maybe double the price of the HJC's. The fit was outstanding right out of the box, already had the quick release chin clips, and very comfortable. I just couldn't do it at the time buying two. HJC was a close second, and took a little longer to break in. We'll revisit those first-choice helmets in a couple years. Thanks for the reviews, I wondered about the sneaker boots. Several of our riding friends have jumped to the CanAm Spyders which are all wireless. I'll mention the Sena helmet to them for consideration. Seems like it might be a good option for them.

    Another excellent review mate. Love your videos. Yes you are correct.
    1. With gloves on, I too find very hard to operate those buttons. However bend your head to see yourself on the mirror, you will know where you are touching. Doesn't have to do this, but a simple no cost solution. Otherwise it's good and tactile when pressed without gloves.
    2. Charging magnetic connector is not as weak as you mentioned on mine. Once stuck on it stays there, hopefully you don't hang your helmet with that cable (lol). USB C is a no brainer obviously, however this is still ok. On another note, luckily here in Australia I was supplied with the charging cable that has the magnetic connector moulded to it, you won't be able to disconnect the magnetic tip adapter unlike yours. Having said that Sena should be offering a replacement tip just in case if that magnetic tip gets lost.
    3. Whilst sound quality is top notch that I can hear every detail in any song, bass is slightly lacking to my taste compared to my Cardo unit with JBL 45mm speakers. Whilst JBL's sound quality is in par with Sena Impulse (Harman Kardon speakers), bass reproduction and the way it blends with the music has an edge over sena's.
    These are my thoughts.
    Once again thank you so much for all your high quality videos. Keep posting.
    Cheers
    Sri from Australia.

    Sena now gives you a usb cable, the cable has a led on the usb end to let you know it is charging. Works great. They also give you the adaptor.

    The glass slot is for those of us who wear glasses full time, but also for those that choose to wear sunglasses. My 5 year old Shoei helmet has this also.

    I initially looked at the Kronox and other similarly styled "motorcycle sneakers." But since I split time between a GW and an Africa Twin, the laces, as well as proper ankle protection, were a concern on the AT. Ultimately I opted for the Klim Outlander GTX. This boot is sufficient for mild off-road on the AT, and also good for hours of highway on the Wing. The BOA wire lacing system was new to me, but I've come to appreciate it and would not go back to strings or zippers.

    It seams like I’m always putting my helmet into Mesh mode while trying to turn the volume down while wearing winter gloves. My helmet shipped with a complete magnetic charge cable. And also the charge adapter. I do not use the adapter as it is a pain as you have stated. Also mine came with an inflatable donut.

    Is there a sun visor in the Sena helmet?
    Mine is the Shoei NeoTech ll. Outstanding helmet.
    My summer ankle boots are Alpinestars. Weird model name... ASD-DSL Akio. Cool in summer. Very supple. Good toe, side and heel protection. Very grippy soles in wet or gravel conditions. They are lace-ups.

      I'm guessing you haven't tried to push the buttons on a Cardo unit yet, they are really small although the volume wheel is nice.

    The best boots I've used on the bike are Thorogood Fire Devils. They don't have a zipper, unfortunately, but they have a real deep tread and fantastic grip. I can back up my Ultra Limited on wet gravel with no problem. They're also American and union made. I've put them through hell, and they're still in good condition.

    • @jacobcraik8222
      @jacobcraik8222 ปีที่แล้ว

      As for your charging issue, one solution you could go with is to get some wall helmet mounts (the ones with the big ball that goes inside your helmet, YT won't let me post a link), and zipties the cable to the arm of the mount, that way it can charge while it's hanging up

    Cruise, you're crazy! Just kidding but what is really funny is it seems Sena has watched this video months ago because my Impulse came with a inflatable cloth covered doughnut to set the helmet on upside down while charging with a dedicated 4 ft cord that has the magnetic end on it. I also love how secure the chin guard locks into place!

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting. I wonder why they don't sell that cable on their website, and the donut!

      @FranklinBurns42 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I bought my impulse in January of 2022 when it was newly released. Even back then it came with a donut and dedicated cable with the status light built in and that little magnetic adapter as well. So they’ve been doing that all along.

    Like my sena so far(thanks sena)
    1..Charging port on the sena is perfect for me as is .no need to worry about junk getting in the charging port.if they did switcg to usbc i would add the AICase Magnetic Charging Cable i place my helmet on a shelf and its good for me.
    2. I prefer double d rings but the click strap is ok
    3.i wish it would come with inner sunshade that could also be interchangeable. But if it did it would add the extra hight like the hjc has
    4. Speakers sound better because they ate closer to the ears i side vs the hjc if you didnt add the speaker wedges.

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine has the inner sun shade and it is replaceable.

      Btw the shoes i was interested in , i did like the side zipper (great)
      Front strap (ok) ,laces (ok )
      I did not like traction part you spoke about i would probably take it to a cobler and see if they could add something to the bottom if i did like them that much. but for that ill just stick with my current boots the bates

      @@cruisemansgarageby nature I couldnt give up and I finally figured it out. Thanks anyway but I do think a quick video might save some people a little aggravation. Bottom line was I failed to trust the instructions as written. Im more a visual learner. The app mixes in the dongle set up and it got me a little confused. Also, plugging in the charging cord will put the helmet into “WIFI mode”. From there you can reset the wifi and start fresh. I feel like even what I am writing now is confusing!! 😂

    I bought a stryker model, the charging time is too long and the application does not show that it is fully charged. sometimes the battery gets even less while charging. Does anyone have this kind of problem? I tried it with two charging cables, both with the powerbank and from the socket.

    I'm sorry I totally have to disagree with you. Sena helmet comes with a helmet donut to put it on upside down to connect the charging cable. it also came with the cable and adapter if you want to use your own cable. I see your video is just a year old, and I got mine 6 months ago, so you should have gotten everything I got also. and if you are afraid of losing the extra adapter, just tie it to your cable. It's just that simple.

    Cruiseman, buy a proper helmet. I have owned this helmet for about a year and bought it because it was cheap. It cost €400 somewhere in Spain. It looks nice, the music plays nice, but that's about it. The helmet is mainly noisy and not very comfortable. Processing is also poor. I use it only in the city and for longer routes I take the SHOEI Neotec 2. It doesn't sound as good, but it's quiet. The wind does not blow into it and the interior upholstery can be changed in 10 ways. Sena Impulse looks good in the catalog, but on the road it fails in those main parameters.

    I think the helmet is awesome, but the technology is trash. Sena has offered to replace my helmet, but ultimately, I have to pay for shipping (they are only 20 minutes away, and won't accept a drop-off). Their firmware update disabled the wifi module, so the firmware is out of date, and heavily crippled now. They are incapable of troubleshooting the issue, and only finally agreed to replace it because I insisted. total trash. I would never buy another Sena again if I could, because all their wifi tech is 20 years old, and won't connect to a modern wifi network without crippling the wifi router.
