I think thats part of the reason murderboning isnt always as fun as slasher flicks, maybe its cuz it gets too meta, maybe its cuz murderboning enthusiasts arent about it for the art, but part of the horror comes from how the monster always seems to play with their food a bit, theres uncertainty, there's tension, having you just stand there menacingly not saying a word, walking slowly towards someone and throwing your machete at them, now THATS horror, it needs theatrics and im not afraid to admit it
It can also be subjective like humor, or iterations of Zombies each horror monster is terrifying in their own respective ways and different each time they are mentioned for various reasons. Did you know that there is a slight difference in the music for Jason in each itteration of the Friday the 13th films? Most people tend not to notice it unless they watch them all a lot and are paying attention to it. Due to this you can tell what movie said piece has been liften from when it comes to people who decides to use "Friday the 13th" music. The one that tends to get used the most ( and even the Friday the 13th game is guilty of using it more than the others. ) is Part 4's variant of Jason's theme.
I played a few rounds in the dead of night a couple hours aftet this video came out. We had 4 crewmembers, no command roles or sec, the ships gravity and atmosphere were down, and the strongest weapon among us was my electrical tool box. We forced our way into security for weapons, and the slasher showed up to stop us from arming ourselves with lasers. We killed him with no casualties. I would say that the slasher needs to be stronger, or perhaps just played more opportunistically. Perhaps if he simply allowed us to take the lasers and waited patiently, he'd have won. Anyway, if I was making a slasher role, I'd make them quasi-immortal, and much slower. Maybe make a stacking mood debuff (terror) to gradually slow down crewmembers? And either make them durable to beggar belief, or give them a limited way to revive. (Maybe give them a few lives, or a timer that increases each time so that they never truly die, or maybe even respawn them whenever people say their name.)
I have learned that RPing as a disgruntled employee talking to a co-worker about their day can save your life.
