What's new in Finale version 25?

- A new version of Finale is here and it's name is (John Cena!!) Finale version 25. I go through the change log and hopefully cover as much as I can.

Sounds like virtually every "improvement" is a Bug Fix!
It is very confusing that the narrator talks about one thing but shows something different on the screen.
Do you know how to make articulations do key switching? If so, could you do a video!
How does scanning in documents facilitate copyright infringement? I seriously don't get what they're going for there, besides making it easy to slightly change the piece and pass it off as your own (but you can do that anyway...)

Nope! It will NOT replace 2014.5 or any other version of Finale on your computer :)

You can no longer talk to anyone at Finale - a fairly big strike against Finale. Why, after quite a few years, are there pretty much no face-to-face feed back channels for Finale? It's the users of your product, stupid, who give you the feedback you need to promote a viable product. When - if ever - will Finale finally get a tool or something that allows you to change all the note time values with one highlight and click, and keep everything in its proper proportion? This was standard way back in the 90s with such old programs as Concertware. And so on. I bitch, but I use Finale.
I no longer work for the company and I won't be able to disclose everything, however here is what I know: there are 15 people who take ALL the customer support requests including email and calls. Last year they were looking into streamlining their efficiency by taking out Garritan calls. The CS team often was abused by users calling in numerous times asking how-to questions or unrelated. This would eat into valuable time they could be spending helping customers with legitimate issues. An email client allows them to prioritize and optimize the efficiency of the CS system. There are times when they will call should an issue be best resolved over the phone. As a general rule for ANY time you call up a company, do your homework and come prepared. Make sure you checked their website and see if there is a solution there FIRST. Think of it like preparing for a job interview: read up about the company and what they do to avoid asking questions you'd be embarrassed by :) this is just my thought however

I need some help. In some scores I need to clap some instruments, but I can not perform this task. I have read several tutorials and videos but I do not think anything about clapping. You could help me in this situation, I have some scores to edit but I can not use this feature of Finale. My Finale is 2010. Thanks!

Hmm...could you clarify what you mean by 'clap?' If you are referring to percussion instruments loading in the ARIA player I can help. Otherwise could you clarify for me? Perhaps an awkward translation?

There are some scores that in the execution asks to the musician to applaud, even being instrument that is not percussion (type - flute, clarinet, trumpet ...). I know this is an effect so the performing musician can clap this part of the score.
I know there is this applauding clap effect, but I want to put this effect in only a few measures for instruments that are not part of the percussion.
Can you help me?

I wanted to tell you about "clap" was the percussion item called "Hand Clap". In some parts of the score in which the instrument is not the percussion, type clarinet, trumpet, sax, put this sound in these instruments (only in some parts of the score to give the effect of clapping). There are some scores I'm editing that need this effect.

For those of you who don't understand why scanning had anything to do with negatively impacting composers and arrangers, think about this:
You spend weeks or months writing/arranging a piece. It gets published and you make money off it, so you're a little less of a starving artists, and then somebody decides to loan the score to a friend, who scans the score, extracts the parts, and now has the entire score and parts. For free.
I get the decision to remove it.
That's one element of it. The other is that SmartScore is a 3rd party plugin which Musitek (who make SmartScore) decided to remove - - or so I've heard
Actually, the scanning process in earlier Finales was a hastle... I once tried to scan a simple voice and piano score in order to transpose it and print it out for a vocalist whom I was going to perform with, but the plugin had difficulties getting even the most basic elements right - noteheads, accidentals etc. It was actually faster typing the whole score into the program and then transposing it...
