2 years ago we would have been hammered 6-0 by Argentina easily, when you consider Duke failing to score an easy goal and the poor defending at the start, this game could have well and truely been 1-1 draw.

This match was funded by Chinese investors and originally they wanted Argentina to play against China. But it is in middle of Chinese football leauge, and they failed to co-ordinate with Chinese football association who refused to send a China team. Therefore they faced a situation that Argentina team came to China but without China team， then Socceroos raise hands

Parents are from Argentina, born in Australia. Great game by the Aussies. Had a few great chances to come back but didn't pan out. It's really exciting times for the socceroos, only gonna get better.

@@Fredrick656 Sorry but that is an ignorant comment. We have qualified for every world cup since 2006 and there are many countries with far better pedigrees than us that have not done so. At last world cup we won 2 games, lost 2 games all against good opponents. We lost to 1st and 2nd place winners and as the Argentinian coach stated their hardest game was against Australia. I consider him a better judge of our ability than yourself, no offence intended.
The fact that top teams now are happy to play against us shows our standing worldwide. 20 years ago few if any top nations were willing to play Australia in friendlies. Now they jump at the chance when an opportunity presents.
That shows we are improving and have respect we once did not have.
