I want to like this trailer SOOOOOOO bad, but every video I see the leak situation. Its too bad. Im with you, its a lot of money and these issues...dissapointing. Good idea, execution needs work. Too bad, Im gonna take it off my list. Thank you for the video.
We had 3 issues after purchasing our mantis last year. One lock failed and the faucet leaked where crimped since day one. Taxa had these two items in the mail a day after submitting tickets. A technician even called to follow up. The third issue was a 1” strip of caulking that was missing and allowed rain water in. This was annoying as we found out about the leak on a trip to the outer banks where it rained the whole week. Taxa reimburse us for caulking and the job took me about 15 minutes. It can be frustrating to spend so much money and have tiny failures add up, but the good news is that most of these issues can be resolved quickly.
Thanks for your videos. We are looking into buying the TM or Cricket. Can you share how your experience has been with Taxas customer service? I’ve heard mixed things. I hope Taxas quality will be good. I’ve been reading that nation wide RV quality has dropped a lot recently with the labor shortages.
Being 100% transparent, getting in touch with them through email was rough. There was a stretch where I emailed often and didn't hear back for a bit. Hard to tell if it was because of quality or just lack of people wanting to work. BUT, when I did get in touch they have worked with me on every issue and came through every time.
True, but the bigger issue is that the "nuts" that you use to fasten the cross bars to the rails when you are not using the tent, are shaped specifically to fit those Thule rails. There isn't a wrench that actually fits them. So, we've had to go and find normal hex nuts for when we want to attach the tent, and hope we don't lose the weird shaped ones for the rack rails.
Thank you for this video. I was looking very seriously at this or another TAXA model, but the leaks seem to be an issue with all of them. I think I will cut my losses, buy a cheap lite trailer used. I will be less pissed off with knowing most trailers in my price range are poorly constructed. The Taxa is beautiful, but I'm not going to give them that much of my $$$$$ for leaks. Thanks again!
Yeah, IMO most of the cost goes into the frame and structure to make it strong enough for overlanding and it can be easy where the cost cuts were made. With that being said, they have worked with me to make sure everything gets fixed....but yeah...it gets frustrating with the extra time having to be put in to get it fixed.
Not yet, I think its coming from where the metal racks attach on the roof and they just weren't sealed properly. Taxa told me to take to an RV service spot and have them contact warranty, just haven't got around to doing it

Those are not picky. Small issue becomes big time consuming fixing instead of time camping. Its the risk consumer take to enjoy life. Btw..great vid !

A long wrench with some tape great for tight spots

Did you get the leak fixed? Where as the leak from? I have the same problem and their fix just doesn’t make sense.
