  • You’ve probably been seeing a lot of malas around yoga studios, at festivals, etc...but what are they REALLY for? Here I share the sacred, divine purpose of mala beads and how you can use them. A HUGE thank you to Shivaloka for sponsoring this video, they are like mala/rudraksha heaven for yogis. Make sure to check them out at omshivaloka.co... You can even get 10% off anytime with my code PRASIDDHA10 !
Japamalas have been used in eastern tradition for meditation and chanting practice for at least 7,000+ years. They are an age-old part of the yogic tradition. Traditionally, malas should have 108 beads plus guru bead. Malas are used as Prayer beads, for spiritual healing, for divine connection, for protection, or even to bring out certain qualities of the wearer.
Malas have been a deep spiritual practice of Hindus and Buddhists for generations. They deserve a complete understanding, respect and intention. Each stone, crystal, seed has a purpose and power behind it. Make sure to do your research and find whats right for you.

Great video! I sell malas at my farmers market booth. Most people purchase them for fashion but it is a fun and great opportunity to educate folks about meditation and the significance of 108. We also made malas and had an intention circle with them in YTT. I am excited that something so fashionable can be a great vehicle to teach more folks about meditation.

All mala’s made with love, good intentions and especially from spiritual people are good. You don’t have to go to a ‘resource’. The source is you and those who make it. Even when it’s wood from a tree in the garden or a seed from a beautiful plant. It’s the intention and you don’t need a book for it. It’s inside you and will charge on your intention and I like it also on my clothing. This is a subtitle publicity for own purposes. Follow your heart people, all mala’s are well when made by love and 108 beads x

Good stuff, girl. Thanks for the info! I'm a Jesus-Freak myself, but I use the beads to count my breaths. My fellow Christians totally gloss over how much it says in our book to meditate. Beads are SO useful for me, plus they're quite fashionable. Blessings!

It took me 10 years of wondering why people use them, and to put 2 and 2 together to finally find out how to actually use prayer beads lol. All my life I'm like "Why do people have these beads they use in prayer?"... It took till I turned to Hinduism (which I guess I'm glad, I'm really enjoying it) and the 108 mantras repetitions to Hanuman that I thought "There has to be a way I can count these without listening to a video to count for me, and that isn't disturbing.".. and after thinking about it for awhile I then pulled out a set of beads a friend bought me while he was in Jerusalem, and realized there's 54 beads on them; after that I read about malas lol.
They really fail to explain all this in Christianity (or at least the places I went too), they're so busy with whose interpretation of the Bible is the most accurate than to actually tell you how to practice and meet God yourself lol. I wish I got the talk that said "Here's a set of beads, go around the set of beads twice as you pray for something because 108 is important. There are 108 energy centers in your body, and you are energetically connected to God, so that's why we say God is inside you.".

I definitely see mala's as something that can be universal, yet also very specific to a time and place. Educating yourself is important before using them. I don't understand how people can use them just for jewelry. Wouldn't they still have an energy/intention/vibration of some sort?
I see it as something that helps us go deeper into ourselves or our practice. That's beautiful.

Truthfully, my intuition told me what kind of crystals I should have on my mala (the image in my mind was almost instant). It was blue, and the crystals were a toss up between Angelite and Aquamarine, although I found that Aquamarine just suited me better. Now doing more research into Aquamarine, I see how much it matches my intention that I am currently brewing in my mind for the mala I cannot wait to make. Thank you for educating me further on mala's. Now I will definitely have to do the candle meditation.

    • @Camelotsmoon
      @Camelotsmoon ปีที่แล้ว

In the Tibetan book of the dead, they say the light blue light you might see (if you're not liberated by then by realizing the white light is you and going towards it) is very seductive... I would imagine because it's gentle and soothing. Also in the Navajo stories elders tell of where their tribes come from (very interesting, I recommend listening to the Navajo elder talk about it who posts on TH-cam.. extremely wise man) mention that they first started in the black world, then transitioned into the blue world, and went to where we currently are in the yellow world, and the next world is the white world. This is why aquamarine and silver is important to them.
I've been meaning to relisten to the tibetan book of the dead again to hear what they had to say about the blue light. I can also relate to aquamarine personally, as it's also strangely my birth stone... So it is very appealing to me as well.

Ma, would it be appropriate to use a mala in a non-spritual way such as to chant affirmations like "I can do it, I am good enough, etc." Love crystals and malas but do not want to be culturally inappropriate or offend any deitys. Thank you for your time.

I love your videos. Question about where you meditate with your mala and chant. Do you do it in your home puja or is any quiet space ok? Also, with your Lakshmi mala for example, did you say a Lakshmi prayer? I know you said Om Namah Shivaya for Rudraksha mala. I’m wondering if I got something intended for worship of another god if it would negate the intention of my mala by chanting Om Namah Shivaya? I know it’s universal but still want the purest intent. Appreciate any advice. Namaste 🙏

hello perhaps i can help ease your worries perhaps not but just incase i do happen to share some catholic beliefs and pray a version of the rosary and was even going to make a rosary necklace out of rudraksha incase it helps you to hear from me ultimately shiva and jesus are one i believe the rudkraksha seeds are of a higher vibration i was taught and help with mindfulness i dont want to act like a teacher theres much more others could say gl on your journey i think it may be simular to having a peice of cloth that was touched by saint peter that might be a good way to describe it they are a gift from god to help on the path to enlightenment perhaps i said some things incorrectly may i be corrected if so

Hi, I just bought some beads (different types) do to the intentions I want. What I would like to know is, if you put three different beads in a mala does the power of those beads lesson, since the whole mala is not the same bead?
Also would like to know if you put the beads of one intention together do you pray for that intention when you go to the following beads change the intentions or just the same intention all the way through?
Last, if I have 3 different malas that I wear during 40 days etc. Can I use each mala with a different intention ? For example intention mala good health chant every morning.
    Afternoon mala of prosperity
And last mala at night chant for divine spirituality?
I hope this is isn't too confusing??

Japamala are not jewelry, they are not meant to be worn as jewelry. In fact nobody should even be seeing your mala! It is not an accessory, or a piece of jewellery to be worn out and about to show the world how woke you are. Your mala is meant to be kept in a bag hidden from sight even when reciting Mantra. True some people do choose to wear them on their wrists, but those are usually Buddhists. The average person wearing a Malli out and about like it’s a piece of jewellery is clueless and should just stay away from it all together. Your mullet is a sacred artefacts and should be treated as that at all times.
