      Hey Yusuf! Glad I found your channel. I just got a job with Deloitte and have heard horror stories of long hours still trying to figure out whether I should accept the offer.

      @@laylak4843 Hey Layla! Glad you're here and congrats on the offer ☺️ for what it's worth, my time in consulting taught me a great deal! Rest assured that the long hours you invest will pay dividends in a few years and each day of experience you have will only benefit you. If you haven't got any other offers in hand then I say go for it!! There's nothing holding back if you want to leave at any point either....let me know if I can help with anything 🙂

      @@Yusuf-zm4gn hi Yusuf, hope you are well? I have a question for you. How were you able to move from one big 4 firm to another. My contract with PwC expired recently and I’m trying to get into another big 4, but when I sent my letter of interest to a managing director at Accenture today, he said my background is interesting but he’s not interested in discussing further with me because PwC is a competition..

    • @Yusuf-zm4gn

      @@TheProjectBoss hey Gbemi! I'm well thanks 🙂 that's very interesting to hear, I was continuously targeted by rival big 4 recruiters on LinkedIn and faced next to no hurdles when I moved across each time. Generally speaking, they are more than happy to steal talent from other firms and especially so at the junior ranks where it's hard to get enough consultants/senior consultants. Perhaps the intent of the note to the MD was unclear? My advice would be to reach out to their recruiters as opposed to MD's who are generally time poor and won't be very accommodating to these requests. Recruiters on the other hand are actively targeting people like you so if you reach out to them then you're making their lives easier and they will feel obliged to invest time into helping you.
      Good luck with your next career move and let me know if you have any other questions 🙂

    Great video, I want to switch careers from a biomedical scientist to consulting (strategy consulting), but there aren’t any TH-cam videos about this topic. Do you have any tipis for someone who is trying to get into consulting 5 years post university?

    • @Yusuf-zm4gn
      @Yusuf-zm4gn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ruth! Sorry it has taken me so long to respond 😔 My advice in this situation might sound counter intuitive but I'd aim to get my foot in the door at a junior consultant grade. The reason I say this is because it's the time when you're afforded the most slack to make mistakes and really hone your core consulting skills e.g. Framing problem statements, familiarising yourself with models and presentations. Once you've got this down pat and it doesn't take very long in some instances, you will springboard up the ranks because you have such deep subject matter expertise (some one working in the health industry would really appreciate the knowledge you bring and this attractiveness = promotions and growth). Most other junior consultants have no deep industry experience so use that point of differentiation to set you apart when it matters!
      You'll be great 🙂

    Hi, this was such a helpful video, thanks :) I graduated a couple of years ago and have been tutoring since. I've decided to go into audit and want to apply to the big 4. I've not had any relevant internships or have not had any (what I think would be) relevant experience. I definitely have transferable skills from my degree and think that I could still be suitable. Do you have any advice for someone in my situation on applying?

    • @Yusuf-zm4gn
      @Yusuf-zm4gn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry it took me so long to get around to responding!! Most other graduates you're competing against won't have relevant experience as well so don't feel too bad about that. I'd even say that a role in audit requires very high attention to detail so if you can bring this to life in your resume and application then that would make you look very attractive! Let me know if you ended up applying and if you have any specific questions I can help you answer 🙂

    • @Yusuf-zm4gn

      Hey! Other core options would be Consulting, Risk, Tax and financial advisory. Legal is another area but more niche for obvious reasons. Click through here to get a better understanding and feel free to send through any further questions 🙂

    Hi as a recent undergrad student in mathematics with no work experience would a masters in management improve my chances of landing a consultant role at the BIG 4?

    • @Yusuf-zm4gn
      @Yusuf-zm4gn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Kwadwo! To be brutally honest, I wouldn’t recommend the masters of management at this point. Depending on the kind of consulting you want to do, I’d say invest your time getting certifications in things like data + analytics, automation platforms and cyber security. These are actual skill sets that are in high demand and will certainly differentiate you more than a management degree will. Outside of this, if you know anyone working in the Big 4 currently then reach and out and see if they’re happy to refer you. Helps a lot when trying to get your foot in the door. Best of luck with everything 😁
