- The All-Star game is a few weeks away, voting is open right now, but fans love to vote for their own guys. This is my unbiased look at who should make the 2024 all-star rosters.

@@homerunproductions162 Not over Tucker, but Duran is a very good option as a pinch runner, pinch hitter or as a defensive sub. But I understand that more deserving players get crowded out by at least 1 per team.

Garret Crochet is def having a better season then Erick Fedde.
Crochet is having a good run, after his last start he's pretty much right in line with Fedde's season overall. If you want the hot hand then Crochet for sure
He's the AL leader in fWAR, so yes Crochet should be on the team.
Steven Kwan has to start with over a 1.000 ops
Hasnt played as much as the other guys though, but definitely think as the best hitter in baseball right now he needs a spot

Duran is right in line with Santander Greene and Kwan, you could easily swap him with any of them.

I thought Kwan was borderline to even make it given his games played, surprised he grabbed a starting spot. I thought Naylor got robbed but after I made this video, Vlad really did come on strong to deserve that starting spot

As a rays fan Zack Little should be our one rep Paredes has not helped out the team this year he has good personal stats but he does not really help the team the same way Randy did last year
Westburg and Mountcastle deserve to be at least reserves. Mountcastle is beating Guerro Jr. in votes right now, and Westburg is second place for third base voting, only behind Jose Ramirez.
Mountcastle i agree should be the reserve but had to give a spot to vlad as the blue jay rep. As for Westburg, i still dont think he tops Devers for the 2 spot and of course i had to put parades so the rays had a guy
So happy you showed respect too wong and houck my Sox have needed them also a possible option for the AL bullpen would be Craig Kimbrel
Kimbrel has been good but if your era is above 2 as a reliever theres usually a bunch of guys better

Mountcastle over Naylor though? I don't know about that. Westburg is in the mix but I still would have picked Devers over him even if I didn't need to add Paredes

Now disagree with Yamamoto, Assad, and Sale over Cris Sanchez at the very least and also Skenes. Those top 3 are all great, but Sanchez has been so elite at limiting homers and has better eras than all of them. Would say especially Yamamoto and Assad out for Skenes and Sanchez but that's me personally as a Phillies fan
I was wondering when someone was going to mention Sanchez. That's my one regret on this video, I should have put him in there ahead of Yamamoto.

Josh Smith deserves more love for the year he's having stepping in for Jung. Dude is a bright spot in a dark time for the Rangers. Tough to make the roster though, I get that.
Josh Smith hasnt really been talked about but the guy has been amazing. Definitely should get the call if a there are some injuries

I would think Hunter Greene should get in over Logan Webb. he beats Webb in WAR, K's (stats in which He's in the top 3 and top 10 respectively) and has given up WAY less hits. And also why on earth would you choose Erick Fedde over Garrett Crochet for the white Sox

Logan Webb has a lower ERA and more innings pitcher than Hunter Greene. Strikeouts and hits don’t matter, runs matter
No matter what, I’d make Jose Siri our Rays representative. He’s by far the best player on the Rays.
IMO there should be at least one lefty bullpen guy per league, so I'd replace either Miller or Blanco (if we were to go 4 relievers) with Herrin in the AL. Otherwise, solid list.
Two time gold glover and best lead off/contact/non pure power hitter in the MLB. Steven Kwan, should get the start and bat leadoff.

You gotta feel bad for Reynolds tho he’s playing unreal right now 22 game hit streak and has been hitting bombs consistently lately he should definitely be a starter if jurickson profar wasn’t having such a great year. I do think Colin holderman might make it he’s been having a sub 1 era for the entire year until last game.

I started with Smith as the starter, but with Contreras putting in 9 more games, hitting for a higher average, HR and RBI very close, also he's stolen 5 bases, I think that made up for Smith's OPS advantage so I swapped them

Well I can't put the whole team on there. I had Santander and he wasn't even selected as a reserve. I thought Mountcastle deserved the #2 spot behind Naylor but Vlad came on strong the last couple weeks and squeezed him out. Only 3 Orioles ended up being selected (rosters released today)
My 32 Man National League Roster is very similar to yours. I do not think Elly de la Cruz should be an All Star. Instead put Spencer Steer who has a lot of RBI's in the outfield. I like Bryan Reynolds as being the only Pirate and Tanner Scott being the only Marlin. I wish I could add Kyle Schwarber, Masyn Winn, Aaron Nola, and Sonny Gray but there simply no more spots. I think Walker is definitely having a better year but I think each team needs a 3rd catcher

I thought you were giving unbiased picks? Will Smith has a 3.3 fWAR to Contreras's 2.2, mostly due to Contreras's lack of defense and -1.2 pitch framing. Also Arraez has only stated 39 or 90 games at 2nd base, because he's not a great defender, thus the Padres have mostly started him at DH since acquiring him. Reserve at 2nd should go to Brice Turang or Jonathan India, both who tower over Arraez in WAR 2.4 and 2.3 to Arraez's 0.5 fWAR. Short should be De La Cruz, with Francisco Lindor as a reserve. Both Winker and Reynolds shouldn't see reserve spots, both have had terrible defense this year. Cal Raleigh, Ryan Jeffers, Ben Rortvedt, and Logan 0'Hoppe are the top 4 catchers in WAR in the AL. Carlos Santana should be considered at 1st, as his defense has been at the top of the league. Steven Kwan should probably be a starter in the outfield, and Jarren Duran should be in over Santander. Garrett Crochet leads the AL in WAR, and he's not even on the team?
You rely heavily on WAR which is good for factoring in defense, I rely more on OPS since these positions are mainly decided on who has the best offense. When I made this video Crochet had an ERA about a quarter run worse than Fedde, he got hot as of late and now he's the obvious pick
@@homerunproductions162 Baseball is a 2 way game, not just an offensive game. It's probably more prevalent with catchers more than anybody, as they not only have offensive and defensive duties, they have pitch framing and game calling duties. JT Realmuto hasn't been the best hitting catcher, he's a good hitting catcher who's been the best overall catcher in the majors. Same could be said about other players like Francisco Lindor at short, or Marcus Semien at 2nd. ect.

Kenley is having a good year, you could def make a case. I put Duran as a replacement, his stats were right in line with Riley Greene, you could probably have put him on here over Santander but it's close

Luis Arraez over Brice Turang is criminal. Arraez has .9 war and Turang has 4. Turang is literally 4.5x the war of Arraez. Also where tf is Yeli
Turang has a legit case over Arraez, hard to argue with that aside from batting average. I also put Yelich on the team as a reserve, I held back from making him a starter since he put in a whole month's worth of games less than Tatis/Profar/Teoscar, but I got no problem with him getting that starting nod.
