Such a good teacher. Even knowing all these, it’s a pleasure watching you explain it all so well.
you are the best PS teacher, man!
Been using photoshop for 16 years and I didn't realize you can paste the layer that way... Haha.
you can do it in illustrator too
I felt like Harry Potter when I first realised how to paste in place
@@rikkyun04 you can also past in place in InDesign, but the command is different (4 keys: shift+alt+ctrl+V).
I'm proud to say I still make all of these mistakes on any given day....usually on Thursdays. Something I am still not good about is labeling layers. I think I'll remember but 40 layers later, or a month later, I don't. The great thing is that when they're labeled, you can right click with the Move Tool anywhere in the image and Photoshop shows you a list of every layer that is immediately underneath your pointer. Then when I see the layer I'm looking for, "Sailboat" for example, I can click on the name of the layer in the list, in this case "Sailboat" and Photoshop takes me right to the sailboat layer in the Layer Panel. If I haven't named the layers I'll see "Layer 16, Layer 16 Copy 1, Layer 16 Copy 2, Layer 19, etc" which is of no help at all. Also, I'm going to try using Pro Photo instead of Adobe RGB. I know it wasn't one of the tips in this video but you reminded me that it's there. Thanks for an important video again!
One important fact to remember when using control + shift + v paste is that both the documents need to be of the exact same dimension. Or else the file you copied will end up in the centre of the document. This also works in illustrator between multiple artboards in the same document.
Great tips.
Even more secure is to not just "Save" manually, but to "Save as..." periodically using a slightly different filename, usually by adding a version number. That way if the failure (e.g. Ps crash, power outage, ...) occurs during the save you are not at risk of losing the file altogether. You may loose this version, but the previous version is still on the disk untouched.

Umesh is undoubtedly the best, most articulate and easily understood PS presenter on TH-cam. Thanks for all your superb videos.
These tips are AMAZING! Like always, every video you make is packed with gold!
Lovely stuff. Knowing smart objects in where it fits in the workflow was very useful.
Unmesh, your videos are super useful. I'm learning Photoshop by watching your tutorial.
Excellent Tutorial.
Covered a few things I miss.
Thanks
Really helpful, as usual. I’ve been burned by that first one multiple times. Never knew that’s how it worked. Thanks!
This here is a wealth of knowledge. Just straight to the point.
Respect.
I really enjoy your channel. I've been using Photoshop since 3.0 and it's amazing how much there is to learn. I find your friendly and enthusiastic presentation really great. I come back for every new video.
Thanks again for all your great videos. They make me happy every time. Wish everybody has the positive vibe like you.
This is priceless info, the most valuable I think would be the smart layers conversion to maintain resolution, it's easy to forget that one 👌
Awesome rundown!! Fav go to channel. Hey Umesh, we need you to do a similar 13th mistakes video on the remove tool and Photoshops Generative fill. Maybe we can ask subscribers to send examples 🤔
"Using the eraser for God knows what reason." I laughed out loud!
Thanks Unmesh, this is perfect for new people like me. Also working through you entire PS for beginners course.
I'm using PS a lot recently for my home project icons and I often struggle with it. These were great tips, I was happy to know some already - but also to learn a few new ones. Thanks!
We can learn photoshop and your teaching skills as well. Really Sir Unmesh what you gave to us, that's brilliant. Money can't buy those things. Perfect teacher of all time .Thanks
Thank you for these tips, I learned a lot and realized how I can make my items even better!
AI learn from this guy
Those are very nice tips for beginners :) I've become a pro watching you over the years
Definitely good advise to periodically click " Save " while working. Many times I've had PS crash after spending hours doing a conposite only to have to start it from scratch all over again 🥺
this man helps me a lot in my editing journey in photoshop, thanks a lot❤
I learned some things, and was reminded of some others. Thanks AGAIN for a super informative video!
Helpful video.
Wish more will come on this particular series
This video is chop full of goodies. Thank you for all the helpful tips. You're making me look good at work. As always, the quality is top notch. You're channel is fantastic.
Request.... Would you mind doing a video about cropping images or graphics in PS? I am on struggle street trying to find something to help me with this.
I’ve been using photoshop for nearly 15 years (off and on) and I leaned a couple things. Thanks!!
Biggest mistake I made for a long time was using the Brightness and Contrast adjustment as opposed to the levels dialog. It’s amazing how much better your work looks once you understand the levels dialog!
Thank you for your time and guidance.❤
Bro thanks very much for all that videos. Learn a lot from You ! Well done. Great knowledge! 👏👏
Great Tutorial as usual! Thanks for Sharings these info / Tips.
i learned so much! thank you for this!!! gonna save this
Thanks for some great tips!
I feel happy to follow you from so long..I don't do any of thise mistakes..Thank you sir❤️
Thankyou so much this is very helpful 😍❤️🙏
This is super helpful! Thank you!
I looooove your videos! It's the best content! I've learned A LOT! Thank you❤
This is great, i now kno why smart objects are used , thank you
Thanks for the great content! I've really learned a lot 😊
I am watching your videos from 2020 learnt a lot ❤ these all things I know thanks sir❤
Great stuff! You can re-apply adjusts to layers via the menu IF you apply them to a Smart Object, they appear as Smart Filters.
Eraser tool -- you had me howling! 🤣
A persistent bug with the new gradient tool when using it on multiple canvases - it saves out solid. I have to switch to classic gradient instead which isn’t as dynamic to work with. Love your vids
Thanks Unmesh! Found some mistakes I always do & learned how to not do it.
Having been using Photoshop for more than a decade now. However, felt the same way as you are that it is quite possible I do commit some mistakes done by beginners.
love you. You made me learn to love Photoshop
Thanks man!! you are doing a great job
Sir you are really amazing teacher❤❤❤
I saw your videos and I got confident to learn things about photoshop. As a result, I bought a adobe license 2 days before 😍
almost your tip is i'm using already in my work and for how many years in using photoshop. some is new to me
About mistake 8. "Not Converting To Smart Objects" their is an issue with Hi Res images. I have a 50MP camera and the issue with photoshop is the .psd file size limit. After I edit everything I have to change almost all smart objects to rasterized layers because if I do not, the file size will exceed 2GB after 2 Smart Objects, even if I create a Smart Object within another (as you showed in an old video to reduce the amount of smart objects (the amount is reduced, but the file size does not change) then PS wants to save as .psb (Large Document Format). It's about time that Adobe adds compresion to .psd so that high megapixel cameras can save in psd with multiple smart objects. This is mainly true as data always goes up in size. Most likely by 2030 no camera file would be able to be saved as psd because of the file sizes. It's time Adobe started to work on this issue or psd file format will become obsolete in a few years.
Really appreciate the copy and paste tutorial
I forget shortcuts I once used and cannot find my post it. Thank you for this!
A huge mistake that I have made several time is when saving a file as pdf and not being able to go back to psd again even when I have never closed photoshop in between. P.S.: Huge fan. Learning and recommending photoshop from you and to my friends since at least 7-8 years.
Thanks for these useful tips. Regarding the Photoshop and not Beta point for daily work, it has bothered me for a long time that when an image is transferred from Lightroom to Photoshop, Beta always starts. I haven't yet found a way to change this. That's why I first save in Lightroom as a 16-bit TIF and then open it in Photoshop.
Nice tip-vid! Thanks!
The annoying thing with Photoshop Beta is my PC and Macbook make it the default PS Version and even changing the file settings isn't helping. So I tried it couple of times in the weekend and deinstalled it by Monday morning.
Superb, as always!
Oh my goodness, Unmesh! I had no idea about the first one! 🤯 I couldn't figure out for the life of me what was going on a few months ago with my background not saving correctly. I thought PS was broken and had to scrap my entire design bc it wasn't working for my client.
I hope Its was a wel helful turorial for me n as a beginner too much. Thank you man
Amazing as always, Unmesh.
Always great stuff.
Unmesh, your videos are super useful. Always something to learn. How great or actually self-evident it would be if every layer instead of the relatively meaningless automatic labels, for example after a Command+Option+Shift +E - would contain a term ideally predetermined by me but at least something like 'COSE'.
Or even after I have applied a filter to a layer, the name of the filter would be indexed
For example, after a Liquify, Blur filter, Retoch4me in the label, if I haven't already written something in there myself, there would be a 'liq', a 'blu' or 'R4b' / 'R4d&b' in the label.
Possibly numbered if a more complex image filter was used in several layers. (lq1, liq2, liq3)
What would also seem helpful to me: If the labeling was kept generally simple you wouldn't have to poke around in the field to make it writable.
One option could be that I can set PS to prompt me with a small window.
Thank you so much ❤
amazing Tips.
thanks dear
thx so much again! ctrl+shift+V duuuhhh! lol where that has been my whole life lol
and a smart object is smart because it has a lot of data - now i'll remember to use that also ...and the sample all layers! really? how did i miss out on these things doing PS this long?
you're my champion!
...I've been watching you for years, I just noticed that I wasn't subscribed to your channel....Just subscribed! Love your videos!
Thank you!!
Great, Thank you so much
This video helped me! 👍
Whoever came up with the idea for the Clipping Mask deserves a billion Nobel Prizes. Making something in Photoshop without clipping masks is like playing basketball on the edge of the Grand Canyon, wearing shoes made of butter.
Useful, thankyou
Thank you so much
Thank you ❤
Great as always 🌟🌟🌟
so helpful bro thanks =)
I have followed this guy for 2-3 years and didn't expect he was an Indian, but when I saw his oldest video, I was shocked. He is an Indian OMG. And I was from Nepal. Lots of love from Nepal.
lovely.. perfect
Great video as you are the greatest man of all time.
The only mistake I was doing until now was, not using CTRL+SHIFT+V. THANK YOU! 😍😍
you nailed it!
Thank you vaiya 🥰
Thanks bro..
Thanks!
Congratulations for 5M❤
thanks man
Awesome sir ❤
I'm not going to lie, at first I thought I might be doing something wrong but it turns out I'm not, hahaha. I can tell that I've watched your tutorials for 6 years now and have learned a lot and I'm grateful for it.
The last 5 beta versions have crashed when I open an image via bridge.
Hence I won't let regular PS update since it would be the version # that was included in crashing betas.
At least I can keep working, maybe w/o a few new features.
Thanks Unmesh. For Tip #1 - I select all layers and then right click and choose “flatten all layers” - this does the same thing as the Ctrl Alt Shift E - but you end up with a single merged layer which takes less storage than adding a merged duplicate layer using your approach
If you do that, though, you lose the ability to modify any of the elements individually. If you're absolutely certain that you aren't going to want to do that, then flattening is fine, but it is a destructive process. The upshot of this entire video is "work nondestructively", so that you can always go back and change something if you need another version or you want to use one of the assets for something else, or even just match settings for an effect in another image. You never know when you'll say "I wish I saved a layered version of this image", so it's a good idea to ALWAYS save a layered version alongside a flattened composite.
These videos are amazing
very use full 🥰🥰🥰
Incredible...
Excellent! What resolution would you recommend when creating a new document? Would you suggest using pixels or inches?
Congratulation Bro on 5M............................Big fan
This is great,
Thanks lot
