It can be useful on more dynamic material than the sample used here, on these kind of bass sounds it can sometimes mean you lose some low end and introduce further harmonics - that might be what you want...or not, really depends on what you're running through it and what effect you are going for
I notice you not youching the dynamics knob on the kHs distortion module. Thats my favorite feature on that tool.
