  • Wow. Just... wow. What an impressive model!
    Hard to believe he came out of a 3D printer. This guys is at the top of my list of 2020 models so far, he's that impressive!
    Shockingly I had little print errors on him- just a few little spots on his flames and some tiny spikes that aren't even worth worrying about.
    Everything fit together easily, which is always a worry I have with printed pieces- oftne parts don't want to slot where they should, but nope, he's good!
    Size- wise, he's big enough to contend with some of my actual tabletop heavyweights as well. Even more impressive is the fact that I got his parts all to fit on the print bed of my Sonic Mini! There isn't a whole lot of room on it to work with!
    If you're a fan of big demons and monsters, I urge you to check out Archvillain's current offerings while they're cheap. Yeah, they'll be on sale at some future point, but if you think you'll print it, might as well get this guy and all his equally impressively sized buddies while they're a measly 10 bucks.
    I'll try to get print some of the other demons from this set to show off. They're quite an impressive lot, and I could see them being used for tabletop RPGs just as easily in wargames as daemons or abysals...
    Take a look for yourself!

    The detail on this guy is great, I'm not a massive fan of giant size figures, however a few big chaps on the table top dose look good, all the best Garry

    Love this! and LOVE Archvillain games. For other big 3d print minis, can i recommend Mini Monster Mayhem. They have some big dragons. Love your reviews as always!!

    Wow that looks so good! It appears like they are giving creature caster a run for their money as far as detail and managing it on retail grade printers. Whoever sculpted it did a fantasic job making all that detail thick enought to print but thin enough to make sense and look good. Also they have some next level pre-supports if you ran that on default settings and didn't lose an arm/leg/horn. Well worth the $10 I just spent buying this month's set lol.

    Nice print! Well done for getting it printed so well. My printing is halted at the moment because my printer is in the shed and the cold really affects resin prints. I'll maybe heat the shed just to get a few prints done!

    Oh boy did I make a mistake and glue it all up first. I had to do some serious jockeying to get him on the base with the tale on. I definitely should've painted it in pieces. I typically paint all my piece together, not always on the base, I just didn't want to handle this guy because of the spikes breaking off. There are plenty of pros but plenty of logistical cons with this beautiful print.

    I had the same issue with the base and had a problem with the left wing tip that looks like a dragon head. The corpses falling off are also par for the course. This print is very ambitious but overall I'm very happy with it.

      This month's models look to be just as ambitious. I'd love to print them but I don't have a whole lot of use for dwarfs at the moment.

    did you enlarge the model or these are in original size? im not sure if i can enlarge those miniatures to that size and print out with similar details

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope- I just printed it as is! Archvillain's stuff is just that big sometimes! I've got quite a few other models of theirs I need to film and they're all just as big!
      They do make normal sized models as well too...

    Not happy with the essentria model from them bought from a Etsy seller and found out the model melted all over my shelf from the base.

      That stinks. Sorry to hear that. I'm going to guess it was hollowed and not fully cured. It's happened to a few of my models as well, and I try to be pretty good about that. Hopefully the model itself is fine and it's just excess uncured resin that's leaking, as at least that can be cleaned up.
      Perhaps try blasting the inside with a UV light or let it sit outside in direct sunlight for a bit.

    how much resin does it take to print this dude? looks so awesome

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a while ago, but I'm sure it took a fair amount. Definitely less than a bottle. Some of the more recent models from Archvillain used more resin and still didn't polish off a bottle themselves.... yet. I haven't printed Orcus, so there's still a good chance!

    Just to clarify: Was this printed on normal Sonic Mini or 4K? Been pondering between couple printer options and wondering if the 4K is worth the extra. Especially as the Sonic Mini 4K is quite hard to get atm and much more expensive than lets say Elegoo Mars 2 Pro.

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just the regular sonic mini, at the default settings, nothing even tweaked, which it probably should... but yeah.
      I'm debating about upgrading to a 4k one as well, but haven't done much research into it yet.
      At the very least I want something with a much larger print bed!

    Did you use the 'auto supports'? or did it come with a file that was 'pre-supported'?

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used the presupports, but I want to say they may have gone back and tweaked some of the supports since this was released.

    How does archvillians games work, you pay $10 a month and still have to pay for the files per model? Or is it like loot studios where you pay monthly and get the files with your monthly payment?

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More like the latter. Pay your monthly fee, download everything available for the month. Archvillain has a higher tier that has a PDF adventure module that ties in all the models for the month as well.

    Don't buy from these guys they have terrible customer service. If you bring up any issues you have about their models they will basically tell you to get over it and then block you so you can't let other people know.
