Aesop and black thought can be cryptic and hard to understand too, and in some cases very street, but a song like Body of work is fun for me to listen to as well until I understand it further

Lupe Fiasco is the greatest rapper and lyricist of all time. And there's no competition. He has single songs that are better than other people's entire album. Mural and Dots and Lines are the most lyrically dense songs ever created. No one has even gotten close to those heights of lyricism. It takes about an hour to begin to break down those 6 minute songs. Lupe is not human...

I'm going to copy my comment from a different reaction. See, Eminem can do this kind of flow and these wordplay techniques, but how is he with double, triple, quadruple entendre? I saw on reddit the ship on a trip line is a quintuple. This song in context according to Lupe is after Amy's first rap battle victory, so she's feeling herself... possibly the whole album could be from her perspective, from great start to dark ending, anything will be exceptional. I understand Em makes songs like this on the regular, but does he tho?
eminems writing is too unorthodox and his content is so unorthodox thats why hes the goat of goats theres nothing you can point to and say "eminem writes exactly like that or similar to that" eminem completely mastered the art of taking NUMEROUS contradicting topics and concepts and smashing them all together to make it make sense listen to like a SHADYXV or Underground or Stay Wide Awake or Believe and pay attention to what hes saying and how hes saying it. what eminem does to words is beyond just quadruple entendres and wordplay thats why he stands out amongst the hiphop writers on lupes level. also lupe is like black thought and mf doom combined with a lil bit of aesop rock

Eminem specializes in word bending technique and flowing so fast you can't even make it out, like rap god. I feel like Em is running out of ideas and content but at least he's still pushing, wish Andre would follow his example. I'll try to look at the songs you listed to see if they're deeper but most of the ones I've seen aren't much more than surface level, or there isn't a deeper message underlying behind his lyrics. I think Lu's entendre game is still getting even stronger, the concept of the album from 2 perspectives is a double before you even hit play on the album, whereas on the cool they were separated into songs here and there like gotta eat.

I've never read a book of his and left feeling like if was twisted but funny. It's more like a funny take on something serious that leaves you gutted and sticks with you forever. "Slaughterhouse 5" is one of the most poignant pieces of literature in the past century, at least in my opinion. And "Cats Cradle" is not far behind.

Aesop Rock will body Em and can take Lupe without a problem. Lupe made a 40+ minute video in praise of Aes, so that tells you everything you need to know. Em's rhymes are simple and childish - they're too punny and corny way too often. I can admit though that he has some anthemic sounding songs and he's got speed.
