We really are creatures of habit. My husband walked by and asked what is Sarah doing today? Then he said on his own, hey box 2 hasn’t arrived yet has it?Thanks for the gouache clouds video.
It is really convincing that an artist is using the very brushes she has designed herself. I have the Craftamo - Burns kit and I love the brushes. Thank you for your contribution to the gouache community.
Meteorology is my hobby. I used to collect weather data in Colorado for many dfferent organizations. NOAA, NCAR, t.v, radio stations and others. I know all the names of the clouds. Lol. However, I have tried many different ways to draw and paint clouds! I just don't get it! Lol! Thank you so much for the help! I can hardly wait to try your methods. I have been admiring your clouds for a long time. Thank you!
Thanks, Sarah! I love clouds. In fact, I added one to a practice painting from the first goauche box. And may I say, I was blown away by how much I learned from just the first box in the subscription. Worth every penny!! ❤
Honestly ma’am? I’m just happy to see y’all post your work at all. I ain’t ever painted before, but I started Goache, pronounced Gooch in my home 😁, and it’s fun so far. For what it’s worth ma’am? Thanks for the inspiration. From an old(ish) retired US Soldier trying to pass the time free of homicidal ideations. 🤪 Stay safe. 🇺🇸
It's really interesting to see you get similar effects using gouache like watercolour, I might have to give this a try as I've only ever painted clouds with watercolour 🥰🥰
I think there's a general expectation that gouache has to be used thick at all times, but it's such a versatile medium, I think it lends itself nicely to being both diluted and used thick.
It's a very nice lesson... I hope more is to come... I am now in between guache and water colour... I thought maybe guaache to too solid but I see how you work with it and it gives me new ideas. Thx friend. From Amsterdam.
@@SarahBurnsStudio I just re watched this as I painted along. It is such a great exercise! I will be doing it again. As you said, repetition can be very productive. I also found it very low stress and free. Thanks, Sarah!
No wonder my clouds were so weird… the tips you gave here make perfect sense to me, but I wasn’t going to figure them out without help. Thanks, Sarah! 🙏💙✨
Hullo Sarah, thanks for sharing your thoughts and techniques for painting clouds! I will have to go look into the construction of your brushes, again. I hope that I am remembering that they are tacklon? I used handme down brushes for the first 5 years of my painting experience. My first purchase was a set of 4 brushes from LeMer and I recently found out they were made by Grumbacher! They are an obsolete line of brushes today, so not available anymore. Real squirrel hair brushes and now I have become a believer in synthetic brushes! They have come a loooooong way since they were first introduced! Believe that there are still poorly made synthetic brushes, but they have made brushes that are almost perfect replicas of sable brushes! You are a very relaxing person to watch and listen to, thank you. Sweet clouds, I enjoyed seeing how you work and enjoying how you create clouds!
Thank you so much for your tutorial. I just started a channel and I never used Gouache before or brushed anything with any medium. It’s been very challenging but I love how paintings look that’s been brushed so I just gotta fight through it, again I just want to thank you for your tutorial, it’s helpful.
I've been spoiled by cotton paper and my nice brushes, I can scrub and work and not worry. I've bought a cellulose sketchbook but it's for outside and fun animals paintings since I don't exactly remember how to use it anymore.
Thx Sarah for your videos. I need to catch up!! Got my chapel sketched (was that September?) Then do my cloud studies & gouache boxes! Thx for your hard work!
Gorgeous techniques & tips for producing such a wonderful variety of clouds. Thanks so much for breaking down the various ways to paint these. Hope you’re enjoying a wonderful day & weekend Sarah! 😘
Clouds and the patreon video will have to keep me going since my gouache box didn’t arrive in time for the weekend (I’ll survive 😂). I know my plans for next weekend anyway 😊. I feel like doing some clouds on a sunset coloured sky!

Thanks for explaining your techniques and how to apply the brush head 🙂. The techniques here are very watercolour-friendly.

Goosh this gouache is fun! 😁
Goosh, we should all come up with fun and new ways of saying Gouache. 😂 Well done for finding refuge in art. Stay safe!

This was just what I needed. I am never satisfied when I paint skies with Gouache. I will definitely be rewarching and painting along. Thanks, Sarah!
It certainly takes lots of repetition- took me a long time to get the feel of it!

I love your videos, and I’m not a painter 😂😂😂😂😂🤓
👋 hello!
How do I get your gouche paint brushes I didn’t see them on website thanks
Very helpful video! What is the board you used to tape your paper?
It's just a sheet of gray plastic
I can’t remember whether I’ve asked you this question before, but did you previously paint in oils? Are the techniques different to those of gouache?
You don’t use the wells in your palette?
Did you ever use a 100% celulose paper t gouache? I know that it is not appropriate to watercolor..
First 👋🏼
P r o m o S M 😂
With clouds, we all are begginers...😅😅😅😭
Excellent tutorial! Thank you.
