A forensic physician, called on behalf of Conor McGregor, has given evidence in relation to bruising at the MMA fighter’s civil legal action in the High Court.
Mr McGregor, and his friend, James Lawrence, of Rafters' Road, Drimnagh, are being sued for damages by 35-year-old Nikita Hand, who claims they both raped her in a Dublin hotel in 2018.
Earlier in the trial, the jury heard from a Dr Daniel Kane, who examined Nikita Hand at the Rotunda Hospital, the day after she claims she was raped at the Beacon Hotel.
He said she had, “significant injuries,” including what he described as, “extensive bruising on all four limbs and her body.”
Ms Hand claims Conor McGregor caused those injuries, while he was raping her.
He denies the allegation, claiming they had consensual sex and said that, as far as he was aware, he didn’t cause any of the bruises.
Today, his barrister called Professor John Farnan, a forensic physician, who told the jury bruising can take 24 or 48 hours to appear if it’s deep in the tissue.
Under cross-examination, he accepted some bruises can appear quickly, but again said some can take up to 48 hours.
The defence has now finished calling evidence.
