    Thanks so much!!! I have been trying to figure out both a mount and navigation solution for my new sea doo and you solved both for me with a cost effective solution and ease of removal at the arm connection so I can cover the PWC. Appreciate this well made and easy to follow video. Keep it up.

      That is so great to hear that the video was able to help with your set up. Yes that was a great and cheap way to solve that issue and it works so well. Thanks so much for checking out the video and for reaching out really do appreciate it Cheers!

    Ram mounts are the best, for sure! I have 3 X-Clamps. One on my motorcycle, one in my RV and one on my bicycle. I have found that you really don't need the rubber thingy. I have used Ram mounts of several kayaks, power boat, bikes, etc. Good review! THanks.

      Yes it is so great to have for sure and so easy to use. Thanks so much for saying that and for checking out the video Cheers!

    Very helpful! We just bought a pair of GTX 230’s which we’ll pick up in the spring to use in NW Michigan on Lake Michigan. Trying to learn all I can about them before picking them up so I can dive right in once the weather warms a bit.

      Hey Bob, Thanks so much! Nice you are going to really like those units! I will say my buddy has the 230 and they are good on fuel until you put it in sports mode. Then you are sucking fuel like nothing but they can fly so best for just shot periods. In normal and ecco mode you can really get some good distance on them to get out and explore. You must have some great riding up in that area and with those units you could get out and see those island. if you have any other questions just let me know and keep me posted when you get them like to hear what you think of them and get up to with them! Have a great one out there!

      ForrestSound I expect we’ll be in touring mode mostly but had planned to add the LinQ gas cans to each, just in case. Then I saw what Sea-doo is asking for those. Wow, they’re pretty proud of their little 4-gallon plastic cans, aren’t they?

    • @MarkForrestAdventures
      @MarkForrestAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Bob, sorry for not getting back to you sooner! It is a nice add on to have but yes you are right so not worth the cost. They added mine in when I bought the unit but I will tell you we found that you can fit a normal 20 L ( 5 gallon ) plastic can in that storage bin and still have tons of room for stuff for the day, and they only cost like 15 $ so check that out. I show it in one of the videos. Hope all is well counting down till we are all back out there Cheers!

    Very nice solution for adding the Ram mounts. I use the same on my motorcycle. I have seen other installations that have had units drilled into the body work and like you, found it a bit more commitment than i like. The only thing i dislike about the RAM mounting is the silly rubber edge pieces. They can break off with constant UV exposure. I would probably go for a waterproof casing on my phone though.

    • @MarkForrestAdventures
      @MarkForrestAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya it was a great solution for sure but know what you mean about the rubber parts. Now I put that garmin on the sea doo and that is just a game changer. Thanks for checking out the video and reaching out cheers!

    Great review. Thanks. I’m picking up my first Spark 3up in April 2021 and I’m watching all your videos. Do you recommend this Ram mount for my iPhone XR with Navionics on the left handlebar?

    • @MarkForrestAdventures
      @MarkForrestAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Bill ! Nice you are going to have so much fun on the Spark! If you are just going to be ripping it around and not going far then no its not really needed and gives you more grip space. But if you are looking to make a day out there or travel to different places then yes I fully recommend it as it will be very useful in new places for sure. Only issue is not sure if you can plug a USB or power the phone when riding a Spark as the app will use up your phones battery when on. But if you keep your eye on it and take like a small batt bank you should be good. Hope that helps and thanks so much for checking out the videos and for reaching out all the best Cheers!

      @billg5608 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the advice. Going to get the optional 12 volt outlet in the Spark so should be able to plug it in there with adapter. Hope to do some touring with the Spark although I know it’s not really a touring machine. I’m in Collingwood. Have you had any adventures over my way or do you have any insight on riding around the Collingwood area?

      Any time Bill. Ah ok great that will help you out a lot! I have gone from Owen Sound up to Tobermory on it in one day now you feel it the next but still fun. Nice been there a few times I am based out of Owen Sound area. Yes be very careful on your depth over there. It has a lot of shallow areas that you can ride but just keep an eye out and you should be good to go! Maybe see you out there this year Cheers!

      @@billg5608 please let us know how the spark is for touring…I have heard that it is not that comfortable for traveling long distance

    Seems like it will be challenging to put the seadoo cover over the ball sticking out

    • @MarkForrestAdventures
      @MarkForrestAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at all there is a enough room for it to fit. Also there are newer covers now that have extra space for like the Garmin fish finder so they have add even more room.

    Great review of your Navionics setup, thanks! Looks like you're using a Garmin unit now. How do you like the Garmin in comparison to Navionics? Would you make the switch again after working with both?

    • @MarkForrestAdventures
      @MarkForrestAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Kory! Thank you so much! Yes I have gone over to the Garmin and I really do like it for the features and that is is just right there on the sea doo. The Navionics app is amazing and I still use it just not on the water more for research to new areas. The Garmin is not perfect but does more or less everything I need and with the bigger screen way better to see on the water. No I will stay with the Garmin for on the water but will keep the Navionics as a great back up. Thanks for reaching out and checking out the video all the best Cheers!

    I like your videos. I just got a PWC and look forward to exploring Georgian Bay in 2020. Stupid question - do you worry about your phone getting wet? Or is it in a waterproof case?

    • @MarkForrestAdventures
      @MarkForrestAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much Aleisha! That is great one kind of PWC did you get? You will love it where about on Georgina Bay are you looking to explore? As for the phone not at all. I had the Apple 8S and it is more or less waterproof. I have had it out in rain and been soaked in waves and no issues. So no I have no case on it and have had no issues. Just got an Apple 11 and it is even more waterproof so not a worry I have but I do have Apple care jut in case LOL. Thanks for watching have a good one out there Cheers!

    When you were considering your mount selection, did you ever consider the RAM Torque Mount? Am looking at my options for my 2019 Wake 155 and was considering this as opposed to the U-Bolt. My fear is that there isn't enough width clearance for this mount. Unfortunately RAM doesn't publish the actual width of their mounts. Also, as i don't have the machine at home, stranded at the dealer who is closed due to COVID, would you happen to know the diameter of the grip in the area where you installed the mount? Thanks and keep up the great posts!

    • @MarkForrestAdventures
      @MarkForrestAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey David no I did not really look at that one as I had in my head that if I could get the U-Bolt one around the grip would be great. If that did not work I had a few other spots where i was going to drill the plastic and run the bolts through there and then seal the hole. But that was only a fall back plan. So that is why I went with the U-Bolt one.I will go check the grip for you and send you a note with the size. Cheers!

    I really like this video and I'm considering purchasing this mount...do you know the size of the arm? On amazon it seems like they come in various sizes. The medium arm is 3" long. Thanks!

    Thanks for the video…do you use any type of vhf radio on your ski?

    • @MarkForrestAdventures
      @MarkForrestAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Wayne! Thanks for checking it it appreciate it! No I do not but I do have a Zoleo GPS system. So it can send an SOS out from anywhere with my location as well it syncs up to your phone to give you satellite text and bread crumb tracking as well as real time weather all with not needing a cell signal or wifi. So works great when out on the water or long trips up north where there is not much cell coverage. Here is the link if you are interested.

    After you download the maps, will it still work without cell service? Looks like you go to some pretty remote locations.

    • @MarkForrestAdventures
      @MarkForrestAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey yes after you have downloaded the section of map you want that you can see if with no cell service. Now if you want to record your trip the app will then use some cell data to track you. Yes we are out there so it is good that you can use it with no data. Thanks for reaching out and checking out the videos cheers!
