The Pi 5's New Clothes

- I love me some Argon Cases for my Raspberry Pis. Today I put the Pi5 into a nice cozy bed of protective, smooth, cooling aluminum with the Argon Neo5.

Argon makes Awesome cases! Thanks for the video T.O. 💪🏼
You bet
Thank you. I do like the Argon cases as well. Have the Neo 5 case that has the M.2 NVMe capability on order, but there is a mid-July delivery on them, so I guess it must be popular. 73
Just my luck to drop the vid when they are low on stock!
Huge fan of Argon40 cases as well. This is great to see!
Awesome!
Second ? Very nice case.. I love the one for the rpi4 that they use for the Shari Allstar node.. But that one looks even better with active cooling !
This is an upgrade to the shari version. Good stuff

Glad to have you aboard LC
It's always -Cool- to get a new pair of Clothes, tnx Man!
You bet!
Looks like a quality case
yeah, high gear!
Nice Review, Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Clean and neat
That's the best part.
Love me some Pi! 73
Me Too
I have both Argons for the Pi4 and love 'em. No Pi5 yet but that looks dang sexy!😊
Even the one they make for the zero series is pretty cool. Argon makes good stuff.
The Argon cases I have all have SEVERE fan noise. (I have 2 Argon ones and then one I got with the SHARI node.) All have the fan noise like the fan is rubbing up against the case somewhere. That and the cost of the PI5 alone I can get a faster mini PC with a case. For PI Hole and a lot of my pi needs where GPIO is not required, I just go with mini PCs. AND, they don't suddenly start squealing in the middle of the night.
Don the mini PC lover (and Pi hater)
@@temporarilyoffline I don't hate them per se. They certainly have their place but I mean who can argue with 12V and faster processor. And I respect you for sticking to your guns 😉
@@don_n5skt I respect your opinion as well - I like what the pi represents more than its price/performance. I think a 12v PC is better overall, but you still have the screen/keyboard problem... that the evolve3 solves.
I have six Argon cases that have integrated fans. NONE have fan noise, and two are several years running 24/7.
And I also have at least ten Dell & HP USFF. Great machines, BTW.
👍 I like my Argon One V3 incl m.2 with plenty of Gb, 73 de PH7R
I like the speed improvement, the pi is almost like a big boy computer with that m.2
the argon 1 looks cyber truckish
I think Musk copied the design. The argon was definitely first. (Even if it wasn't)
What's the difference between this fan and the active cooler fan I already have. Basically is it cool (haha get it) to replace the old fan with the new case fan
no real difference, same connection point - this one is just built into the case.
I have that case with the NVME bottom and couldn't get the NVME to work. The case is awesome, the pi5 is crazy fast just on the micro SD. I can't imagine the speed if I can ever get the NVME to work. I used the commands listed in the manual for the NVME then I loaded up the latest image on the SD and booted it, then used the drive copy to the NVME, but it wont boot. :(
I haven't messed with the pi5 version, the pi4 version is a USB adapter.
I had the same issue with my Argon case with the NVMe bottom. I have stubby fingers and eyesight issues, and my age does not help at all; I was not seating the PCIe ribbon all the way in; I was afraid to break it, so try messing around with that ribbon and watch that when seating one end of the ribbon you won't pull the other end. After about 45 minutes, everything worked. Now, be careful which EEPROM bootloader you flash because if you want to switch distros, you might end up opening the case again to boot from an SD card and install another distro. The other option is to get an NVMe external enclosure to flash the distro and then install the SSD into the case; that is better because all you have to do is to unscrew four screws and install the drive into the case. Good luck.
@@luisbperez368… yes, the fiddly cable is, well, fiddly…🫣 99.9% of “NVMe not working” is due to install problems with that fiddly cable.
Have you done a Video on using the digirig with the rasberry pie?
For the FT-818, yep
@@temporarilyoffline could you do a Video on ft8 on the ft891 showing how to install Software on rasberry pie?
@OralRoyse th-cam.com/video/US5HOffEp1c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=T5-G1abzekWjvOdS try this one and let me know. The concepts transfer over pretty directly
@@temporarilyoffline the setting on the radio will work with the digirig?
@@OralRoyse Sure thing.
I'd love to find a good 1dc to USB-c solution that would power a Pi-5 and not give the low current errors. Got anything cool? Thanks!
Its my understanding that the "official" power supply has a signature that turns that off - I plugged my pi into a 100w/100ah PD connection and I still got that message. I'm not happy.
@@temporarilyoffline….your “understanding” is wrong.
There is no “official secret signature” in the “official” Power Supply.
ANY supple capable of 5.1V @ 5A will fully power the Pi5.
Argon, CanaKit, RadXa, Vilros.. among others who sell Pi5 power supplies.
If your 100W/100ah PD gives a ‘low power’ warning, then there is a problem with the power actually getting onto the board.
Bad wiring.
Bad USB-C connector
Misconfigured USB-C
The Pi5 has been available since October 2023, and there have been no widespread complaints of actual power failures , such as plagued the Pi4 release (which WAS an actual RTFM failure in the UBS-C design stage🧐)
@@ernestgalvan9037 would be happy to know what power supply you're using that powers the pi5 with zero warnings on the desktop. Like I said, I've used quite a few and all of them have issues. cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/807059272215166977/1245172746896277555/s-l1600.png?ex=667815bd&is=6676c43d&hm=233b5763ee704ef9e830d0eb3b59450601705027cc76ccdac2ca9bc929af5519&

Wow, sold 'em out!
That some HAM sexy cases . love them thermal silicone pads . I have a assortment of them pads. with and with out sticky . SSD drives coming down in price and getting larger and faster. I have a new HDD SATA drive. 3.5 in but 10 TB . I got M2 SATA SSD in laptop. 1TB . use lot less power. I think my network drives will work as long as log into my privet network. at home can do threw Wi-Fi or Ethernet. not threw internet but I can if I want to change some settings. both me and my girlfriend can access same drive same time. we both keep back ups of back ups on it. I can get into drive USB as well. love them SSD . no moving parts. my 2 TB one is USB 3 . looks like a USB stick but a little bigger and it's super fast and I have it bootable . I can boot a laptop into USB . most newer laptop does that . get more life out of Pi buy keeping them cool ! 73's
SSDs on Pis are a whole nother level!
@@temporarilyoffline The price is coming down and the storage TB is going up ! SSD's and Pi's perfect match !
Be careful letting your WiFis and Bluetooths out. They might git with your Twitters and next thing you know you got a litter of mutts running around. /s 😂
Right! Can't be too careful
