    I have these wheel set and I love them. I didn't have problems mounting Maxxis Dissector and Recon on them.

    I just got a set of these wheels in 29. They are fantastic! Did you use an air compressor when mounting your tires? I mounted maxxis double down tires no problem. Wheels aren't the lightest but they offer significant improvements in handling through rough trails. The added rear end grip while climbing is also very noticeable.

    6:02 ZM2 hub sound

    Dangit. I was all excited about this when he offered a discount code. Competative Cyclist only has the rear wheel in stock, and they don't make mention of the fact it's a previous generation model. Look closely, and you'll find its the ZM1 hub, instead of the newer ZM2, which has been redesigned and more points of engagement.

    Don't waste your money on these wheels. I fell for the hype. I liked them... until the rims cracked after 4 weeks (Easy, early season trail riding , and not an ebike) . Heavier than the alloy rims I thought I was replacing. Keep a backup wheelset! As I write this, I'm still waiting on Zipp to "assess" the wheel - 6 weeks so far.

      @TheLoamWolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that, but we appreciate you sharing the feedback and informing others. Whether or not the wheel is a warranty or not, 6-weeks seems like a really long time to wait...we hope they find out there was some sort of manufacturing defect that caused such premature failure and take care of you!

    • @rickthiel
      @rickthiel ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kovyrshinv It took 9 weeks to finally get a replacement wheel. According to bike shop, the spokes were over tensioned. Of coarse, the season is coming to a close in CO - won’t know if they can make it more than 4 weeks until next season. Wasn’t aware Lifetime Warranty meant the time to g et a replacement for a defective wheel.😕

      2nd season started with a bad freehub . This time the turnover time was much smoother. So...Yes I still have them - along with replacement wheels ;)

    Always though about carbon wheels, but always end up with dt swiss aluminum. I would rather stick money into suspension and brakes. I'm more of the guy that gets expert, not s works, maybe when I win lotto.

    The weak point is the freehub. It died on first year, while I am a really light and slow rider. Rebuilt it, it starts to die after the second year.
    Will change the freehub

    What about these wheels for a big (and heavy) rider (95kg) on an full power ebike like a 2022 Specialized Turbo Levo? Are they stiff enough? or maybe too compliant? The type of riding would be enduro, nothing too extreme...

  • @stevecabrera6718
    @stevecabrera6718 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I dont get why something is e bike rated. People swear that another 30 lbs is major. The average 5 riders will vary in weight like 50 lbs!

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Steve, you bring up a great point, and while some components really don't change when it comes to having an E rating or not, others actually do. Some prime examples are forks and hubs/freehubs and spokes/wheels. Sure a 200lb rider on an analog bike will put more strain on a bike than a 160lb rider, BUT, will that 200lb rider be riding 4 days a week and averaging 15-20 miles per ride? Probably not.
      From our conversations with brands it's less about strength or stiffness and more about longevity! Having forks that don't develop play, hubs that handle torque and spin for twice or triple the amount of miles is not a bad thing to us. Does an "E" handlebar or dropper post make a difference? Probably not. haha, but we'd definitely pick E rated products where it counts.

      Good carbon stuff is expensive. Whats not fair is some brands selling true composite crap at 1k and hey is carbon too but cheaper!
      Some people paid 1k for an iPhone for wassap and selfies… Its not necessary at all but good carbon wheels are noticeable, but not 2k noticeable depends on your wallet and how much you “love” to ride or how fast.
