- Now that "No Time To Die" has had time to settle I figured it was time to do another full series ranking but where does the latest Bond film sit and how much have the others moved around over the last few years? Watch to find out...

I can’t believe it’s almost been 5 years since the last ranking. Super excited to see how the list has changed since then!
Also, admit it, when you started watching the list your first thought was "is Skyfall still number one or has GoldenEye retaken that spot?"
Sean Bean in his Sharpe Handsworth accent. Sheffields finest.
Do you agree with the list?
If the next Bond film doesn't have Bond making a joke about dying then the franchise will be dead.
"The next Bond film"? It's interesting how many people think the series is coming back. If it does, the next movie will be made by someone other than EON productions. And that's one big "if."
@@LeonWick526 If Bond movies didn't make a good amount of money then sure, they probably wouldn't come back, but they still make good money and sometimes break the $1 billion mark. Movie studios aren't giving up on a billion dollar franchise until several movies make sub $100m in a row.
@@AFGuidesHD Yes, but Barbara and Michael have done nothing for Bond 26. They say that they need time to reinvent the series but that's taking way longer than it should. Also, No Time To Die lost $100 million at the box office.
There will be another 007 film. It will also be a reboot again, very much like the Craig bond films.
@@LeonWick526 It'll be back eventually. Bond movies have lost money before, and they've taken long hiatuses before, so it'll be picked back up at some point. It's also a big thing in british culture, so there will be a lot of people willing to make it happen.
Refreshing to see the honesty of having Moonraker as your #2. Too many people give into pressure from "critics" and "experts" to the point where everyone's movie lists become inauthentic but sometimes you just like something and you shouldn't have to defend or justify why. Moonraker is the flagship film of this channel and I think this list now accurately represents Calvin in all his glory
Moonraker is such an entertaining film where all the 007 tropes are perfectly executed.
Moonraker was a massive hit back in 1979 and it outgrossed all of the 80's Bond films.
Totally agree with everyone's love of Moonraker. It's an enjoyable watch every time. It's TSWLM but bigger and better.
I recently responded to a post on Facebook with people's Bond rankings and I was derided so hard for really enjoying TMWTGG and AVTAK. Made me think I won't be sharing that info again
I love all lists, they're all so unique and one thing about them that we all agree on is that we love the series. If someone wants to love Spectre or Diamonds then I'm just happy they're happy
While I thoroughly dislike Moonraker, I do admire Calvin for sticking to his guns and loving it unabashedly.
The only man that would rank Moonraker over Casino Royale, Goldfinger and The Spy Who Loved Me. I don't agree with you, but I still love your videos, Calvin. Never change.
I also appreciate how absurd that is. As far as the books go though, Moonraker is perhaps my favorite of the Fleming novels, so that’s at least something haha
This channel has no credibility with it's rankings. Utter garbage.
@@oot007 If you think that, then why are you even here?! Just leave...
@@SharkWhosFondOfBond because YT algore rythm took me here darmkarnt. Go back to sleep
Moonraker is in my top 5
I am so happy that someone else has such a high opinion of The World is Not Enough. I think it's immensely underrated.
TWINE had a lot of potential, but...i come away from it feeling like the whole didn't quite measure up to the sum of its parts. i think more should have been done with renard, but i'm not sure what. denise richards isn't great, but i can forgive her part, she doesn't break the film for me. i think it's worth another rewatch to see exactly where this one falls for me.
I saw it at the cinema back in 2000 or whenever it was, and everyone loved it. The score is one of the best for any bond film.
One of my favorites
The World Is Not Enough serves as a point-by-point warmup for the best parts of Craig's era. Same writers.
I think it would have worked better with Craig as Bond. The more dramatic moments are outside of Brosnan's fairly limited acting range. In many ways it is the first Craig film despite not featuring him, the same way DAF is the first Moore film despite starring Connery.
A subjective ranking that's honest and caters to a person's individual tastes, enjoyment, and history with the films is so much more interesting and fun than anyone's attempt to create an "objective" ranking. I thoroughly enjoyed this!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!!
@@calvindysonI have an idea for a video. Do you have an email that I could use to send the idea?
@@christopherbourassa5189what’s the idea? If you don’t mind me asking?
@@sashaking1115 I wanted to hear his thoughts on the Bond films had they been filmed in the order of the books but with the actors playing in the same order they did. In other words, Connery would star in the first five films which would have been Casino Royale, Live and Let Die, Moonraker, Diamonds are Forever and From Russia with Love. Lazenby would have starred in Dr. No while Roger Moore’s first films would have been For Your Eyes Only followed by Thunderball.
I thought this could make for an interesting discussion on how the films would have been different.

I rank Moonraker number 4. People complain about Bond going into space with lasers and space marines like it is a weakness when in fact it is a strength.
Very true. Moonraker is criminally underrated.
I'm a big Sci fi fan, so it's my Bond does Sci fi moment.
@@Songbirdstress It's not science fiction, its actually science fact.
Ranking Dr.No and From Russia With Love lower than Moonraker is...well.. ridiculous, off-the-wall, unpredictable, and anything else that compels me to come back to Calvin time and time again.
When Moonraker got ranked higher than Skyfall I nearly spat out my drink 😂😂😂
ranking Thunderball at the bottom is also a sacrilege
@@maripyter agree but I do think Skyfall is overrated.
Great reworking of your ranking Calvin! I too absolutely love to watch other people's rankings, listen to the reasoning, and then agree or disagree and this was such a joy to watch!! (Props for the creation of this, I know exactly what time and energy goes into it!)
I can't help but compare our similarities and differences. For one, we are exactly on the same page with TSWLM, GF, YOLT, TWINE, TND, GE - we're the same generation, so I share the same nostalgia for Brosnan. I also have those 3 of his films in my top 10. Heck, GoldenEye has my number 2 spot! I can appreciate your praise for DAD, which I also remember liking as a kid when it came out, at 12 years old. I can also get into your love for Moonraker, and I LOVE that LTK is going up on your list! (My favorite)
We are opposites when it comes to LALD, DAF, OHMSS which you are more positive on, and SP, FYEO and TLD I am a bit more positive towards.
As for NTTD, I think I ranked that at number 18 and we are very much on the same page with that one too!
Very fun to compare! 👏🏼
Well jeron when are we having a new video?
1) I got few topics like ranking if bond allies and whose death was more effective?
2) your ranking of each of the soundtrack bond films till nttd.
My man! Always great to hear from you Jeroen. Your revisited series are the best and most polished. Here's to a great 2024 good sir 🍸
The first part of Living Daylights for me is the perfect Bond film. Proper 80s Cold War espionage.
Yes! I myself am a historian. Its one of the quitessential cold war films to me. Its so well made and very popular in eastern europe and Russia
I can't believe Calvin put it so low on the rankings. It's my second favourite after For Your Eyes Only.
Its mainly the second half that drags really. Shame too@dominicsantiago8177
@@dominicsantiago8177 Oh you are the same as me. Love the cold war thriller films! FYEO is my favourite bond film with OHMSS, TLD, LTK and FRWL being close behind!
@@EAO_Wadsy In that case, we are very similar. Yep, I would definitely put both OHMSS and FRWL very high in my rankings. But I've never been a big fan of LTK. Although I haven't seen it in forever, so I must give it another chance. I really enjoy Timothy Dalton as Bond.
So happy you’ve updated your ranking list. It’s crazy how many films have changed in your rankings.
Calvin we rarely agree on anything; every time I go right, you go left. But I always tune into your channel because your enthusiasm and love for the character is always a great thing to behold! Keep up the good work
Thanks so much for that, Mickey! I really appreciate it 😁😁😁
James Bond rankings are so played out by now and yet, somehow, you make them into must-see comfort food every time and it's fun to see how one evolves in their tastes as well as how they stay loyal to certain favorites.
Calvin, did you notice that the move that Bond does to protect himself from Grant´s blows, with his arms, by raising them, is recreated in GoldenEye (1995), in Bond´s final fight against Trevelyan? Very moving. Heartwarming. A glowing tribute.
I think Mr Wint and Mr Kidd need a Joker style origin story where they're a failed Las Vegas comedy duo who went bad.
Moonraker's placement is my personal moment of this list that makes me go "Good God" haha. But, like Calvin says, I'm happy that other people are happy watching it :) Great list, Calvin! Always lots of fun!
I cannot stand the fact that Diamonds are forever and Die Another Day are higher than For Your Eyes Only, The Living Daylights and No time to Die
They are more fun.
Die Another Day has gotten higher on my list too. But I feel like Brosnan’s Bond Films are becoming more loved because of the fatigue of the Craig Era and the dour ending.
Honestly. Critically his films are some of the most maligned but I think those of us who grew up in the early 2000’s know that Goldeneye and TWINE are god-tier Bond films. Another thing that Pierce has going for him is that he is the Bond who is the face of Bond video games. Goldeneye 64, Nightfire, Everything or Nothing. That’s why I think his legacy has such staying power with Millenials and Gen Z (such as myself).
For 50 years, they've followed a pattern of switching between serious and camp whenever they change Bond actors (campy Moore followed by serious Dalton followed by campy Brosnan followed by serious Craig), so it seems like a guarantee that the next Bond actor will mark a return to humor and outlandish plots.
Watching the whole series for the first time I find it hard to swallow Die another day high on a list that movie tainted the bond well for years I genuinely found it embarrassing I felt so bad for Pierce especially with Goldeneye being so good and tomorrow never dies being better than I think people give it credit for he deserved a better send off, as a fan of Craigs movies excluding Quantum I'll take dour any day over Gustav Graves.
@@adamcammack3534 I watched it a few months ago, I just couldn't get over how ridiculous Graves looked in that suit towards the end. He looked like a Marvel franchise villain.
Also, just how does Graves go from not existing to being famous enough to be knighted by Queen in 18 months?
To me, brosnan films are thriving but it's mostly at the cost of roger moore and Sean Connery

The top 10 is movies that all could easily share a top 3 spot.
The middle 5 is movies i enjoy ans can come back to with anticipation.
The bottom 10 is movies i can occassionally enjoy but isn't a must watch.
Since i was a kid, though I enjoyed every movie up to Goldeneye, i were always drawn to what I feel takes itself a bit more serious as a Spy-movie, with few light moment between Action, thriller etc. For humor i like comedies that dedicate itself more to be comedy, same with all genres, it need to lean hard within the genre that defines it. If I want a Spy-thriller/Action, then i want that.
Why did you like Live and Let Die and TSPWLM but pretty not The Man with the Golden Gun or For Your Eyes Only? I would put them higher, especially For Your Eyes Only above Dr. No, Skyfall or TND or LtK.
@suarezguy It's my list and my personal taste and preferences, get over yourself.

Fair play for having Moonraker so high, it is the one I seem to be going back to the most lately. John Barry's score for that one is an absolute masterpiece.
Also Calvin’s note about the sets is truly a big one. Bond movies are better when the showmanship and presentation is grand, and that’s certainly the case for Moonraker. It’s not one of my favorites by any means, but I give it a lot of props!
Love The Spy Who Loved Me but aside from a slightly better villain motivation Moonraker felt like redoing it back to back except taking everything way too far.
We are nearly the same age, and I share your sentiments about Pierce. He’ll always be my Bond.

Great ranking. Living Daylights is my #1 as well.
I like this list a lot.
Dr.No is my favorite Bond film..it's so beautifully shot!It only had a million dollar budget and it looks stunning!
I have it at #3 right now and it’s my highest Connery film. It still feels fresh and vibrant and I love it for being unencumbered by the tropes of the film series.
What I love about Bond is the always different ranking lists. Someone's least favorite can be someone's favorite. So many flavors of British cinema on display over the course of 60 year and 25 films.
Bond’s really an interesting case because most franchises get up to a few films and then just kind of die and get rebooted about twenty or thirty years later, with Bond they’ve been consistently going for over 60 years. Far from just being a franchise now, it’s a part of history and a way of seeing how different generations tackled the same basic character and story.
@@samuelbarber6177 There's also echoes of life and societal changes too, which makes them time capsules. Just rewatched Living D and you totally get a sense of pre fall Cold War.
Goldeneye is my favourite Bond film. It's refreshing to see Bond go up against his friend or work colleague. Overall Brosnan movies are in my top as I loved how well Brosnan did.
You took three well deserved weeks off and then you come back with a new movie ranking, happy new year, Calvin haha.
Controversial list but you can 101% explain your choices very thoroughly and for a Bond die hard, I can't help but concurrently agree.
Not wanting to live in a world without Moonraker is one of the nicest things I've ever heard anyone say about the film, so wholesome
Welcome back, Mr Bond fan. When you do a ranking list I know it's going to be good.
There's plenty here that I disagree with but as Calvin hints at himself, that's inevitable when we're talking about something as subjective as appreciation of movies. The list is put together with so much knowledge and love for the series that I just want to say thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I particularly appreciate the way we're shown how opinions can change over time. That's certainly true for me too, and I'm now revising my own personal Bond ranking list. Brilliant post. Thanks Calvin.
I personally disagree with his love for the Pierce Brosnan movies (not saying they are worse as films than what I like) but we all have our different styles of movies that we love, he feels lots of nostalgia to the Brosnan era while I feel most nostalgia towards the Connery, 1960s style of Bond movies, it feels like being child again when I think about them. There are so many different styles of Bond that I feel everyone can find something they like and why it probably is so varied what people like and Bond definitely is lots of nostalgia for lots of people.
1 The Spy Who Loved Me
2 Goldfinger
3 The Man with The Golden Gun
4 The Living Daylights
5 From Russia With Love
About 10 years ago or so, I did a marathon of all Bond films up to that point (including the 2 non-Eon ones), 25 movies straight. It took me a little over 3 days to do, taking as few breaks as possible. Just to see if I could do it. I honestly believe that was the most painful thing I have ever done, and I am a combat vet with multiple tours and a 25-year heavy construction worker. I think I cried when it was over, not because I was sad that it ended, but happy that it did. Furthermore, I said that, I think I did because I don't really remember. I was so delirious by the end.
SPECTRE was for me by far the biggest missed opportunity, because there is so much potential in putting to screen the actual rise of the canonical organization. I have often thought about how I would rewrite that film, and I have never even come close to trying, but in my mind I always gravitated towards some sort of classical spy thriller, focused more on the craft and the challenges that come with building out an organization like that, and less on direct action. I don't know, there are huge challenges in the whole concept of putting a focus directly on SPECTRE, probably the best answer is that this movie should never have been made :p
I've read some older version of the script and there was a lot of important changes in the story. For example, I've never understood the C plotline. As it turns out, there was specifically show he was controlled by Spectre/Blofeld.
Edit: about your opinion Spectre should've never been made - I honestly think Skyfall should've been Craig's last one. I think that it would prevent good chunk of (imo) bad decisions.
'Never should have been made' is going too far for me as pretty much what Quantum teased in revealing the organization behind Mr White -that question had to be answered as Skyfall had ignored it. James Bond & Friends podcast recently went though the various drafts of the script and it's clear the troubled shoot impacted the film [for example, the original ending was leaked as part of the Sony hack so needed to be changed but the new version still had to finish on London Bridge as that set had already been built; originally Madeline was going to fight Blofeld's female heavy-a new version of Irma Bunt-in the climax but that character was deleted from the script, hence why she just wanders around London before being kidnapped]. I do think, like the Craig saga overall, Spectre works better when watched as part 4 of his 5 part saga rather than on it's own [and it's Craig giving his version of the the 'classic cinematic' Bond in his performance].
@@jamesatkinsonja Fair points. I was also a big fan of Craig's bond, from the very start, especially because it was such a natural flow from watching as a child, into a bit more serious now as an adult, while humor and fun still remained present. As for SPECTRE, I feel so conflicted about it I am not even sure precisely how to express what it is that I hoped it would be.
As a decent bond fan, I came for your agent under fire and nightfire playthurs and reviews but now I’m staying for movies and books. Spot on my friend keep it up!
With the world of not enough being my favourite bond film, seeing it so high makes me very happy.

I was relieved to hear your more balanced take on NTTD. At one point, I feared you putting it at the bottom. Wish it had been a bit higher, but given how much you loath the ending, this isn’t too bad. But the highlight for this video has to be the creeping realisation, as we near the top three, that Moonraker is yet to come. I would like to see Calvin do another 'watch all the Craig films in a row' as the ending works a lot better when you've seen that Bond's journey through the films. I do wonder if people will warm to it when [eventually!] more Bond's come out and people see the Craig era as it's own entity [bit like how OHMSS downer ending wasn't really appreciated until later].
@@jamesatkinsonja Agree with this. I don’t have a problem with the ending as it is. Obviously it’s sad, but I don’t feel that makes it bad. But I think you’re right - when NTTD is no longer the new film that we’re left with, waiting for the next one, I’m sure a lot of people will find the ending less confronting because they’ll see the series is fine, continuing on as it always has.
When I did my ranking, No Time to Die came out 12. I've since softened a bit on that, but I do agree it's a hard one to rank. I do think it's one of the better Bond swan songs, and it’s got an awful lot to love, but I can totally understand the ending of the film souring the meal. But for me, two thirds of an almost three hour film being a lot of fun is hard to dismiss. That’s a remarkable feat.
As for top 5, I'm glad you’ve leaned into your own tastes and let your adoration of Moonraker shine. It’s never been a favorite of mine, but I love seeing every film championed by someone, somewhere. And it’s so true that almost everyone has one top 5 entry that's a headscratcher for others. For me, it's For Your Eyes Only.
So awesome to see the updated ranking! Goldfinger was my favorite for ages, though now I think The Living Daylights may have just taken its place. Similar to YOLT and Octopussy, it's a film that just gets better and better every time I see it. Glad to see I'm not the only one who changes their mind on these things. ^_^
I always wonder why people try to discount their experiences or nostalgia for a film when they rank them. Surely how you relate to a film personally is the most important thing when ranking them. Love to see Moonraker at 2.
Top 5 Bond films for me are...
5. You Only Live Twice
4. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
3. From Russia with Live
2. Tomorrow Never Dies
1. Licence to Kill
Also Diamonds are Forever is my absolute favourite Bond film to watch on a Sunday afternoon. Just putting that out there.
Don't really get love for Lazenby (too bland though he has moments especially the romance) or Dalton (too dry and also brutal with almost no charm).

I'm not surprised. It's the best Bond film, after all.

So exited to check this ranking out it’s been 5 long years and we are finally full circle!
@37:20 - Admit it Calvin, seeing Timothy Dalton instead of Roger Moore wear the clown disguise is something we deserved so much and were denied.
The big one's here! Still remember when the previous ranking of all movies released. Excited to see what changed and what hasn't!
Long time fan. Love your work, Calvin.

You have really stepped up the image quality and on screen graphics in this video. It looks great!
Great call on the Lotus/Helicopter shot - I've always been amazed at the sense of speed you get from that.
Diamonds are forever is my Moonraker. It's the first one I ever saw and introduced me to the series and remains my number one favorite to this day followed by The spy who loved me, Skyfall, Tomorrow Never Dies and Octopussy. Keep up the great work Calvin you are my favorite Bond creator. Your fan, Mike Zinza
I recently finished a 40th anniversary, 2023 re-cut of "Never Say Never Again" and now have previews available to view... with a way to watch/download my re-cut online, for free , which you will find in the comments section below. After you've watched the fully re-cut film please leave a comment to let me and others know what you thought of my work. If there's anything you didn't like, I'd like to hear it.
Wonderful Calvin!!! Thank you so much for these long from Bond videos. They are a labor of love, and it shows. Thank you!!
Heavily agree with your assessment of "No Time To Die". For about two thirds of the film, this is up there with my absolute favorites! Everything from Madeira, to Jamaica, Cuba and London I adore and love to rewatch! Even the (predictable) twist of Mathilde is adorable! But starting with the Norwegian forest fight, the movie just goes completely off the rails and enters the deepest depths of cringe. Never seen a movie evoking such starkly conflicting emotions in me. 😄
honestly, the worst thing the film did was to tie itself to the rotting corpse that was the last film. that immediately put it at a severe disadvantage. but there were other problems:
1) casting a black woman as "007". i know how that sounds, but my gripe with it is that i think it was done just to fulfill some diversity quota, to satisfy the wokies. it doesn't play an important part in the story. if she'd been 008 instead, i'd have no problem. but doing this just to do it seems phony and inauthentic.
2) i didn't buy the romance with madeline in spectre and i don't buy it here. there's very little about the way they interact that suggests she should be this important to him. with vesper it was believable. with madeline, it isn't.
3) bond dies. i feel this is something you should only do if you're dead certain this will be the last film in the series.
also, the villain was rather lackluster and it had the gloomy feel that all the craig films do. he should have quit after skyfall because the series has not had an original thought since.
to me, this ranks below every film but spectre. i'd even put thunderball's 1983 bastard child ahead of it. at least that had fatima and mr. bean in it.
@@doaftheloaf 1. It is an important part of the story [and frankly would have the same beats if a white male was playing the role]. Bond has retired and MI6 is not sentimental about it. They replaced him and the replacement is an upstart who doesn't respect Bond and is proud of taking the number, hence why there fighting on the opposite side in the Cuba mission. However, there character arc is them gaining respect for Bond who's shown he's still a valuable agent coming out of retirement, hence why by the time of the third act, they've gained respect for him-handing the 007 number back to him, fighting by his side while Bond shows he respects them as he trust them to look after his family and help them escape.
@@doaftheloaf NTTD was doomed from the start as a direct sequel to Spectre and retconning all of Craig's films as one continuity.
@@jamesatkinsonja she gives the number back before long. it doesn’t really go anywhere. and she’s not a bad character; it just bugs me that they made it a black woman simply to tick that box on the diversity checklist. so they could say they made 007 a black woman.
@@JarJarBinks4ever it didn’t work in spectre, let’s do it again!

The World is Not Enough (I believe if I recall correctly) has one of my favourite lines from a Bond film ever: _"I'm looking for a Submarine. It's big, black and the driver is a good friend of mine."_ Well deserved placement. 👌
Gotta love o'l valentin lol. RIP Robbie Coltrane

Another Calvin Bond film ranking? We’ve been blessed.
Wonderful video and ranking Calvin 👏👏
Love your top 5. Great to see Moonraker represented so highly and Goldeneye back where it belongs at #1 🏆
If The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill were in the top 10 it'd be the perfect ranking for me personally. Dalton is the man.
Thank you for your videos - it is a truly trying time for us Bond fans 😔
TWINE always ranked near the top of my list. People who act like the movie is completely sunk because of Denise Richards are ridiculous. In recent years I think Goldeneye has overtaken it, because I feel it fizzles out a bit near the end, but it's still near the top for me.
Also, your #2 pick didn't surprise me knowing what you like in your Bond films, and it was also the first non-theatrical Bond film I ever saw, and finally, in my own recent personal rankings I've determined I agree with your #1.
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:00 🎬 *Calvin is ranking all James Bond films based on personal taste, acknowledging diverse preferences in the Bond fandom.*
02:01 🤷 *"Never Say Never Again" is at the bottom of the list due to being a drag, not connecting with the story, and missed potential for a different take on Bond.*
03:52 🃏 *"Casino Royale" (1967) is a Bond comedy spoof, not a recommended introduction to James Bond, appreciated more by Bond obsessives.*
06:12 🔍 *"Quantum of Solace" faces criticism for bothersome directing, editing choices, and a lack of enjoyment despite positive re-evaluation in the Bond fandom.*
08:19 🔍 *"Spectre" ranks low due to overcorrections from the previous film, a weak plot twist, and action sequences that don't excite.*
09:13 🌊 *"Thunderball" is visually appealing but criticized for a dragging story, uninteresting villain plot, and aggressive editing.*
10:52 😅 *"The Man with the Golden Gun" slips lower on the list due to a feeling of tiredness, awkward Bond portrayal, and sluggishness.*
11:35 🔫 *"The Living Daylights" is considered a training wheels outing, with enjoyable moments but a plot that feels confusing and forgettable.*
13:11 🕵️ *"For Your Eyes Only" ranks lower due to a lack of memorable main villain and a tonal reset that feels average compared to other Bond films.*
14:52 🎭 *"No Time to Die" presents a mixed experience, with highs in action, Cuba sequence, and Camp fun, but a final third filled with contrivances and poorly executed emotional moments.*
18:53 🎬 *"No Time to Die" had solid intentions, but execution was majorly fumbled. Film includes quirky elements like Blofeld's eye on a pillow and Ana de Armas kicking ass.*
19:33 🤣 *"Diamonds Are Forever" is a campy Bond film, more of a comedy than a spy thriller. Charles Gray's performance and witty script contribute to its unique charm.*
22:59 🔄 *"Die Another Day" was initially loved but faced criticism later. Despite its flaws, the film has fun moments, and Pierce Brosnan's performance is appreciated.*

56:21 ☕ *GoldenEye is praised for introducing a phenomenal Bond (Pierce Brosnan) with iconic moments, a highly caffeinated energy, and a vibrant kinetic pace credited to director Martin Campbell.*
57:02 🏛️ *GoldenEye is considered a Marvel of a film, deserving of a modern classic status, and crucial for setting up the Bond series in a new era of real-world politics.*

Happy new year Calvin! Thanks for the great content.
Sleeping postponed, this is essential viewing
Was about to go to bed until I saw there was a new Calvin Dyson ranking! But what is one less hour of sleep?
Happy New Year Calvin! Cannot wait to watch this in full, but after a quick preview I can confirm I’m also a Brosnan lover and my nostalgia for TWINE is up there with yours. First one I ever saw at the cinema with my Dad. Spy Who Loved me and Goldeneye are also in my top 5 and I have a lot of love for Live & Let Die also as it’s the first one I taped off ITV. Blew my mind when I saw the uncut version years later on VHS! Goldfinger is my number 1, it really is a stone cold Classic! Keep up the good work Sir 👍🏻🤵🏻♂️🇬🇧💥🎬
I think its fair to say there isn't a bad Bond film, and even Never Say Never Again is somebody's favorite.
Always a good day when Calvin drops a ranking video
I love hiw GoldenEye is shot, as well. It really pulls you into that post-Soviet era with its moody atmosphere.
Golden eye 👁️ is my favorite bond film 📽️ too so dang good 😊
Finally! Now we have updated thoughts and gratitude for tier list Calvin coming back with the milk!
Die Another Day, Diamonds are Forever, Quantum of Solace, The Man with the Golden Gun and View to a Kill need more love out there. They all have their fans, but they need a bit more appreciation.
I too have a soft spot for TMWTGG. Never understood the hate it gets.
Quantum is the one I do find defending more, especially as it went though a hellish production so the end product is a 'damage limitation' exercise, but it does have it's moments and some of the plot threads in Skyfall [M+Bond's relationship, M's decision making being under pressure] are actually set up in that film.
They mostly get love from me. Diamonds is in my top 2 (never sure which) and I love Golden Gun and View to a Kill. Truly, I can only say I like Quantum but I rate Die Another Day in my bottom 5. My worst by a long shot is Spectre. It was so bad that I decided to stop watching Bond at that point, having loved the series since my first, Goldfinger.
James Bond: That gun, it looks more fitting for a woman.
Emilio Largo: You know much about guns, Mr. Bond?
James Bond: No, but I know a little about women.
This dialogue from Thunderball is ABSOLUTE CINEMA
Was really surprised by Moonraker 2nd ranking but pleased to see it. First one I saw at the cinema as a teenager and I was exhausted afterwards ... It has to be one of the best value for money films for Bond fans. You can see the money being spent up there on the screen like an expensive gift to the fan base.
I disagree with almost every position (some more, some less)... But this ranking does transpire so much love, personality and honesty that I could watch it over and over again without any signal of tireness, or rather with an always increasing concern.
Extremely interesting the comparison with the 2019-ranking.
For me, your very best video along with the one about the Bond directors.

.Goldeneye
.The Spy Who Loved Me
.On Her Majesties Secret Service
.Casino Royale
.No Time To Die
*Controversial to have "No Time To Die" on the list but I just really adore the more grander feeling adventure to the film, almost feeling like a Roger Moore romp, and I love the absolute rollercoaster it takes you on. Probably Craig's most goofiest film of his run as bond but I always find myself getting wrapped up in it. As soon as "Blowfeld's camera eye" is introduced I was hooked!! I understood what kind of film this was going to be
It's always nice to see your appreciation for TWINE. It's honestly one of my most revisited bonds. I just love the characters. Pierce is top notch, sophie marceau played a terrific villain/faux bond girl, I love seeing robbie coltrane (RIP) as valentin back and given more to do, renard is formidable and a good red herring, and xmas jones is not awful lol

Like I said some time ago, I am more of a casual Bond enjoyer (years can pass without me watching a Bond film) but I enjoy your content on Bond very much. It was fun watching the video to see whether Goldeneye had taken the top spot this time. I personally never do rankings of anything, but Goldeneye is certainly one of those Bond movies that are undoubtedly deserving.
Nostalgia is strongest for me with the Connery movies. I primarily watched those during childhood. I dont think of him as Bond because he had other great movies, but if I think of Bond, he comes most often to mind.
I liked watching Roger Moore but nowadays I have a bit of a hard time watching his movies except one (okay, maybe 2): The Man with the Golden Gun. Shocking, I know. It's nostalgia what can I say. I recently watched Moonraker and Octopussy for the first time and I just couldn't quite get into them.
I also recently rewatched OHMSS after 20+ years. I didn't particularly like it then ("that's not Sean Connery"), but was very pleasantly surprised this time. I really liked Telly Savalas as Blofeld.
Keep your enthusiasm for the series (not that I fear that you would lose it anytime soon) and me and others will keep watching. The fun that you are doing these videos makes it quite hard to disagree with your choices, for me at least, not that there is anything wrong with that.
Loved reading through this so thanks for commenting, especially as you say you’re a more casual Bond enjoyer it means a lot to me that you’re enjoying the videos! Very much appreciated 👍 👍
What fun! I love how you put this together, especially the visual gags. Production aside, there is still enough high-level content to ensure your usual quality endeavour. Interesting to see how some movies moved in your overall ranking. It's probably been as many years since I've attempted a Bond ranking so maybe over Winter, I'll sit down, crank up the popcorn and rewatch the series. As you say, it might be a few years before something new comes on our screens.
Great job, Calvin!
Thanks very much, Dean! This one took a good while to put together so I'm very happy to hear you thought it was well put together and the visual gags worked :) Much appreciated!
no Time to Die's title is the biggest lie since The Neverending Story.
Although it does make Die Another Day’s title incredibly accurate
You very nearly lost me by putting TLD so low Calvin, but you totally redeemed yourself with TWINE at 5. My first cinematic Bond and I was obsessed with it from '99 to '02. I will never not love it, well played sir :)
