    Give credit to Australia, a national team whose government does not even want to invest in a dedicated training ground, compared to England's national team which reaps the billions of dollars of investment into the premier league.

      Spot on, England have their home ground of Wembley, we have none. We need a dedicated home for football in Australia, otherwise the game will continue to grow at a miserable rate.

      It's not just the government, and a training facility. Football in Australia gets little to no coverage in and through the media, even though participation numbers are 10x that of Rugbue League nationally. Football just doesn't fit into the bash, crash, machoistic culture that the msm helps to create and maintain. AFL is only played in Australia, Rugbue League, where Australia has won 12/15 World cups. C'mon now. In the news in the last couple of days, an ex Rugbue League player involved in a domestic violence dispute..

    • @whatsafirstname

      @@NickG-p1h it is sad, there has been three current or ex-NRL players charged with DV this year (and not the first year this has occured) yet, no real discussions from media about poor culture. Very surprised that the ABC does not say more on the mater. However, they subscribe to calling Rugby "football", and football 'soccer' further entrenching the term football as masculine, very off brand by the ABC and media in general

    I rather think the Ref was a little lenient on the Aussies with tackles after the ball had gone. I think the idea was advantage was played but it stopped the return ball to the player who laid it off. But the worse part of their play was two out of the three yellow cards against Australia never needed to happen. One to Baccus who got in the face of Jarrod Bowen for his foul on Goodwin. Bowen was openly laughing at him but didn't let him have a second bite of the cherry resulting in a booking for both players. And Jackson Irvine for dissent against the Ref with bad language just because he didn't like the decision she made. That is unforgivable and he almost got into it again before thinking better of it. That control should have been there before the first booking.
    It was interesting to see that the Australian ball control has improved a lot since Arnie took over. Back in the day it was key players that could manage the ball. Now it is the whole team which allowed them to play out quite well. But, and this is from an England supporter, the Aussies can't be satisfied with the performance because it was a loss and they didn't score. They wont win unless they want better.

  • @willmacca8001
    @willmacca8001 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    It’s always, “we could’ve won that”, “look how well we’ve done considering…”
    Until this country starts giving a shit about the world sport, and not fostering a culture of celebrating mediocre achievements, we will never progress past our current state. Saying shit like that means nothing in this sport, it’s brutal, it’s unforgiving, a miss doesn’t just mean it’s a missed chance without a clinical frontman in ur team a miss means you might’ve squandered your only chance at equalizing.
    And for anyone saying oh it’s cos we’re not a good enough nation to compete, invest in lower league developments then? Try and work more relations or try and establish affiliate clubs with European or South American clubs, it all boils down to the fact that our country has zero respect for this sport and it’s only when the World Cup kicks around do we start going oh yes come on we’re gonna do good. It’s arrogance, most people in the country still think this is a sport that can be played with all brawn and no brains, it’s evident in lower league games or NPL games where coaches still tell Centre backs to hoof it as far as possible.
