Coach Donny, about the bubbles you asked, that's the Mizuno Wave & U4icX Technologies for the shoes' mid-soles. As you said, they were there to add bounciness and reduce the forces we receive upon landing. I guess, the placement was designed for slim footed players rather than wide footed. So, it is more of players' preferences I guess. 😊. One of my team mates has a wider foot and when he tried the wave momentum, he said it feels funny upon landing or even sliding to a broad attack/wipe. Nonetheless, I am quite comfortable with the shoes right now because I have a rather slim and long feet. I have been wearing the shoes since the beginning of ProLeague in my country and will probably keep wearing the wave momentum till the end of the season. Afterall, we don't have any sponsors for shoes this year. Probably because of the pandemic. Even the rest of the season are postponed because of political matters 😭

Coach Donny! Have you looked into sponsorships or partnerships? I think you would an ideal candidate, what with your background in sports and art... kind of like how Dr. Mike had a sponsorship with Nike to test their new shoe, the React Infinity Run. He did what you did here, gave his two cents on its design and performance, and uses the shoe as he trains for a marathon.
If he had sponsorships/partnership he wouldnt be able to review other brand tho right ?

Hi Coach Donny. I enjoyed this review. Very informative and helpful. I recently got the Mizuno Wave Tornado shoe and was wondering if you had heard anything about that one. They are still somewhat new (used 3 times so far) and now I am wondering if I should return them and pick up these shoes you reviewed instead, as they sound very good for me (I like a softer shoe feel and have wide feet).
When they first came out I didn't buy right away. I found out that different country's got different exclusive colours. I'm in Canada and for a while our exclusive was the red and grey variant. I didn't buy them or the original blue orange and white. But I found Australia had the black and green that I love from my wave stealth 3's. I had to have a friend ship them to me from Aus though because Mizuno wouldn't ship overseas. I ended up also buying a pair of the red and grey for when my green ones wear out. I really love them!

How is the shock absorption? I went to basketball shoes years ago for volleyball for their cushion. Need a new pair. Thought I'd come back to volleyball specific shoes and see if they've improved. I've got knee problems and need something to reduce impact when landing
@@bradevans8714 they are great, very good for absorption. make sure to stretch enough to avoid knee pain, at least it helped me to get rid of the pain.

Hey coach, you should check out the converse pro bb. It’s my favorite shoes by far. It has great grip on different court and really really fast on your feet. Might not have a lot of cushion but it doesn’t bother me. Extremely light shoes.

It's hard to come by a volleyball shoe that is both accessible and can stand up to basketball shoe performance. I coach a U15 team and parents are always asking what the best shoes to buy for a good price. Ever since the Nike Zoom Rize 2 came out the older model has been heavy discounted and that is what I've been referring them too. Very accessible in open box stores and amazing price to performance. Just a suggestion if you want to try out one of those shoes, they have incredible bounce!

Zone 1 is the best zone to serve for points. This is the hardest set as a setter when ball is recieved from a serve.

Just bought this shoe .5 size bigger than usual because I actually have wide feet and it still feels so tight on the outside of my foot.
This shoe is not made for wide feet. I have no problem finding outdoor tennis court shoes in wide - NIKE makes some nice ones in actual wide format, but I cannot for the life of me find wide volleyball shoes that aren't ugly af.

Both Mizuno and Asics come with better tech. Test each one of them and compare. Well done. I used to train in a similar court. Awful. Had to avoid the wall.

Hey coach! You should definitely give the ASICS sky elite models a try. I switched over from Jordan's to those and I feel way quicker in my approach and defense.
Seconded, I love my Sky Elite FF, it's an upgrade to the already great Volley Elite FF. Their soles are much stickier on the floor I train on.
My feet are a little wide and the toe box area does open up. However, I probably won't recommend it if your feet are extremely wide. The ankle /calf area does not have much give.
@@ElevateYourselfOfficial I have extremely wide feet, Asics are one of the few shoes I can wear without pain. The new ones like the Sky Elite seem a bit tighter, but they also offer more support. I can wear them for 3 hours of training without problems.
In comparison, any Nike shoe, even if I went 1 size up, gave me terrible cramps.

@@bryceramos1192 currently I play Middle Blocker, but I'm also the other setter in the 6-2 so I set and hit Oppo. Only complaint with them is if you jump up pretty high and land it CAN get a little rough on your feet comfort wise
