I love this painting, I've tried to paint that scene before when I was first learning gouache, I'm still trying to properly learn it. I had just painted this scene and my grandmother was in the hospital at the time, she always was into gardens with big colourful flowers her own garden look as if it was overgrown with flowers, that painting was the last piece of art of mine that my grandmother had seen. It will be 2 years since she has passed this April, that scene and the movie kiki's delivery service will forever remind me of her. ❤❤

so pretty. I still need to figure out how to really paint with gouache without ending up just lifting and mixing all of the colours into a muddy mess haha

i’ve had trouble w this a lot too! what i do is wait for the spot to completely dry before i go in. if it mixes up, i wait more to fix it and just keep layering on like that. i also make sure to not mix in a lot of water so the colors underneath won’t get reactivated too quickly !
can u pls estimate the water and pain consistency 🥺 just started yesterday and this is my problem rn
@@bambaaeee basically what i do is just have a slightly wet brush which i achieve with dipping the brush in water and lightly tapping it on a paper towel so it isn’t *too* wet. if it isn’t enough to get the paint, then i just repeat the process with a touch more water. there’s no particular ratio of paint to water (for me at least) so it really just is up to experimentation. hope this helps though!
