    You two did a fine job, Nice work. Obviously, tractors and power tools makes everything run that much more efficient, Thanks for sharing your project. My wife and I are getting ready to install 10 pads here in Texas for a new Tiny home community, so we really enjoyed your video. Peace

    Wish I could send a pic of my small pad. Hopefully picking up our new Air Stream still trying to come up with a name. Warranty not included, there goes my retirement fund, warranty denied by corporate, Drop in the bucket. See I need help naming her. Keep the laughs coming.

    Looks good, friends! Here’s a little tip relative to pressure treated wood…let it aclimate before you stain it. Once water stops beading on the surface, that’s when you know it’s ready for stain. It takes about 6-12 months for it to aclimate. Just be sure to pressure wash it first and let it dry for 24 hours prior to stain.

    Our pad is 14 by 24 for our 21 ft Chinook. We brought in 15 yards of shell marl and another 2 yards of rock. Anyway we used pressure treated sides of 2 by 12 and 6 by 4 12 footers of pt to make a stained frame
    It took three years as we did it by hand we had to design some it's we went. It has solar lighting and will have a 2 by 12 six foot by ten foot wide ramp and an inner three foot walkway. I feel it came out well

    This looks amazing! Question, when you said you did 6" of drainage rock behind the wall, did you do that on top of the 4" of gravel wall foundation or actually behind the set in place landscape wall separating the fill dirt from the wall?

    • @ALittleBitUnhitched
      @ALittleBitUnhitched  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually behind the landscaping wall to separate the wall from the fill dirt. This just helps with drainage. You don't want to have saturated fill dirt pushing on your wall during heavy rainstorms.
      The taller your wall is, the more important this is. Hopefully this was more clear! Cheers!

    I did a pad last summer, used road base instead of soil for fill. Topped it off with crushed limestone, looks good and hard as concrete but, there’s always a but, when it rains the limestone splashes on the Airstream. As Charlie Brown would say, rats!
    PS. Can you guys also make longer video’s?

    • @ALittleBitUnhitched
      @ALittleBitUnhitched  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a fine pad! Interesting about the limestone splash up.
      If you want longer videos from us it truly means you are a glutton for punishment! However, since you asked nicely we will oblige from time to time. Let us know if you ever want any specific topics covered. Happy to take video suggestions! Happy Trails! :)

    Absolutely love what y’all did!! Especially the rock you used as the wall. I may have missed it being said, but what product is that? Also, is that crushed granite you used for the pad top? This looks so natural vs. concrete pads. We are getting ready to place on in our back yard. Love the video! Subscribing!!!

      Hey Jennifer, sorry about the late response! Busy week with our day jobs! We used Veranda concrete retaining wall blocks for the wall. We bought them from Lowe’s. We also used #7 granite for the pad from a local quarry. Two years later it’s still looking great! Have a great weekend!

    Hey guys! I'm looking to build an RV pad to rent out to folks like you in NC near Asheville! How do you know how big to build the pad? What are some must-haves? Thanks!

    • @ALittleBitUnhitched
      @ALittleBitUnhitched  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What a great idea! Also…love the Asheville area. Should be up there for a weekend next month.
      Pad size is very dependent on rig size. Look at the largest length of rig that will be on your site and add a few feet of wiggle room for good measure. Do not make your pad too narrow because this makes it really hard to park your RV correctly and limits the usable outdoor space.
      The term “must have” is different for everybody but for us it meant 30Amp electric hookups, water (well or city), and sewer hookups (septic or city), some sort of shade, lights, and an outdoor table to enjoy our view with!
      We should be posting a video here in the next two days about our new sun shade so stay tuned! Best of luck Charlotte!

    Trying to look for cheaper way to go about doing a travel trailer pad already talked to a guy about some gravel and he wants $300 per load and he said it might take 2-3 loads do y’all have any suggestions or would it be cheaper to just buy the gravel elsewhere and do it ourselves. I came across this video cuz I was looking for ideas

    • @ALittleBitUnhitched
      @ALittleBitUnhitched  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for reaching out! In our case, it was most cost effective to have our gravel delivered. Obviously there are multiple different gravel types that can vary in price. We haven’t used it before…but you could look into using slag as a more cost effective option. Good luck with the project Becks!

    Where in SC are you permitted to build a pad on your property to live in an RV fulltime? I live in North Charleston area and none of the counties around here allow it. Exception being a 6 month permit if you are building a traditional house on the property.

    • @ALittleBitUnhitched
      @ALittleBitUnhitched  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for reaching out Billy. For the time being, Beaufort County is more friendly as long as you are not in city limits. There’s quite a few people doing it on parts of Ladies Island and more rural areas to the east.

    I want to add a gravel drive and parking area from my existing drive to my back garage, about 200" long and 12" wide, till it opens up by the garage at about 18' wide. I'm using railroad ties as a border. Do you see any issues with simply cutting the grass as low as possible (scalping it), then spraying with grass killer, covered with landscaping fabric and then gravel? Drainage is great in the area and not a concern.

      We’ve definitely seen other people do this exact thing on TH-cam. We aren’t civil engineers but I don’t see any reason why this wouldn’t work out great. You’ll eventually get weeds regardless. Just stay on top of them. Good luck with the project James! ✊
