Fellow cosplayer here. If people ask for your picture, you don't charge them????? Not even if you're running a booth promoting your cosplay. Some people will sell prints of their work, but it is generally assumed if you give your consent to be photographed to photogs or con goers, it's for free. You'd definately not charge them after they took the pic. That's something you'd negotiate before the picture was taken, if you're so inclined.
I find it very laughable once a photographer gives the photo to the client, and states they can do what they want, and then state when they do what they want, they somehow cannot do what they want. I worked for a photographer who was a scammer who would do that stuff all the time, and try to scare people by screaming he would sue, a ton of frivolous lawsuit threats. It always makes me laugh.
On the artist point - If they paid for the artist and properly commissioned them for it and there was no agreement on royalties, then Freckled Zelda is absolutely in the right there. The artist does not own that art, they sold not just the image to them, but sole distribution rights. If you expect royalties, royalties should be in your original contract. You cannot renegotiate the contract retroactively just because they made more money off of it.

A video game artist doesn't expect to make more money than the video game does, a comic book artist doesn't expect to make more than the comic does, the guy making the front cover art for a book doesn't expect to make more money than the book does. When you do commissions for companies/businesses it should be expected that they're going to make more money using the art than you did from the commission. If they didn't, they wouldn't have paid for a commission in the first place. Honestly just feels like this is a really inexperienced artist that likely hasn't been doing commissions for long.

I think what pisses me off most about her response about "other people dress like this out in public spaces" is that those people are not doing it in a private DM, knowing a child is in that DM, and posing in a suggestive manner. The outfit itself wasn't necessarily the issue, although I wouldn't send anything in that outfit to a child, it was her posing, the lip-bite, and the clear sexual suggestion. She was showing her cleavage, she was showing her boobs. That was the issue.

Im Lolliath, a cosplayer (as a hobby) and I've been in group chats with her in the past, nothing as nefarious as the one previously mentioned with children-- but this chat was made by creators, to support other creators in their growth! A very sweet concept I thought, but she was never there to give her support to us, and had no problem asking us to lift her up (spamming her posts) for nothing in return, and then complain to the mods that she was being treated unfairly. Shes made her career on the backs of other creators that she's used.

The whole outfit thing isn’t exactly about the outfit itself, but more about the fact that the images were very clearly meant to be sexual in nature. Zelda uploaded two videos with RECEIPTS aka EVIDENCE covering every single accusation against her, as well as witness coming forward defending her in both the YT comments and TikTok comments (some being minorities). And the fact this is happening AFTER she became Christian is REALLY telling. So no, I’m not wrong for being on her side and believing the evidence. If fact, I even advise her to take legal actions because one of these accusations is very serious and the accusers are messing with evidence and falsely accused her of something. I worked for a photographer who was a scammer who would do that stuff all the time, and try to scare people by screaming he would sue, a ton of frivolous lawsuit threats. It always makes me laugh.
On the artist point -
If they paid for the artist and properly commissioned them for it and there was no agreement on royalties, then Freckled Zelda is absolutely in the right there.
The artist does not own that art, they sold not just the image to them, but sole distribution rights.
If you expect royalties, royalties should be in your original contract. You cannot renegotiate the contract retroactively just because they made more money off of it.
Totally agree with this. They are allowed to be frustrated because she made more money, but you can’t renegotiate a deal like that way after.

A video game artist doesn't expect to make more money than the video game does, a comic book artist doesn't expect to make more than the comic does, the guy making the front cover art for a book doesn't expect to make more money than the book does.
When you do commissions for companies/businesses it should be expected that they're going to make more money using the art than you did from the commission. If they didn't, they wouldn't have paid for a commission in the first place.
Honestly just feels like this is a really inexperienced artist that likely hasn't been doing commissions for long.

I think what pisses me off most about her response about "other people dress like this out in public spaces" is that those people are not doing it in a private DM, knowing a child is in that DM, and posing in a suggestive manner. The outfit itself wasn't necessarily the issue, although I wouldn't send anything in that outfit to a child, it was her posing, the lip-bite, and the clear sexual suggestion. She was showing her cleavage, she was showing her boobs. That was the issue.

A very sweet concept I thought, but she was never there to give her support to us, and had no problem asking us to lift her up (spamming her posts) for nothing in return, and then complain to the mods that she was being treated unfairly. Shes made her career on the backs of other creators that she's used.

Yeah, all the accusations against her are false and she had a lot of receipts to prove her innocence in two videos. And it’s ironic that all of this is happening AFTER she became a Christian. People will cancel anyone for anything out of hatred, or jealousy (due to someone’s happiness and success) or both. If fact, I even advise her to take legal actions because one of these accusations is very serious and the accusers are messing with evidence and falsely accused her of something.
