The star of this episode will be a huge stonework wine cellar, a remnant of one of the many resort hotels which once existed in the area around Reading, PA.
By the time WWI had begun in 1914 the hotel above the wine cellar had been converted into a tuberculosis sanitarium, eventually closing in 1932.
Then we visit a mystery structure that Cole discovered along the Schuylkill River at the base of the mountain.
Why was this anomalous stone chamber constructed where it was? It's not a root cellar or a culvert, or some kind bunker. So what purpose did it serve?

We have been here to explore and film, but by the looks of your video, just seven minutes in, I believe we have missed quite a bit. Thanks to you, Brett, and most certainly Cole for introducing us to more to explore!

Hey Topo ! Could the culvert have been a powder magazine for the RR ? For blasting the cut ? Up the hill looked like solid rock.
EDIT : I posted this comment before watching the whole video. 2 minutes later, you said dynamite.
I think the vaulted sieling and thick stone walls confirm this.
    Thanks for another great video!

I think most people who’ve hiked Neversink Mountain would be shocked at the sheer amount and condition of the ruins that dot both sides of the mountain. Five hotels, TB sanatorium, a sienna mine, train tracks, dam, proving ground, etc. all were in operation nearly at the same time or within a decade or so on the mountain and their footprint and foundations are still present today. Always a blast hanging out with the mad geological genius that is Brett and he’s never afraid to get off trail, crawl into dark corners, and get dirty in the pursuit of exploration. If you’ve never visited Neversink I highly encourage you to visit the many trails, overlooks, and history that the mountain has to offer!

It was a cool location. I'd like to get back up there with Cole during warmer weather. Lots more up on the mountain to see.

Fascinating look around at Neversink Mountain. I can't believe how many structures you guys showed, I wonder if there are more still? Dynamite shed was the first thing I thought based on the size and thickness of the building. Great episode Brett, and Merry Christmas to you both.

Very neat cellar! My guess is that those hooks had some sort of racks connected to them, and/or connecting them.

If they did have a huge wine collection they would've needed racks for sure.

No external mics just what's in the camera. Part 2 is the Stone Man Willie part along with some other sites around Reading. Just look for the thumbnail with the SMW headstone.
