My son and I drove out to St. Louis (we're from Indy) for these shows. I've been religiously seeing Metallica since 1994 (when I tuend 18) any time they come close enough to me and had never heard them play this one live before (in person) - it's my favorite song of theirs and I thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks for upload the vid of it!
Was it my imagination, or was Lars trying to play double bass during a fast solo? I was confused that he had never done this before here, but with my ears I heard that....someone at least tried to play a double bass before the last verse. And anyway, Lars at these two concerts is straight lively, as if from 2017.
I think he feels a bit of healthy competition from Benante from Pantera so Lars feels he should not totally suck and drum like he does not care, but put some efforts into it.
@ellesartelcontar153 Heh, they should both be feeling a push from that drummer for Ice 9 Kills. They weren't really my cup of tea, but DAY-UM that dude sounds as tight as a drum machine (lol, in a good way).
Sounds about right considering it’s 2023 but, man, Kirk needs to re-learn that solo. It’s not even that effin’ hard. He could pull it off with a week’s worth of practice. Get on it, “Ripper”!
@@JaradS99 I know, which makes it even more frustrating. Just practice a couple of days, goddamnit. Same goes with other songs. Kirk’s improvisation is so lame, tbh.
Isnt how it works, he doesnt play the full solo because in the late 90s Lars and James wanted to try and shorten songs to fit in more on the setlist so some songs have had parts cut, Kirk could still play that solo if they wanted to play it fully@@mudcast
I was there! This preformance was awesome!

You're welcome. Glad ya's made the trip out. It was definitely worth it! 🤟🏻
I flew down from the east coast of Canada to see them both nights. This and Day made it 100x more worth it
@BananaTeracottaPie That’s awesome. 🤟

Has been played exactly like this since late 90s or early 2000s......

Wish James would just play the solos
