I haven’t gotten to SunEater yet, but I loved what I picked up from this interview. It seems right up my alley. This video was amazing John, much love!
So wholesome! I'm happy to see and share in this fan-man experience (it be weird to say fan-boy given your age difference, though your enthusiasm is boyish enough and Chris seems wise beyond his years). That he draws from the ancient foundational influences you mention and seems to know his Tolkien and Herbert makes Sun Eater seem like a rather safe bet, if not one of the great stories of the sci-fi canon (I mean literature canon :D ). His physical resemblance to Brandon Sanderson is also interesting - I hope his acclaim takes off to a similar degree, and I hope to join y'all in this universe by the time book 7 is ready.
Such a joy to see you guys meeting and getting together face to face! 😄 Just received my library copy of «Howling Dark»! I had planned to read it as my first book next month, but I might just start it right after I finished «Empire of Silence»! 😆
Ruocchio talking about the books just being a fun adventure with vampires made me bump the series up the tbr. I might not be smart enough to get all the literature references, but i can enjoy a fun adventure story. :D Also Jakob did some great post editing magic with the lightning. :)

The series has become one of my favourite of all time and I have been reading fantasy/sci-fi for twenty years now. Disquiet Gods is my least favourite book in the series, but the rest? Ultra-tastic!
I will be starting book 3 soon so I will have a wait to get to Disquiet Gods. I hope he nails the ending for you cementing it as an all time fav in your book.

That'd wild to me. Disquiet gods was damn near perfect. Was the final straw for me being confident in taking it up over dune and BOTNS for me. 😅
Wish I could have been there but I think it’s 5 or 6 hours away and I can’t drive due to being born legally blind. Looks like a cool store too.
